Mag-log inZenith’s POV Silas swayed slightly where he stood, looking so…lost. The look in his eyes was so distant, it was like he didn't even know that he was standing there, it made something in my chest pull tight. Even the shape of my name on his mouth had felt far away, like he had spoken it from a dream. I stepped fully into the bathroom and went to him, his eyes never left me. Up close, he looked better than he did while he was still unconscious this morning. He looked more…alive. But the distant, weary look on his face worried me. “What’s wrong?” I asked. Silas only shook his head, giving no explanation to why he'd gotten out of bed, ripped out his IV and was now standing in front of a mirror, looking at himself. I did not believe him, something had to be wrong. Did he have a nightmare, or was this behavior perhaps, a side effect of his medication? I did not push. Because even if I did ask those questions right now, he didn't look like he would have a proper answer to give me.
Zenith’s POV I watched in silence as Dr. Joana moved silently around Silas's unconscious form on the bed, doing her final recheck, fingers precise as she verified that everything that needed to be intact still was. My settled again on my omega's pale skin against the sheets, an IV line fixed carefully into the back of his hand. He had not stirred once since he was taken to the hospital, not even when the medics transferred him, nor when the nurses cleaned the blood from his skin. Ziraa stood beside me, arms crossed over his chest, equally silent. Neither of us interrupted her work, as there was nothing useful either of us could say that would make Silas open his eyes faster. Finally, when Dr Joana finished, dhe rose from the bedside, gathered her instruments and turned to face us with a professional smile that did nothing to soften the fatigue around her eyes. She'd been awake all night, we all have. Except Silas. “His Majesty is alright for now,” she said before I could ask. M
Silas's Pov The shot rang through the forest, almost deafening. It felt as if the forest held its breath after, just like I did. Loud, sudden whimpers and violent thrashing made me open my eyes to see Caelum's wolf thrashing around. The sound of the shot was still ringing in my ears, my arms were still raised, fingers were still locked tightly around the weapon as I watched his wolf form twisting around. The scent of his toxic filled blood filled the air, and he snarled and snapped around, from rage and pain. Dirt and leaves churned beneath him with every frantic movement, especially when he tried to push up onto all fours, only for the injured limb to collapse under his weight and send him crashing sideways again, before he slowly went still. He was alive. My shoulders sagged in relief. I had half-expected a body unmoving, a life ended by my hand, or the one that terrified me the most, not aiming right and accidentally shooting his Majesty. I lowered my arms, the gun suddenl
Silas's Pov I ran as fast as I could. Branches whipped past my face and the ground rose and dipped unevenly beneath me. Stones and broken sticks dug into my bare feet with every step, sharp enough to make pain flare hard up through my soles, but I did not stop. Even though I did not know where I was going. The forest was dangerous, but it was still better than captivity. Better than sitting quietly while three Alphas carried me farther from my Alpha with every mile. I would rather be lost among the trees than remain in their hands and find out what they wanted from me. So I ran until my lungs gave out. When I finally stumbled to a stop, I breathed in and out of me so violently I had to bend forward and brace both hands against my knees. My chest burned, my throat felt scraped raw. For some minutes all I could do was stand there, bent over, shaking, dragging in breath after breath. When I was finally stable enough, I stood up straight and finally noticed the darkness around
Silas's Pov I could only stare at him. Why was he here? He should be back at the party, at his own mating ceremony, among his guests, among the wreckage and the fire and the chaos we had left behind. He shouldn't be standing here. But then, if he was here… Where was my Alpha? The question hollowed me out. Zenith should have been the one finding me. Zenith, or Zira, or Kyle, or anyone who belonged on my side of this nightmare. Instead it was the host of the ceremony, watching me with an expression that made the hairs on my skin stand erect. I took a step back. My heart was racing so hard it hurt. The way he looked at me felt so… wrong. But still, desperation made me stupid with hope. “Please,” I said, voice shaking. “Help him. The driver–he’s hurt. Please, we were in an accident, I can’t get him out, I–” Alpha Carlos’s expression softened at my words, “Of course,” he said gently. “You’ve been through enough already, haven’t you?” I looked at him in blatant confusion. What
Silas's Pov The first thing I noticed was the movement of the moonlight sky blurring past through the window, and the low, steady vibration of a car in motion traveled up through the seat and into my body. It took me a moment to understand where I was. My head felt heavy, and my mouth was dry. For a few disoriented seconds I only stared ahead, blinking against the dim interior light while my thoughts struggled to catch up with my body. Outside the windows, everything was dark. There was only an occasional smear of distant light sliding past the glass. Then slowly I began to remember… The party, the noise, the corridor, the fire, the screaming pain in my chest. I immediately tried to move. But the seatbelt caught me at once, locking hard across my chest and dragging a wince out of me. A dull, full-body ache flared at the movement, blooming through my ribs, my shoulders, the back of my neck. I groaned before I could stop myself. Every part of my body was sore in a deep, exhau
They shoved me through a heavy metal door into a stark white room. At first glance, it looked like a laboratory. Pristine white walls, harsh overhead lights that buzzed faintly, and a long metal table against one wall neatly arranged with vials of chemicals, syringes, wires, and strange metallic
Silas's Pov The first lash landed across my back like fire, and I screamed, curling into myself as the second lash followed. White-hot pain exploded across my spine, stealing the air from my lungs. The third lash, however, did not come. Through the haze of agony, I slowly opened my eyes and was s
Silas's Pov:The first thing I felt was the weight of the thick, silk blankets that draped over me, pulsing with a wonderful, addicting scent. It was cedarwood, tinged with that undeniably good Alpha pheromones.I opened my eyes and my heart immediately leaped into my throat. Memories of last night
Silas POV “Silas, you need to listen to me,” Dr. Stephen said slowly, looking into my eyes like he was hoping I'd listen to everything that was about to come out of his mouth. I already knew where this was going. “Your system is under incredible strain. These suppressants….they aren't meant for
