Emily’s heart pounded heavily as Lucien’s words echoed over and over in her mind.
"You never belonged here."
The world swayed. She drew away from Alexander's hold, her fingers shaking and her breaths shallow. Her father was in front of her and alive, the same man she had seen in spurts of blood and fire in her dreams.
Alexander spoke in a tense, hardly contained rage. "Don't listen to him, Emily."
Lucien’s red eyes gleamed. “She already is.”
Emily's throat was dry as she swallowed. A tempest was raging deep inside of her. For a long time now she had searched for answers, but now that the answers were stirring to her face, she wasn't certain she wanted them.
Lucien stretched his hand towards her and in a softer tone uttered. “Come with me. I will show you the truth.”
A choice.
And she didn’t know which path would destroy her more.
---
Alexander stepped forward, placing himself between Emily and Lucien. “You’re not taking her anywhere.”
Lucien sighed, almost amused. “It’s not your decision, Beta.”
Alexander growled, his muscles tensing as if ready to shift. “Like hell it isn’t.”
Emily looked between them, torn. With the weight of her choice bearing down on her chest, the air crackled with tension.
She turned to Alexander, voice trembling. "I might never get the answers I need if I don't go."
His expression hardened. "And you might never return if you leave."
She felt sick deep inside her stomach and felt reluctant to leave him. However, she was unable to ignore the void in her heart and the parts of herself that Lucien held.
“I have to know,” she muttered.
Alexander tightened his jaw. And for the first time, she saw it, the fear in his eyes.
Fear of losing her.
---
Lucien smirked. "Don't you sense it? The pull toward your true pack?”
Emily recoiled. She aimed to avoid developing any feelings for this man, yet her body deceived her. A whisper of familiarity. A flicker of connection.
Alexander saw it, and his wolf bristled. “You’re manipulating her.”
Lucien chuckled. “Am I? Or is she just realizing the reality?
Emily pressed a hand against her chest gently where her heart raced intensely. There was this strange feeling she suddenly experienced. She felt something was stirring inside of her. But was it the truth or just another lie?
She turned to Alexander. “Will you let me go?”
His expression darkened. “Not without a fight.”
Lucien’s smirk deepened. “Then fight me.”
---
Alexander made no hesitation.
With a deep growl, he charged forward, his wolf seizing control. Lucien evaded with ease, his actions overly calculated, overly exact.
Emily gasped as the two clashed, claws tearing through the air.
Alexander was strong, relentless, but Lucien was faster. Like a ghost, he moved in anticipation of each attack before it came.
And then…
A blur of movement.
Lucien dodged, twisting behind Alexander, his claws pressing against his throat.
Emily’s breath caught. “Stop!”
Lucien stilled. Then, slowly, he released Alexander and stepped back. “See, my child?” he said smoothly. “This pack has made you weak.”
Alexander wiped the blood from his chin, golden eyes blazing. “She’s not yours.”
Lucien’s lips curled. “Then let her decide.”
---
Emily stood frozen, heart hammering against her ribs.
She turned to Alexander. His body was battered, his chest rising and falling heavily. But his eyes, his eyes were filled with nothing but her.
And then she looked at Lucien.
Her past.
Her blood.
Her truth.
Her voice wavered. “If I go with you… will I remember?”
Lucien smiled. “Yes.”
As though fighting the want to seize her, Alexander's fingers trembled. "If you accompany him... Bringing you back will be very difficult.
Emily's throat became constricted.
One step. That was all it would take.
One step toward the past.
Or one step back to the man who had never stopped fighting for her.
---
Emily exhaled shakily.
And then
She stepped forward.
Alexander's whole body became rigid as his breath caught.
Lucien grinned more broadly.
But Emily didn’t stop. She moved slowly, deliberately
And then, at the last second, she turned back, her fingers brushing against Alexander’s.
A silent promise.
One he didn’t understand yet.
Lucien’s eyes flickered with something unreadable. “A wise choice.”
Emily forced herself to breathe.
She wasn’t doing this for Lucien.
She was doing this for herself.
---
As they moved deeper into rogue territory, Emily felt the shift in the air. The trees loomed taller, the scent of wolves unfamiliar yet strangely comforting.
She should have been afraid.
But she wasn’t.
Not yet.
Lucien led her to a hidden stronghold, nestled deep within the forest. A place untouched by the Moonshadow Pack.
The moment she stepped inside, whispers filled the air.
“She’s back.”
“The lost heir.”
Emily’s stomach twisted. They had been waiting for her.
But why?
And what had she just walked into?
---
Lucien took her to a dimly lit chamber, walls lined with old scrolls and faded maps. At the center, a massive crest was carved into stone.
A crest identical to the mark on her shoulder.
Her breath caught.
Lucien stepped forward, his voice quiet but firm. “This is your legacy.”
Emily’s fingers traced the symbol, a strange heat blooming beneath her skin.
She turned to Lucien. “Tell me the truth.”
His red eyes gleamed. “You were never meant to be their Luna, my child.”
He took a step closer, his voice dipping into something almost reverent.
“You were meant to rule.”
