Three- Finding Kiara

Red pointy nails scratched the glass frame housing Nathan and his mate's picture, mainly at his mate.

Jessica couldn't hold the hate brimming within her at his chosen mate.

This was supposed to be her smiling beside the Alpha, her arms clocked together with his not Kiara.

Nate, the soon-to-be Alpha and the instant position of his mate as the Luna of the pack should all be hers but somehow her naivety and immaturity as a teen made her lose it all but all hope was not lost.

The reason why she was here.

The door clicked, startling her before it drew apart and revealing the one person she thought she was mentally ready to see and speak to but clearly she wasn't.

Nathan weighed on his decision to speak to Jess, he could just turn his back and leave for his room to rest by Kiara's side but he could feel that cursed draw to meet her.

He can't help it even if he wanted nothing to do with her.

Plus, he needed answers to those buried questions of his.

He approached his office where Ryan said she was waiting for him, his heart rate had not stopped going higher than normal, it felt just like the first time.

Cursing silently, he took a deep breath trying to calm his thoughts down.

This is nothing, he can do this and get over with her.

Just one talk and that's all.

With a shuddering breath, he pushed the door open. The dark outcast of a dimly lit room was all he saw but the little lamp sitting on his desk reflected a familiar face.

One he hasn't seen in four years.

The room fell in silence as their eyes met each other's faces.

It felt as though they were in their world alone, they could hear their racing thoughts. Nathan slowly trailed his eyes to her face, recognizing the sparkle in her emerald orbs, her beautiful almond eyes staring back at him.

He remembered her angular feminine face, plump lips and straight slim nose and how his fingers cleared her wavy blonde hair away from her face four years ago. With her standing in front of him and no significant change in her frame it felt just like yesterday.

The day she rejected him.

Jessica took in everything about the man standing in front of her. He was nothing like the man she left four years back.

He was everything in a man she needed. His physique, the brilliance in his blue eyes not the ones that blinked awkwardly when they kissed in the past. They had the fierce confidence of a man now not a boy.

His Aura said it all.

Her heart raced unevenly as she studied him further, shameless. His brown hair fell in small locks just above his thick brows. His frame was much bigger than his old self, more like the perfect Alpha standard.

The casual dark shirt he wore hugged his muscled biceps tightly, revealing the outline of his taut chest. She felt like running her hands on him, desperate to feel what he has become.

A little scratch of his shoes against the floorboard drew her out of her daydream into reality. The air suddenly felt tense, filled with unspoken memories of the times they once had. She couldn't ignore the sizzling attraction still brewing between them.

She feared he had gotten rid of her out of his heart since he moved on with another woman, but his eyes told another story. They were filled with pain and uncertainty.

It felt like all these years, he fought against his love for her and never moved on as she envisaged.

Once inside, he pushed the door to close without removing his eyes from her. It felt strange to be under his scrutiny, such intense stare.

The room was filled with an overbearing tension, suffocating both of them.

Nathan couldn't stand her presence and can't leave either. He wished things never changed between them but she was hell-bent on making it different.

Why then is she here? To rub on his wounds and laugh in his face. He thought Kiara was enough for him to get over Jess.

He wanted that to be the case but it wasn't.

The emotions he tried getting over were brimming on the surface about to fall.

It made all the difference in the world.

He studied her once more, she looks the same but much different at the same time. She always had this confidence but this time in front of him it dwindled a little, probably for the best.

Her hair was longer in the usual waves that framed her face. While her tall slender body was wrapped in a decent but fitted dress revealing her slender curve to her long long legs.

She looked perfect, beautiful as always.

Clearing her throat, she tried to make her way to him. "Nathan—" She called out but he turned his back on her quickly.

"What are you doing here?" He cut her off, masking the emotions in his words so they come out blank.

"It's been so long." She replied, her voice much closer than he wanted, she was right behind him.

She walks to his front searching for his face, hoping he spares her a glance, "Nathan, please look at me."

Startling her, he gripped her arm so tight she knew his fingers would get imprinted on her skin. Stifling a gasp from the pain emanating from her arm, she tried to look at him but dropped down her gaze submissively seeing how angered he was.

His blue orbs raged like dangerous waves during a storm, if she dared to get him out of this state she might get scalded.

"Why are you here?" He asked coldly, roaming his eyes over her in sheer contempt.

"I wish I could kill you here and now," He spat out.

Jessica winced at how tight his grip has become.

"Why not do it? What's stopping you, Nathan?" She taunts.

"Why not kill your fated mate?"

"I should have done that the day you rejected me." He let go of her arm, relishing how she winced visibly from the pain.

"You have a mate you choose for yourself, and from what I heard you are quite happy with her but it seemed as though you can't move on from whatever we had."

He passed a sharp glare at her, "I only came here to end this, don't get delusional."

"Yet you are here with me not her." Her index finger caressed his jaw sensually. The air they both breathe felt electrified, her scent was intoxicating.

It has been so long since he had a whiff of her, taking a handful of her hair he lifted it to his nose, inhaling it. The primal urge to mate her brewing deep within.

He stared deep within her emerald orbs glowing slightly in his dim office.

He could see she felt the same for him

"I am your mate, Nathan, you shouldn't fight it," she urged, closing up the proximity between them slowly.

He could feel her wolf, how excited it was but oddly his was unresponsive.

He gently cleared the hair on her face, leaning closer to brush his lips with hers and as he expected she returned his kiss. Kissing her felt so right, it was like a part of him he tried killing was resurrecting.

A little flint turning in a flame, the empty feeling he chose to ignore all these years finally filling up.

She was the one the moon goddess chose for him to spend his life with. She has always been the one.

But a familiar hazel pair of orbs flashed in his head.

Kiara.

No! What is he doing?

He pushed Jessica away from him, hating how much he let his feelings cloud his logic. Shock was expressed on her face.

"You are thinking of her, aren't you?"Jess muttered.

"You need to go, not only from my office, but from this pack and my life."

"I reject the same way you did four years back. We share nothing together anymore."

"We just shared a kiss, and it didn't feel like rejection to me. I am your rightful mate," she insisted.

"You rejected me, remember?"He retorted, laughing at how stupid he was to let the natural attraction between them get over his reasoning.

He has almost forgotten just how much hurt she caused him.

"I was young, immature and stupid. I was confused as well. Those four years of mine were lived only in regret. I never stopped thinking about the moments we shared."

She paused for a while, "I only came back because of you. I need you as my mate, we are mates, Nathan you can't deny that." She tried reaching for him but Nate jerked himself out of her reach.

"Kiara is my mate not you and you should leave."

He walks to the door to leave when he turns to face her distraught face one last time, "Lest I forget, nothing happened here between us. "

The slam of the door against its lock made her flinch.

Nate couldn't get himself over from feeling guilty. He can't believe he kissed Jessica and was just infatuated with her as well.

He couldn't bring himself to agree that he cheated on Kiara.

Pushing the door to his room open, the sight of her sleeping put him at rest. He leaned over to her side, staring softly at her.

"I am so sorry."
