Chapter 5

Dylan was sitting at the desk, reviewing the pack's savings, when Kevin slams the door and walks in without waiting for an answer. The Alpha looks up at his Beta, who lands in the chair in front of Dylan's desk.

- Why do you knock on the door if you go in without giving me time to answer? - asks, tired of repeating the same thing.

Kevin shakes his hand off, which makes Dylan take a deep breath.

- Your luck is that before being my Beta you were my nephew. – Dylan leans back in his chair and asks – Did the kid tell you everything?

- Yeah, and it's a fucked up story.

Kevin tells Ryan's story and Dylan leans forward, resting his elbows on the table and his fists under his chin, listening.

When Kevin finishes, Dylan's expression leaves him confused.

- What is the reason for this expression?

- I don't know Kevin. That kid can bring danger to the pack.

'- The pup's not dangerous - Kevin says.

- No, the kid isn't, but if he has a pack looking for him, that could bring problems for us.

- I understand, but they lost track of him after his mother died. The kid has been living in the forests for three years and they've never found him.

- Let's hope you're right. Let's keep him under surveillance for now. We'll see later what to do. Now I have a more pressing matter to attend to.

- Luna?

- Of course it's the Luna. She mad at me.

Kevin laughs

- You're laughing because you still don't have a mate. When you find yours, you'll see. Shewolves are very wild.

- What was it this time? – Kevin asked.

- She misses our son – Kevin raises his eyebrows – don't make that face. She is missing our son, and just because I told her that our son is coming back in 2 months and that she was being dramatic, she kicked me out of the room saying that I was a heartless father and that I was going to sleep in the office until our son returns.

Kevin laughs out loud.

- Alpha, sorry, but even I, who don't have a mate, know that you should never accuse a woman of being dramatic. You put your paw in the pot. Now you have to endure it.

- Come on Kevin, be a good Beta and ask your mother to talk with Luna. I want to sleep in my bed.

At that moment, the office door opens and Amy enters.

- I'm not going to talk with your mate. My room is right below yours and I'm tired of not being able to sleep because you two are like rabbits in bed.

Kevin puts his hand over his mouth and laughs, as Dylan gives him a menacing look.

- What a sweet big sister I have. Don't forget that the rooms are soundproof, otherwise nobody will sleep in the pack house, because you and your mate look like teens in heat.

Kavin chuckles and Amy smacks him over the head.

- Order a car for me. I have to go into town to shop. - Amy says.

- Only if you talk to the Luna.

- Shame on you, a blackmailing alpha. - Amy says, shaking her head.

- Amy, you're so mean. It's because of you that dad waited 10 years to have me.

Kavin, at this point, was crying and laughing, with his hands over his face, trying in vain to hide it.

- OK, I'll talk to Luna, but I don't guarantee she'll change her mind. Now what about the car?

- I already called one. Go there and spend your mate's money.

Amy turns, walks to the door, saying:

- It's not my mate's money, It's pack money. I'm going to buy things for Ryan.

Dylan bangs his head on top of the secretary. He worried about the pack's finances and his sister spending money.

- Are you alright? - Kevin asks with a chuckle.

- your mother is too much. - Dylon sighs. - Go get the boy. I want to talk a little with him.

Kevin gets up and goes to get Ryan.

When he arrives at Ryan's door, he knocks on the door but doesn't hear any response. He looks at the guard, who returns the look with a shrug.

Kevin opens the door slowly and went into the room. Ryan was lying down and fast asleep. Kevin looked at him. His mother did a good job. Ryan was unrecognizable. With pity, he puts his hand on Ryan's shoulder and gently shakes him.

Ryan opens his eyes, not recognizing where he is. When he looks at Kevin, he remembers and smiles.

- Sorry to wake you up, but the Alpha wants to talk to you.

Ryan gets up uncomfortable.

- Don't be afraid, he just wants to talk to you. Let's go? - he asked, holding out his hand.

Ryan grabs Kevin's hand, and follows him.

The two, followed by the guard, go down the stairs, towards the Alpha's office.

There's a knock on the door and when a loud “come in” comes from behind it, Kevin opens the door and walks in whit Ryan, , leaving the third man at the door.

Dylon raises an eyebrow when he sees the two holding hands and Ryan withdraws his hand.

With a gesture, he asks Ryan to sit down, and Kevin sits in the chair next to him.

- I already know your story. Kevin told me everything. I'm sorry about everything that happened to you, but I need to ask a few more things.

Ryan looks up from his lap, and looks at the Alpha.

- In the last 3 years, have you ever felt them close? The men who are looking for you?

- No sir. I just went out of the woods to buy things I couldn't get myself, like soap and toothpaste. The other things, I managed as best I could. As you can imagine, without money I couldn't buy much.

- But do you plan to spend the rest of your life in the forest?

- No, I planned to stay until I was at least 19, and then go look for work in the city, and mix with humans forever.

- And your wolf liked that idea?

- No, because in the city I couldn't shift, but he accepted it because it was the safest for us.

- You have no idea which pack your father's the Alfa?

- No sir. It was the only thing my mother refused to tell me. All I know is that the pack Luna is called Stephany. It was the name my mother called the woman who killed her. Luna Stephany.

Kevin looks at his uncle and he shrugs. Neither one nor the other remembered having met a pack in which the luna was called Stephany.

- You can go back to the room. That's all I wanted to know. Or you can go for a walk around the pack, accompanied by Eddy, if you prefer.

- I'll take a walk around the pack. The week I spent in the dungeons depressed Ice, my wolf. We were both used to seeing the sky all the time.

Dylan smiles and calls Eddy, the guard, ordering him to accompany Ryan on a tour of the pack's land.

Eddy nods, and the two leave.

Didn't the author write Ryan was small for his age? He was alone for 3 years so maybe social development is lacking.
