Christine's pov

“What do you mean you couldn’t?” I snapped.

My voice echoed against the high walls of the penthouse, slicing through the silence like a blade. It was a simple chore. Get rid of Bella. That was it. What’s so difficult about dealing with a walking disaster in borrowed skin?

“She went out…” Carl mumbled, eyes cast downward like a dog waiting for a beating.

“And why didn't you follow her, genius?”

“She went out… with Edward.” What? With my Edward?

The words slammed into my chest like a metal door. My blood started to boil just by listening to that plague’s name again. For a moment I stood there, blinking, trying to control the tremor in my hands. Bella. Bella. That wretched, clingy name again and again.

I began pacing the room, my heels thudding against the marble floor. The fury was simmering now, growing hotter with every step. “This is bad,” I muttered. “That Bella person… she’s not just a threat. She’s a time bomb.” I had plotted a perfect plan. A flawless, sur

  • The Love I Couldn't See   Edward

Edward's pov“Bella,” I called out the moment I realised she was not on my side. My feet halted as my eyes roamed around, looking for her — until I found her, a few deets back. Glued to the floor, with her hands pressing hard on her ears. Eyes on the floor. Glitching — blinking as if she was in the middle of a shooting.I rushed toward her, “Bella,” but she wouldn't raise her eyes. My hands flew to her shoulders. She was cold. Quivering hard enough to repel my touch. “Bella, are you sick?” She was okay this morning. Right? Then what was that? “Bella, look at me.” She shook her head. Closing her eyes tight. Her breathing getting worse in each passing second.“I need to go,” she whispered. But before she could move I wrapped my arms around her. Tight. Out of dread, or maybe panic. What else could I do?“Breathe,” I said. Her hands reached for my suit, gripping it. Pulling me closer then the word itself. “Breathe,” She buried her face in my chest. Breathing in. Breathing out. Rapid, but

  • The Love I Couldn't See   I'm Here

Bella's pov It's today. Weekend. Saturday. Forty seven minutes past nine and, eight, nine, ten, eleven… Seconds passing. Time. They are waiting for me downstairs, but my body refuses to move. “She told him…” She told him I was to pretend to be her mother… Till that point everything was okay. The problem is that being her mother implies one specific thing… “Being his wife.” I whispered to the silence. Closed my eyes tight, but nothing would smooth the thought. With all the strength of my body, I walked once again to my dresser, to glance at that girl in the mirror. She was wearing that beautiful pinkish dress her supposed husband gave to her not too long ago. For the first time in a while she decided to wear high heels, to give her face a little more care — to highlight her eyes behind her glasses lenses… To let her curls free. “Pretty.” I nodded in accordance. Using all my brain capabilities to ignore my racing heart, and sweaty hands. “It's today or never.” I said to myself, wa

  • The Love I Couldn't See   Why Are You Blushing?

Bella's pov “But I'm taking you with me.” He said, but my mind refused to process. “What?!” “You're coming.” he replied, as casually as if he was asking me to grab his keys, make breakfast… even climbing a mountain seems to be easier. “I…” “Nop.” He cut me off. “But…” “Bella,” He shook his head. His beep ocean blue eyes fixed on me. “It was not a question,” “But, I can't, I…” a heavy sigh left my lungs, “you saw what happened today… I,” The words got stuck in my throat as the memories flashed in my mind, still fresh, vivid. How… weak. How vulnerable I was. “I couldn't even…” My eyes went down. I couldn't do anything. Like always. Like on my wedding day. In that interview — I couldn't do anything more than cry and mourn. “If you hadn't got there in time I… I can't even imagine.” He rose from his desk, taking firm steps towards me. Soon, his hands found their way to mine, sharing the same warmth that saved me not too long ago. When he said those words. Mine. “But, I got the

  • The Love I Couldn't See   I'm His

Bella's pov “I promised,” he said before holding my hands in his and placing a tender kiss on my bruised wrists. I might be hallucinating. It probably has something to do with the headache. Or maybe the everything-ache. But that kiss. Those words made… they made all the pain vanish away. “I promise… He will pay for what he did.” My heart started drumming wild. Heat. I felt heat taking over my face. “I… I need to…” hide somewhere. I couldn't say, as in the next second the door opened, and no one other than Sarah stormed in. That moment… that moment she hugged me — That was the true sensation of almost death. My back ached. My arms… I swear — I swear I heard someone crack. Somewhere in between my neck and everything else. “Humm, baby.” I said, trying to hide it, but I bet I couldn't. “You're awake. Papa said you were tired.” She said, freeing me from her death grip. I blinked in confusion. I'm what? My eyes went to Edward for answers. But turned away in the same instant. “How dar

  • The Love I Couldn't See   Six Months

Edward's pov “Th… thank you.” She said softly. The crimson colour on her cheeks deepening in each passing second. “I…” she started, “I need to…” Before she could finish the door opened, and Sarah stormed in. The moment she saw Bella awake her face lit up. She climbed on the bed and launched herself to Bella's lap, hugging her like the last time she saw her was ages back. Bella closed her eyes tightly. A slight frown appeared on her features. “Humm, baby.” She tried to disguise, but it was crystal clear she was still in pain. “You're awake. Papa said you were tired.” Sarah said, recalling my little lie. Bella blinked. Her eyes went to me but quickly turned away. “Yes, I am… I was tired…” Bad liar. “Soo…” Sarah pleaded with her eyes. “Sarah, I know that look. Let her rest.” “But, I didn't do anything, papa…” Her eyes shifted between me and Bella, and a mischievous smile crept on her lips. “Were you guys kissing?” What? I arched a brow. Where did… “No. No. No. Where did you get

  • The Love I Couldn't See   How Dare you Touch What Is Mine?

Bella's pov I jerked with all my strength to break free, but his grip only tightened, sending a sharp pain through my arm. I winced. “Obey, and it'll hurt less.” He hissed. “No, please.” I tried to slap him with my other hand, but it got caught in the air. He yanked both my hands above my head and shoved me backwards until my back slammed against the rough bark of a tree. Making a wave of pain spread through every inch of my body. Weakness — that's all I could feel. “Please…” I whispered, feeling my strength being drained from my body, giving up on gravity. “Please, don't hurt me.” It left my mouth, quieter than a whisper. My body gave up. My vision became blurry. Warm tears made their way on my cheeks. He held my hands with one hand, and the other made its way to my waist. Moving up to my breasts. I closed my eyes. “Please…” Not even I could hear. Disgust. That's all I could feel. “Bella.” My name was called. Before I could process anything, I heard a loud and sharp hush, the s
