One Mate. One Chance. No Mercy. Alpha Noah Harvey—my godfather, my protector, the man who’s loved me in every way but the one I’ve always wanted. He’s fifty. I’m turning eighteen. And I’ve been keeping a secret for years… one that ignited the moment I learned the truth: He entered the Luna Games. Not as a spectator. As the grand prize. Centuries-old and brutal, the Games are a savage tradition where unmated she-wolves fight in deadly trials for the right to claim an Alpha. I should’ve run. I should’ve looked away. Instead, I signed up the night before my birthday, without my parents’ blessing and with only one goal: Survive. Win Him. Prove I belong beside him. When our eyes locked at the ceremony, everything stilled. One whispered word cracked through the silence: “Mate.” Now I’ll have to bleed and battle my best friends to earn what fate has already declared mine. Because love isn’t a choice anymore...it's war. Read The Luna Games now if you love forbidden desire, deadly trials, and a heart-stopping age gap romance that breaks all the rules. "The Luna Games" is the sequel to "The Accused Mate" but can be read as a standalone!

I woke as soon as I felt the rays of the sun on my skin, and I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. I had a lot to be happy about. I had a loving family and friends, graduated from high school, and I was days away from my 18th birthday.
Hopefully, I'll discover who my mate is on my 18th birthday just like my mother. But not exactly like her, I wouldn't want her love story for the world. Don't get me wrong, but my father was a jerk to her at first, and I wouldn't have put up with his bullshit, but then again, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for her forgiveness.
Anyone who knew my parents would've never guessed they had a rocky relationship at one point. They were sickeningly romantic around each other all the time and rarely kept their hands to themselves. I wondered how they went almost 18 years without having another child. When I asked why they never gave me a sibling, they playfully teased that I was a handful and they didn't want to take the risk.
I wasn't that bad...
I mean, I had my mischievous moments, like when I would leave the pack land without permission with my friends, or when I stayed out way past my curfew, or the time when my mother explicitly told me I couldn't go to a party, but I snuck out anyways and she had to save me from being kidnapped and raped from a pack of wolves. I never thought I'd see the light of day as my mother dragged me back to our pack lands. If I thought my mother was pissed, she barely kept my father from skinning me alive once he found out when he returned from a business trip.
I was about to become a wolfskin rug in front of the fireplace in his office. I was grounded for three months; no TV, no friends, and worst of all... no phone.
A part of me hated being the daughter of Alpha and Luna Beaumont. There were so many expectations of me, and I always felt pressured to be perfect. It kinda reminded me of the Preacher's Kids Syndrome. The preacher's kid was always supposed to be the shining example and on their best behavior. It sucked being labeled a goody-two-shoes. As a result, the preacher's kid usually rebelled against that image.
My parents sympathized with me, but said rules were put into place to help protect me because there were wolves out there that wouldn't think twice about kidnapping me and using me as leverage, possibly starting an entire war. I didn't want that for my family or my pack and promised to do better.
I rolled out of bed with a deep stretch and a yawn, eventually trudging to my bathroom that was fitted for a princess. For the most part, the bathroom was decorated in bright white with little pops of light pink here and there, not overwhelmingly so. I had a singular sink, but there was plenty of counter space that was usually covered with makeup, hair products, and hair tools. That reminded me. I needed to clean my bathroom.
My mother restricted the maids from cleaning my bathroom and bedroom because I would leave it a "disaster zone" as she would put it, and I needed to learn some personal responsibility. Yes, we had maids, but that didn't mean we had to make their jobs more difficult. I took a few moments to put everything in its rightful place and wiped down the countertop with disinfectant.
Cleanliness hit home for my mother because she was forced to be a maid for the Black Crescent Pack before I was born.
We won't go into the nitty-gritty details on how that happened.
I started a bath in my deep soaking porcelain white clawfoot bathtub, and whistled a cheerful tune as I dumped bubble bath into the hot water before relieving myself. My feet tapped against the heated tiles while I thought about what I should wear for the day. It was training day so I wouldn't wear anything that would make me uncomfortable. I settled on a pair of workout leggings and a tank top with a built-in sports bra.
Moments later, I was sinking into my tub. I hadn't realized how much time had passed until my mother was knocking on my door.
"What?" I complained.
"Excuse me?"
"Yes, ma'am?"
"You need to get a move on. Your father and I are waiting for you to have breakfast, plus we need to talk to you."
"About what?"
"About your 18th birthday celebration, amongst other things."
"I'll be there...eventually."
"Eventually, huh? Did I tell you that your godfather is visiting today? Maybe I should tell him not to come."
I damn near drowned myself in the tub once my mother informed me that Alpha Harvey would be visiting today.
"I'll be right out!" I shouted back as I began to furiously scrub my body.
"That's what I thought," my mother triumphantly huffed as she walked away.
Seeing my godfather was a double-edged sword. At some point, right around the time I started puberty, I developed a huge crush on Alpha Harvey. I've felt this deep shame because Alpha Harvey was a father figure to me, but there was something about him that evoked different feelings from me. I knew 100% that he only viewed me as a bratty, and sometimes annoying daughter. I'd never have a chance, but a girl could dream.
This is another reason I was excited to find my mate. I'll be able to get rid of my ill-fated crush on a man that helped nurture and raise me.
I hopped out of the tub, dried, and moisturize myself. I wrapped the towel around my body and ripped off my satin hair bonnet, releasing my "lion mane" as Alpha Harvey calls it from its satin prison. I did the best I could with the time I had left to make sure I looked my best without looking like I was trying too hard. I was disgruntled as I slipped into my workout attire. I wanted to wear something cuter, but what was the point when he didn't look at me like that?
