Later in the afternoon, at nearly six in the evening, I visit the Police station to pay my friend a visit. Jerome has been here for more than a month now. I hope he will have a little more patience.

“Sir Evan, are you paying a visit again?” Arnold questions me while he is in the parking lot texting someone.

I halt my footsteps and shake my head a bit with these fruits on a basket. He follows me to the basement, and Jerome sits at the table, eating his ration from the local government. He is a high-risk persona, so we must keep an eye on him.

“How are you?” I ask him, and Jerome immediately drinks some water to push the ground food inside his mouth.

“Eat with me, sir,” he offers, but I decline because it’s all his food. Jerome continues eating while I peel an apple for him.

“How’s your feeling?”

He twitches a quick smile. I know this is not his typical self. “Someone goes here by the name of emissary. I don’t know him, but he seems familiar by face.