---
Emily has walked into the heart of the rogues, only to discover that she isn’t just their lost Beta but she’s their rightful leader. But can she trust the truth Lucien is feeding her, or is she being shaped into something she was never meant to be?
Emily felt uneasy looking at Marcus as he stood in the dark. His face was hard to read, but his words were simple but full of danger. He held a glowing object in his grip. Her heart pounded seeing his face from the light of the glowing object.“The prophecy has already started,” Marcus' voice was quiet and cold like he had been waiting for this moment a long time.Emily felt sick inside. She had always thought the prophecy meant more than others knew, but this felt like the final part of a mystery she wasn’t meant to solve. Her destiny wasn’t just about uniting the pack. It revolved around ruin, disorder, and brutality.“What are you saying?”Emily asked with a shaking voice but she remained composed. She was no longer the girl who had felt lost and confused. She had acquired the skills to combat challenges, remaining resilient in the presence of doubt. Yet, this was an entirely different type of conflict.Marcus's lips turned into a slight, joyless smile. “You’ve been deceived, Emily
The wolves suddenly attacked them. Emily showed no fear, even though her heart was racing and the wolf's sharp teeth in the moonlight looked scary. She stayed calm. Not one bit of fear. She had prepared herself for the battle that had been simmering for years by training for this very moment. Marcus's voice repeatedly echoed in her mind in the heart of the moment."You can't stop Damien at all. You’re meant to serve him.”It took only the jarring of the words to temporarily divert her attention. Suddenly a wolf sprang at her but she staggered back in an attempt to avoid the attack.Alexander appeared immediately, his form shielding hers as he faced the wolf with a violent snarl. His actions were smooth, rehearsed, a whirlwind of power and velocity as he battled to defend her.But Emily had changed from the girl she once was. She wasn’t going to let him fight alone. She shifted.---The transformation happened quickly, violently, and she felt a wave of strength tear through her. Bigger
Emily closed and opened her eyes several times and even had to pinch herself to see if she was dreaming, but there was no change, this was no dream but reality. The darkness remained, heavy and oppressive, pressing in on her chest, she was fully awake. She patiently listened if she could hear any sounds but could only hear her own breath sound, shallow and frantic, it was as though her body was desperately fighting against the invisible chains that bound her.Her heart pounded in her chest, where was Alexander? Where were the others? In the darkness, her eyes strained, but nothing was there, no form, no shape. Nothing except emptiness. Then a voice. Broke through the silence. It was a cold and low sound that sent a chill down her very spine."Emily, you're special, very special."Her pulse quickened. It was her father's voice, and it wasn't simply recognizable. However, how is that possible? Was she dreaming? The heaviness of the words felt overwhelmingly real, almost tangible, to be
The woman turned to Emily as they arrived at a place tucked away in the trees. Her eyes were burning with a resolve that betrayed years of longing."Emily, you have to realize something," the woman continued. “There are those within the pack who have been working against you. They are afraid of what comes with the truth hence they do not want you to know the truth by all means. A few of them continue to support Damien.Emily felt the realization hitting her like a jolt. “Who? Who was working against her inside the pack?”The woman hesitated, then spoke quietly. “Elder Marcus.”Emily’s heart skipped a beat hearing the name. Marcus? The elder who had been so kind, so helpful? Same person who'd helped her get through her worst hours?Emily objected with a shaking voice, "but all along he's been helping me, why would he want to betray me?”Marcus the Elder. Emily was surprised at the mention of the name. Her thoughts raced as she attempted to make sense of the man who had been supportive
Alexander stood at the boundary of the clearing as the night breath felt burdensome and night wrapped in anxiety. His gaze probes the shadowy wilderness outside the Moonshadow Pack’s territory. Behind him was the firelight dancing and projected long shadows that were unusually not on the ground, yet he stayed focused, and reminded himself of the changes that kept unfolding.Emily sat by the fire as it kept burning, she was lost I. Thoughts while twisting a piece of leather she had found earlier. The weight of Elder Marcus's revelation earlier that day ran all through her mind. The truth about her father, the Rogue King, had broken what little was left of the delicate world she had been trying to establish with Alexander. And now, with Alpha Damien’s blood still hot on their trail, the stakes were higher than ever.Alexander could feel it in his bones the pull between them was stronger than it had ever been, but so were the barriers that kept them apart. She had undergone numerous chan
The moonlight hung low on the Moonshadow Pack grounds illuminating it. Emily's heart raced as the vision disturbed her sleep, in the cold air her breath became hazy. Broken memories of treachery, blood, and fire pushed its way to the surface as she trembled as a searing. Alexander drew her close and wrapped his arms around her from behind sensing her discomfort. The cold perspiration that was trickling down her neck clashed with his warmth. Even though her senses indicated otherwise, she hoped the sight was just an illusion."You were there... in the fire," she mumbled. "You were bleeding. You said my name."Alexander stiffened. "That night," he said quietly, "I thought I lost you. I fought my way back from death... for you."Emotionally they were troubled. Emily faced him in an instant and searched his eyes for confirmation. As she did, a flash of silver glinted in the dark behind them. Someone was watching. Alexander’s head snapped toward the trees, his Beta instincts fully awakened
