I bet you’ve heard the story about the player that gets played. Yes, that’s me, Dylan Ashford. I am in an open relationship with my long-term girlfriend, and when I realize she is only using me for my name, I discover I am in too deep until I meet her, the girl with the brown eyes that make my world spin upside down, and believe I still have a chance of the love I always dreamed of. People see me as a Joker and a Playboy, but deep down, I am a romantic, and I need to find my own true love. Watching my big brother fall in love gave me hope. My name is Joanna Thompson, but my friends know me as Jo. I work in a security firm, and after a traumatic breakup with my ex, I am looking forward to finding my true love, but my head gets turned by the one person I absolutely despise for everything that he represents. Dylan Ashford is everything I always hated in humankind. He is cocky and a player. This book can be read as a Standalone, but for better comprehension, you should read The Big Shot first. This is book number two of The Ashford book series.

“What are you doing?” I ask Leo as he pulls me by the hand down the hotel corridor. I can’t help but giggle at the emergency in his action. We reach the door, and he opens it, exposing the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. We had been in Mexico on vacation for one week, and I thought he would propose to me, but soon after we arrived, I realized I was mistaken.
All we have been doing is radical activities but now… Now he is guiding me through the beach to a small tent. Everything is white with flowers. I look around, and there are massive pillows on the floor and a beautiful table with colorful food.
“Oh My God, Leo, this is beautiful,” I say, and when I turn around to look at him, he is on one knee, holding a small black velvet box with a ring inside.
“Jo, you are the sunshine of my life. You brought to light when the darkness was consuming me, made me want to live again, and I owe my life to you and your love. You are the most amazing woman I have ever met, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you,” he says, and tears start to stream down my face while my hands cover my mouth. “Jo, will you do me the great honor of becoming my wife?” Leo asks me, and I nod my head a thousand times.
“Yes. Yes, I will marry you”, I say, jumping towards him and wrapping my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me and kissing his lips. I can’t believe this is happening to me. I never thought I would love someone as I love Leo, and this is the happiest moment of my life. Leo is the most important person I have ever had in my life besides my family.
I start hearing lots of clapping, and when I turn around, I see my parents and, my sister, my friends. Layla is looking at me with the biggest smile on her face.
“Congratulations, my dear,” my mom says as she walks towards me and wraps me into a tight embrace. “Come on, let us see the ring,” she says, and I show her my left hand, still not really believing this is happening.
“Is this a dream?” I ask at no-one in specific, but Leo is the one to reply.
“No, my love, this is not a dream,” he says, wrapping his arms around my waist as waitresses and waiters show up with champagne glasses and start serving everyone. I still don’t understand how this is happening. How did he pull this off?
“Dad,” I let out as he has a single tear rolling down his eye and pulls me into a tight embrace.
“I always knew you would find someone that would love you almost as much as I love you, sweetheart,” he says. I love my parents more than life, and I would do anything for them. They always took care of Layla and me. My sister can be a pain in the ass, but I guess it’s normal to feel like that about my sister. She is two years older than me, and we never really got along as children, but as we grew older, we became closer.
“Bangs,” my sister says, pulling me into an embrace, and I scrunch my nose at the nickname she has been calling me since I was twelve. My mother had the most horrible idea of cutting my hair herself and gave me awful bangs, and now I can’t stand them. I look at the old pictures, and I cringe. I looked like an alien with a bad haircut.
“Sissi,” I say, smiling as she holds my hand and looks at the ring.
“I knew he would choose something good,” she says, and I go wide-eyed.
“Do you really think he planned for all of this? The man had no clue how to create an intimate and romantic setting to propose, and he wanted to do it as soon as you landed here, no preparation, nothing”, Sissi says, and I can’t help but laugh. That does sound like Leo. My beautiful Leo. My future husband.
The party starts to get more agitated, everyone eating and drinking, and I go talk to Layla, that is standing there with Edward.
“How long till you propose?” I ask him smacking him on the arm, and he smiles, looking at Layla with loving eyes. I have never seen any man look at her the way he does. They have been together for about two years now, and he treats her like a queen.
“Someday,” he says, and Layla smiles as she wraps her arms around his neck, and they kiss. “Ewww,” I say, walking away from them. I can’t stand Public demonstrations of affection, call me old school, but I think certain things should be done behind closed doors and inside of four walls.
“How are you feeling, future Mrs. Adams?” Leo asks, and I smile. I can’t think of anything that I would want more than to be called Mrs. Adams, to be his wife, and live the rest of our lives together.
“I am feeling great, happy,” I say, and he smiles, looking at me and pulling me into a kiss. I smile against his lips as everyone around us starts clapping once more, making me feel special and loved.
“Thank you all for coming, but right now, I want to be alone with my future wife,” Leo says to everyone, and I start blushing. I look at him with a smile on my lips as he guides me back to our hotel room, which is now fully decorated with white flowers and roses everywhere.
“This is beautiful,” I say, and Leo pulls me towards him.
“Not as beautiful as you.”
