Chapter Six

She looked at the sweater as she said some words. She looked up at Alex and she shook her head.

“What is that supposed to mean?” Alex asked her.

“The person you are looking for doesn’t exist. I could use a blood spell to find her if you want. It would be stronger than a tracking spell” she said to him.

Alexander was about to agree to it but a thought crossed his mind. What if he wasn’t her blood brother? What if they had different blood running through their veins? Was he ready to find out the truth? He shook his head.

“Try again, you must have missed something” Alexander said to her.

“I am sure that I did not miss anything. I think it would be faster if you just give me your blood” she said to him.

“No! Try again. Something is wrong, just please, try again” he said to her.

“Alexander, are you okay?” Bennie asked him.

“I am, I just don’t think she should be doing blood magic” Alexander said to him.

“i could try again and then if I still can’t find her then we might have to consider blood magic” Lois said to him.

Alexander said a silent prayer to the moon goddess as Lois chanted. The sweater started to float in the air. Alexander smiled to her and Bennie as he looked at them.

“We have to follow the sweatshirt” she said to him.

Alexander nodded at her and they followed the sweater up to Cathy’s house. Alexander was confused. Why the hell would his sister he here.

“Are you sure that this is your sister’s sweatshirt?” Lois asked him

“Of course it is. I know my sister’s clothes. I don’t think I would have an issue identifying what belongs to my sister” Alexander said to her.

“Then what is she doing here?” Lois asked him.

“I… I don’t know. There is only one way to find out. C’mon. We have to get her and get the hell out of here” Alexander said to her.

“He is right. The sooner we find her, the sooner we can leave. The last thing we need is someone lying against us and then we get killed like Julian” Bennie said to them.

The sweater kept floating ahead and it led them to the garden. Bennie stopped abruptly in front of him. Alexander and Lois bumped into him and Alex nudged him out of the way.

“Why the hell did you stop like that?” Alexander asked him.

“Cathy is here” Bennie said as he pointed to a figure at the center of the garden.

It seemed that she heard him because she turned around immediately. Alexander walked forward and he saw that she had been crying. He wanted to touch her face and ask her what had gotten her so upset but then he remembered why he was here. His emotions became hard almost immediately.

“First, you accuse my dad of killing your friend and now you are in his house, in his garden. What the hell do you want?” she said to him.

“My sister is missing and she is here! Somebody here took her. I want my sister back” he said to her.

“Somebody here took your sister? Are you crazy? Why is it so convenient for you to blame somebody else for your misfortune? Your sister is not here. You should leave” Cathy said to him.

“Lois did a spell. It led us here. Where is my sister? I wouldn’t ask again!” he said to her as he growled.

“She is not here. I just said that! What are you saying? My father took your sister? You are really sick in the head! Why the hell would he take your sister?” she asked him.

“Your father knows that I detest him with every part of my being. I have not hid it and I would never hide it! I hate your father and I hate the way he runs the valley! If he is trying to get to me, taking my sister is a cowardly move to make! He can come for me instead and we will see who wins in the end” Alexander said to her. *

“Cowardly? Don’t you speak about my father that way. In case you have forgotten, he is still your alpha and you need to respect him!” she said to him.

“I could hear you screaming all the way from inside. What the hell is going on out here?” Carson said as he joined them.

“Oh, here comes the mini Alpha, the one that is supposed to take Carlos’ place when he dies. Let’s hope you would do a better job than your father is doing” Alexander said to him.

“You can be killed for the things you say. Are you aware of that?” Cathy said to him.

“Hey, hold on. Let me handle this. You must be Alex. I jave heard so much about you from my sister. It is nice to finally meet you. What brings you to these parts of the valley? You hate my father and my family so much! Why are you here?” he asked him.

“My sister is here and I want her back!” he said to Carson.

“Your sister is here? Your sister is a child and she could be anywhere. We don’t have her here!” Carson said, defensively.

“Guys?” Lois called.

“She is here, I know she is. Lois never gets her spells wrong!” Alex said to him.

”Guys!” Lois called again.

“Well, go ahead, take a tour and find out that she is not here. I know that my father is a lot of things and he has made some mistakes but he wouldn’t take a child. He has a rule of keeping children under the age of sixteen out of harm’s way. He wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize their safety!” Carson said to him.

“Guys!” Lois screamed louder.

“What?” Alex asked her.

