The nightmares resurfaced, again.

I can’t remember the last I felt my heart beating so slow, it felt as though any second now it would stop. We did not sleep at all, my mother’s face had gained a few wrinkles, I could tell that she was worried about me and was dying to ask me what was wrong.

I think she blamed herself, she kept apologizing all night and saying that none of this would have happened had she not insisted on the dinner. I had to escape from home because she would not let me out of her sight.

After promising to accompany Lizzy to the farm and that I would be there on time, there was no way I could disappoint her now, although I was strolling from the moment I left home. My mother had been too distracted with having a bath, she would be frantic when she finished and found me gone.