Dylan POV “Come on sleepyhead, it’s time to get up,” Jo says as she pulls the covers from my body. “Argh,” I let out, rolling onto my stomach and burying my head on my pillow as Jo opens the curtains. “What are you doing? It’s Saturday,” I let out with my head still on my pillow. “Come on, I need you to get up,” she says, but I groan again, closing my eyes harder, shaking my head. “Nope,” I say, popping the P. Jo screamed for help and I jumped out of bed, disoriented. I saw her in the doorway, already dressed and showered. I shake my head, regretting standing up so fast. “What the fuck was that for? I almost had a fucking heart attack,” I say, going back to bed, but she runs, grabbing my wrist, stopping me. I turn around to face her and she is smiling. She looks way too excited. “Okay, what’s with that face? That’s terrifying,” I say as I move my finger in circles, pointing at her face. Jo smacks my finger away as she pulls me
Jo POV Dylan pulls me closer to him. I keep my eyes closed, my brain is tired that I can’t even open my eyes. I can feel Dylan’s lips move up and down my neck and move to my shoulder. I take a deep breath as he helps me to roll onto the bed to face him. I smile slightly as he kisses me and then kisses my face, my nose, and my eyes. “Good morning,” he whispers, and I smile again. I open my eyes to be faced with those beautiful ocean-blue eyes that take my breath away every time he smiles at me. “Good morning, husband,” I say and he chuckles as I move, resting my head on his chest. Dylan hugs me tightly against his body as I keep my eyes closed, moving my hands slowly up and down his stomach, feeling his rock-hard abs. This man feels like the Gods have carved him just for me. I lick my lips as I open my eyes to look at him. He looks lost in thought, and I can’t blame him. Our lives had turned upside down since we got together and we got married. I don’t
Dylan POV “Are you sure you want to do that?” I ask Fred, while he takes his glass to his lips. He shrugs and I can’t help but smile. “I don’t know, but it seems like a good idea,” he says, and I take a deep breath. “Just because it seems like a good idea, it doesn’t mean that it will be a successful business,” I tell him. He nods and I can hear Jo’s voice in my ear. “I am going to the bathroom, husband,” she says and I look back at her while she smiles, with Layla standing next to her. I nod while I smile. She called me husband, the best word in the world right now. I think I have never loved this woman more than I love right now, and I don’t even know if I will ever love her more than right now. Layla wraps one arm around Jo’s arm as they walk slowly toward the bathroom. They get stopped so many times and I can tell Jo is not loving it. Archie starts crying and Richard immediately goes into panic mode. He looks around, and Layla is nowhere to be seen. He picks up the little one
Jo POV Dylan holds my hand while we wait to be called into the ballroom. “How are you feeling?” He asks me and I look at him before I look at the double door again and smile. “Nervous, but very happy. How did you pull this off?” I ask and he looks at me. I turn around to face him and he places both his hands on my face and kisses me slowly. I close my eyes, allowing him to savor the moment. “I didn’t pull anything off. I was with you the entire time. This is all Layla,” he tells me, and I smile. The double doors open and I can hear someone announce us. “Mr. And Mrs. Ashford” My heart beats fast as we walk into the room with round tables and everyone standing while they clap. I smile as Dylan tightens his grip on my hand. “Ladies and Gentleman, the first dance,” someone says and Dylan pulls me towards him as he wraps his arms around my waist. I wrap both my arms around his neck as we sway to the sound of Extreme more than words. I smile as I rest my head against his chest. When th
Dylan POV “You need to chill,” Richard says as he helps me with my butterfly tie. I look at him and he smirks. I grab his glass from the side table and empty its content in my mouth. Argh, that was strong. I lift the glass, showing that it is empty, and Jude laughs as he grabs the bottle and pours another dose into it. “You should take it easy,” Jude says and I flip him off as I look at my reflection in the mirror. Today is the most important day of my life. I am marrying the woman of my dreams. I am finally allowing myself to be happy. A soft knock on the door brings my attention back to the room. Layla steps inside and she looks beautiful in a blush pink dress. “The bride wants you,” she says as she looks at me. I frown and she holds my hand, pulling me out of my room. “It’s bad luck to see the bride before the wedding,” says, and she waves me off. “You will not see her. She will be on the other side of the door and you will be back to back. She just needs to touch you for reas
Jo POV Dylan closed all the windows, not allowing me to lookout., I realised we were not in New York. The flight took longer than what it would take for new York. But I decided not to question him. He looks so lost and I feel like his heart is so broken that I wish I knew what to do. “Are you ready for this?” Dylan asks me and I nod as he holds my hand while we walk down the stairs that connect the private jet to the airport. Once outside, Dylan talks to the pilot while our things are brought out of the jet. He looks so confident when he is around other people, but when it’s the two of us, he looks broken. A minibus stops in front of us, and Dylan holds my hand, guiding towards it. The door opens and my eyes go wide and I squeal in happiness when I see Layla, Fred, Richard, and even Jude inside. “Welcome to your bachelorette party bus,” Dylan says as Jude, Fred, and Richard leave the bus, and I look around, not really understanding what is going on. “What?” I say, but I don’t even