She pointed to the sweatshirt that laid on the floor.

“See, she was wrong!” Cathy said to him.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” Alexander said, looking at Lois.

“It means that she is inside the ground. It means that she is buried. That was why I couldn’t find her when I did the first spell. She wasn’t on the surface of the earth. She was in it, below the surface. She is buried right here!” Lois said, fear written in her voice.

Alexander picked up the sweatshirt and with a force stronger than him, the sweatshirt was pulled back to the ground. Alexander looked at her. She said a couple of words and then the sweatshirt became lifeless again. Bennie squatted to inspect the ground.

“It looks like it was just dug. Can I get a shovel? Two, preferably” he said to Carson

Carson nodded and headed to get two shovels. He came back with them and Alexander took one from him. They dug for ten minutes when they hit a box. Tears welled up in Alexander’s eyes. He wiped them away with the back of his hand. He and Bennie lifted the box and brought it out of the hole. Lois could see the horror in Cathy’s eyes and the surprise in Carson’s. Alexander tried to open the box and he couldn’t. Cathy knelt down next to him and inspected the lock.

“It doesn’t have a key hole, it is magic” she said to him.

Lois said a couple of words and the lock clicked open. Alexander opened the box and Arielle laid there, in some sort of deep slumber.

“I don’t understand. Whoever did this had the help of a powerful witch” Lois said to them.

“Why do you think so?” Cathy asked her.

“This sleeping spell is not a regular one. It is almost as old as the first generation of witches. There is just something about it that doesn’t add up” Lois said to her.

Cathy and Carson looked at each other. Bennie noticed it and he decided to ignore it. He knew that they were hiding something but he also knew that Alex wasn’t going to be giving them the benefit of doubt if they knew who was behind it. Alex was already so upset and he wasn’t listening to anybody.

“Can you break the spell?” Alexander asked her.

“I can try to break the spell. I don’t know how much damage I would be doing to myself in the process. A spell like this required a large amount of power to be cast. That is why I am wondering why someone would go through the stress of putting her under a spell as powerful as this just so they can keep her buried” Lois said to him.

“How much power do you need?” Carson asked him.

“A wolf or two, maybe. Alex, I might have to channel your wolf strength but I doubt if that would be enough since you have not transformed yet. I would need someone else too” Lois said to him.

“Let me do it. I might not have transformed yet but I have the blood of an Alpha running through my veins and I am the next alpha. That has to count for something” Carson said to him.

“No, I am enough and if I am not, Bennie would suffice. He has already transformed and he would be more than enough” Alexander said to him.

“Actually, I think it is best that we channel Carson’s strength because he does have royal blood running through his veins. If we encounter any blockages, the strength of a royal blood would give us easier access. The spell is older than I am. If I make one mistake, we could lose your sister forever” Lois said to him.

“Do not let your hatred for my father blind you. Let me help” Carson said to him.

Alexander took a deep breath and looked at him. He nodded at Lois and she got to work. After making a circle with white sand, she asked the both of the to lay down in it. She started to chant and Alex felt himself drift from his body. He closed his eyes and embraced whatever was there to come. Lois opened her eyes and she looked at him. She couldn’t explain what was happening but she had never felt something so powerful, someone so powerful and she knew that it wasn’t the blood of the Alpha to be. She knew that power wasn’t coming from him. It was coming from Alex. He was different and she knew. He was powerful. She touched Arielle and her eyes opened immediately. Lois dropped on her knees, feeling drained. Alexander and Carson opened their eyes and the same time. He sat up and looked at his sister. She was sitting up too

“Alex… what happened?” she asked him.

“Hey kid. I was hoping that you could tell your big brother what happened to you” he said to her as he lifted her from the box.

“The last thing I remember was a guard picking me up from school. They took me to this car and I met their father in the car and a woman. She could do magic. She looked a lot like her” Arielle said, pointing to Cathy.

“You still think that your father is the noble king in shining armor? You still think that I am making it up? You still think my hate is not justified?” Alexander said as he looked at Carson and Cathy, his eyes filled with rage.

“Your hate is very justified but you can’t act out. Your sister is still dosed with magic so I advise that you take her home so she can get the rest that she needs while you let us handle this. Let me find out all I can about this witch and then I would know what to do from there. I might be Carlos’ son but I do not stand for unjustified murder and that is what this is but we have no evidence that my father is behind this so just go home and let me handle it” Carson said to him.
