CHAPTER 30

Layla's POV

She was sitting at the very edge of my bathtub still dressed up in the same milky white dress with her hair literally floating all around her head. She was the woman from the stream.

For some reason I wasn't scared when I saw her. For some reason, I was calm, almost as if she was an old friend I was expecting to drop in anytime soon. Maybe I was getting used to the abnormalities of my life.

“You…” I whispered. “You're… you're real?”

“Depends on how you define 'real'” she smiled.

“What are you?” I asked.

I could tell that she wasn't human. Her whole body exuded an aura never known to humans.

“Isn't it very obvious, Layla Moonshiner?” She asked.

“Don't.” I shook my head at her words. “Don't call me that name!”

“Really?” She smiled brightly. “And who exactly do you think you are?”

“I'm Layla….”

I trailed off uncertainly. To be honest I really didn't know who I really was. Until the test results came in, I knew it'd be unwise to consider myself a Bloodwood. I was j

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 53

CHAPTER 53Layla's POVEmma's eyes widened in shock. For a moment, we all froze in our surprise. I was surprised too, perhaps more than they, if I'm being honest.Emma reacted quickly. She got over her shock and aimed a blow at my heart with the knife she was still clutching, but that was a big mistake. My other hand immediately seized hers, just Moments before the blade could plunge into my chest.“That's a bad idea, Princess..” I laughed, only I didn't do that either!I felt my hand begin to squeeze and twist Emma's hand until she screamed in pain and dropped the knife. It was at that moment that even the guard behind her snapped out of their daze. The guards immediately rushed forward, drawing their weapons in the defense of their princess, and I reacted with speed I had never once used before.I shoved Emma at them, and while they were distracted, trying to prevent her from falling heavily, I was already upon all of them!My hands flashed out and dealt blows left and right too fas

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 52

CHAPTER 52Layla's POV“Help! Somebody! Help the Prince!”I was already at Derek's side, where he had crumpled to the floor and was screaming at the top of my lungs. Two guards immediately rushed in, bearing down on me with angry faces.“Get away from the Prince!” One of them bellowed, and I'm afraid he would have hacked me to pieces too if I disobeyed.I quickly shuffled away from Derek, but I guess that was not enough. One of the guards roughly pinned me to the floor while the other one stopped to check on Derek.“He's... he's breathing.” The guard who checked on Derek announced and then turned to me with only hatred written all over his face. “What did you do to him?!” He asked.“Nothing,” I replied. “I did nothing! He just.. he just fell.”I was being honest, but who exactly was I kidding? They all believed me to be a bad person around there, so…I watched as a stretcher was brought and Derek was lifted onto it and rushed out of the room. Only then did the guard who pinned me to t

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 51

CHAPTER 51Derek's POV“Get your hands off her now!” I growled with my claws extracting. The dumb old fool didn't comply. Instead, he turned to look at my stepmother, to seek approval from her. That was his mistake. Before he could return his gaze in my direction, I was beside him. Before he could tell what was happening, my fist connected with his jaw.Mord flew clean off his feet and landed on the floor, where he remained unconscious. He was going to wake with a broken jaw, but otherwise he would be fine.My eyes swept over the bodies of the dead innocent guards, my stepmother had ploughed through to get to Layla, and my anger levels rose higher. With my extracted claws, I aimed a blow at Mord's throat when she quickly grabbed my hand.. My stepmother.“No you wouldn't!” She hissed.I turned towards her, and my rage didn't subside. She had protection when father was still alive, but with father gone, she really had no power over me! She was just a stranger living in my father's hous

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 50

CHAPTER 50Layla's POVNormally, I knew I would have been able to withstand the brutal hit of the door, but with the suppression cuff on my wrist, I really had nothing left in me to withstand such an impact. Why? Why would she do it? I really couldn't understand why she'd done it, but I had seen it clearly through the cracks. The Luna Queen had ordered his special bodyguard to kill the guards who were stationed in front of my door to guard me, and then she had blasted the door off.I struggled there on the floor, still in a daze and struggling to collect my thoughts, when I felt strong and rough hands roughly pin me to the ground with both hands behind my back. Then I was roughly shoved to the wall with my back against it.“It's all over for you now.” That wicked voice spoke, and my eyes immediately focused on the Luna Queen standing before me, coldly, with her hands interlocked in front of her.She wore a long black gown that hid even her shoes, and I noticed even her lipstick and e

CHAPTER 49Derek's POV“Your father might be dying.” A voice whispered so close to my ear, almost as if it had its mouth to my ear. “..but the Alpha King remains.”I quickly turned around, but there was no one in sight. I was there alone, at least so it seemed.“Where are you?” I called loudly. “Show yourself!”“What do you want from me, Prince Derek?” I followed the voice the a small rock just a few feet away from me, where a woman at calmly regarding me. The same woman I had seen the last time I came up here, except…She didn't look so good herself. She appeared pale, and her hair, which moved around her head in a flowy state, was not cascading down her shoulders, and what's more, her radiance had diminished too.“You see what I've become.” She spoke softly. “You see what I have given away just to keep the darkness from totally consuming us?”“What darkness? What do you mean?” I asked skeptically.“Oh, I believe you know exactly what I mean.” She replied with her eyes unblinkingly

  • The Luna Queen's Blood Oath   Chapter 48

CHAPTER 48Derek's POVIt was as if I weren't in control of myself. Almost as if my body had a mind of its own, but the moment I heard the maid's words, I was off that spot. I pushed through the door of my father's room as if I would bring the door down, and was soon in the room.He lay there in his bed, coughing hysterically when I entered. He lay on his side with his face towards the other side, and there were maids and servants around the bed, all of them there to ensure that he was well taken care of.“Your son, My King.” One of the servants whispered.I saw my father struggling to turn towards me, as weak and frail as he was. A man once vibrant and powerful, now reduced to nothing by who and for what reason?!My initial surprise was overridden by anger, anger towards whoever had done this! “Derek…” Father called weakly.I was at his side immediately.“Father..” I whispered. “I'm here now.”“Leave us,” Father spoke the the servants and the maids. They all filed out of the room i
