Chapter 9
Victor narrates.
I asked myself on several occasions why I saved Elizabeth from her father since at another time I might not even have stopped to look at that scene. I felt like an intruder in that house but at the same time like a hero confronting a villain.
I promised her that I would never touch her again without her permission and I left her room, I will never forget the look on her face as she lay passed out on the floor full of household objects.
Her face at that moment was one of relief.
Bernard was teaching the new house butlers, he knew how suspicious I could be of everything in my home.
As I walk down the hall and past my father's room I remember clearly the first time I met Joshua Van Hellfrost.
