Prologue

"I am sorry" I pleaded with my eyes closed. I could feel him breath near my neck. He started choking my neck, making me gasp for air due to lack of air. My eyes turned bright red.

I always prayed someone could save me. I wanted this everyday pain to go away but all my prayers were vain.

"Please.. I beg you" I begged again and in front of someone who loved seeing me in this pathetic situation. For once I wanted to be stronger in front of him, for once I wanted to be brave.

"Tell me who you are?" He spoke, mocking me. Why? Because he liked my answer.

"Speak. You disaster" He barked in front of my face. He never once called me with my real name instead gave me dirty names.

"I..am.." I sobbed tears Fallin down my cheeks. This whole time I kept my eyes closed.

"Open your eyes" He commanded, pulling my hair back. Because of his everyday pulling of hair my scalp gets swollen. I tried opening my eyes but it was difficult. My eyes felt heavy due to lack of sleep and crying. When I was not doing as his command.

He himself forced my upper eyelids to open wide with his two fingers and I knew he would never leave me if I didn't do as per his requirement because his hold on neck was getting tighter and tighter.

"I am yours" I told him, shivering. He released his hand from my neck and pushed my body down on the floor and laughed hysterically. He loved when I submitted to him and I never said no to him.

Why ?

Because that way he would leave me alone. That was the only way which kept me going till now.

He wasn't the villain of my story, it was me.

Lyra Pov - It's been 19 years since he had taken me away from my home. "Will I ever be free again, Will I ever be happy? " These questions are eating me up these days. Lyra Pov There was not much on the plate, a few loaves of bread, finely cutted meat, soup and some greens. It was just a simple dinner with a small portion of food but somehow this dinner was so overwhelming for me that I lost my appetite.