{Alexus}{One Minute Before Midnight}Alexus: I can't believe that worked.Elektra: I told you it would.Alexus: My concern is that you're too weak to shift. It would've been best to shift and then run a safe distance away to recover. I guarantee that all hell will break loose the moment the clock strikes midnight.Elektra: I can still shift; however, I won't last long in wolf form. Take a moment to inject yourself with the serum.I obeyed Elektra and discreetly stabbed myself in the thigh with the scent-masking serum, and in seconds, my scent faded away.Elektra: We will immediately shift and run as far as we can into the forest. We will have to seek shelter, preferably on high ground, like a tree, until I can recuperate.Alexus: Sounds like a plan.I tried to focus on Alpha Harvey's speech, but was distracted by the tightening in my chest. My eyes stayed on my parents' faces that held nothing but contempt and regret. It wasn't until that moment that I realized how selfish my action
{Alpha Harvey}I sat on a throne on the platform, waiting for the Luna Games opening ceremony to begin. I nervously drummed my fingers on the arm of the chair, keeping an eye out for Alexus, just in case she decided to be stupid. I called her several times, but she never answered. I called both Alexander and Amari, but was sent to voicemail. All I could do was pray. "It's almost time for your speech," Beta Ryan whispered in my ear."This feels like a huge mistake," I whispered to my most trusted advisor."Yeah, most likely, but it's too late to turn back now. Knock 'em dead. Wait...maybe that wasn't the best thing to say," he replied after receiving a harsh glare from me.At that moment, Alexander and Amari climbed the stage."Alex! Alex! Alex!" I whispered, trying to get his attention. He swiftly ignored me and took a stand in front of the podium."Good evening, everyone. For those who don't know me, I am Alpha Alexander Beaumont, the leader of the Artemis Pack. I wish I could say i
{Alexus}I waited a good thirty minutes before trying to slip away."Are you leaving already?" Tori asked curiously."Yeah, I think I've had one too many slices of cake," I lied. "Thank you guys so much for joining us and for the gifts," I said, standing to my feet."I will walk you to your room," Mark professed, standing from the table."Ewww, can you not?" Tara complained, shooing Mark away with her hand. "We got this covered. Plus, we need to have girl time anyway before the festivities begin tonight."I could've handled Mark on my own, but I was thankful that Tara jumped in. I wasn't in the right headspace to deal with Mark at the moment, and I probably would've said something really bitchy. Then, I would've had to apologize in front of everyone."Alexus, may I speak to you for a moment?" Alpha Harvey asked, making his way towards us."Sorry, but I'm not feeling well. Good luck tonight, Alpha Harvey.""Alexus!" he shouted."Alpha Harvey, your presence is being summoned. We have to
{Alpha Harvey}"You're being pretty quiet. Are you nervous about the games?" Amari asked me at dinner."Very," I replied curtly. I wasn't nervous about the games until Alexus's little confession in the garden. I've been a nervous wreck ever since she announced her intention to enter the games. She wouldn't enter it, would she?I thought about telling Alexander and Amari several times throughout the day, but every time I came close to opening my mouth, I clamped it shut, worried they'd get the wrong impression. I didn't want them to become suspicious of me and believe my relationship with Alexus was anything but pure. I would hate for them to think I led her on or encouraged her to join in any way. They already hate me enough for activating the Luna Games this year, and if something happened to Alexus, then it would be all my fault. We would lose Alexus, and I would lose the pseudo-family I built with the Beaumonts. I concluded that Alexus was a bright girl, speaking out of anger. No w
{Alexus}"Hey, what happened in the garden? What did Alpha Harvey do to you?""He didn't do anything to me. Will you please just drop it!" I yelled, wanting to be anywhere but near him.Elektra: You need to calm down. Let's run."If he did something to you, then you need to tell the Alpha and Luna.""Thank you for your concern, Mark. I have to go," I said, entering my bedroom. I closed the door and locked it, effectively cutting off Mark's rambling. He was the worst person to find us in the garden because I knew he wouldn't let it go. I wouldn't put it past Mark to confront Alpha Harvey. Mark was bold like that, and I couldn't understand where he got his confidence. I assumed it had to be because he was a Pack Warrior in Training. From what I heard, he was the best prospect the pack has had in several years. I prayed he didn't confront Alpha Harvey. Mark might be younger and more fit, but Alpha Harvey had years of experience on him. I began stripping off my clothing and shifted into
{Alexus}{The Eve of Alexus's Birthday}"Oh, my God. It's packed!" I exclaimed, carefully driving through the crowd, trying to avoid hitting someone. "Thank God you have your own parking spot, or we would have to walk." I honked the horn at two slowpokes who were taking their precious time walking across the street. My eyes widened when the bitch dared to flip me off."Alexus, don't get out of the car," my mother demanded when I threw the SUV in park and yanked my seatbelt off. "Too bad. I don't know who she thinks she is, but she will not get away with disrespecting me like that!""Maybe you shouldn't have honked at her.""I barely even honked. It was more like a toot-toot. Stay in the car, Mom," I ordered before slamming the door shut. "Excuse me, but do we have a problem?" I asked as I slowly approached the fierce-looking woman with fiery red hair."If you take another step, then we will have a problem," she challenged."Maddie, do you know who you're speaking to?" her friend hiss
