_Leah's POV_

Susan’s sudden embrace startled me as I stood beside Tariq. My mind was still buzzing with the weight of everything happening around me. The familiar warmth of my friend, however, eased some of my tension. Susan held me tightly, her voice trembling with relief.

“I’m so happy you are safe, Leah,” she said, pulling back just enough to look me in the eyes. “I was so worried about you.”

I forced a smile. “Thanks, Susan. I… I am okay.”

Susan frowned slightly, her eyes scanning my face a

_Leah's POV_Seven years had passed since the day I stood in the Emerald pack hall and claimed my name.Seven years since two packs chose to stand together instead of apart. And that day, the courtyard was filled with laughter instead of whispers. It was Reagan’s fifth birthday.Green and silver banners hung proudly around the courtyard, moving gently in the breeze. Flowers were woven along the railings and wrapped around the wooden posts. Long tables were set with food and the scent of roasted meat and fresh bread filled the air. Children ran between the trees, laughing loudly as their voices carried through the open space.I stood near the center of it all and watched.I still did that sometimes.I watched and made sure everyone felt safe.“You are scanning the area again,” Athena said softly inside my mind.“I am not,” I replied.“You are,” she insisted. “But this time, you are not looking for danger. You are looking at what you built.”That made my chest warm.“Mommy!”Reagan’s vo

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 108

_Leah's POV_A few days after Kayden proposed, we stood in front of the Emerald Pack gates. My heart would not stay still. The gates were tall and made of dark wood and iron. The symbol of the Emerald Pack was carved into them; a wolf surrounded by vines and leaves. I had seen this symbol in dreams before I even knew what it meant. Now it stood in front of me.“This is it,” Kayden said quietly.I swallowed.“What if they don’t believe me?” I asked. “What if they think I’m lying?”Athena stirred inside me. They will feel it. Blood calls to blood.“I’m not sure that will be enough,” I whispered in my mind.Kayden turned to me. His eyes were calm but serious.“Leah,” he said softly, “if they try to send us away, you only need to show them your power.”I looked down at my hands.“Maybe they won’t accept me,” I said. “Maybe they won’t want the daughter of someone who disappeared.”Kayden stepped closer. He cupped my face gently.“I am with you,” he said. “No matter what happens, I am with

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 107

_Leah's POV_Kayden kept his promise.A few days passed after everything that happened in the temple. After the blood. After the dark magic. After the end of Tariq. The pack slowly returned to its normal rhythm. The air no longer felt heavy with fear. The nights were quieter. The shadows did not feel like they were hiding monsters anymore. And for the first time in a long while, I could breathe without feeling hunted. But tonight, none of that mattered.Tonight, it was just us.Kayden took my hand after dinner. His fingers wrapped around mine. They were warm and steady.“Come with me,” he said.“Where?” I asked. He only gave me a small crooked smile. “You’ll see.”Athena stirred inside me. His voice is full of excitement. This is dangerous.“Dangerous how?” I asked her.Dangerous for your heart, she said.I tried not to blush.Kayden led me outside. The night was clear. The moon hung high and bright. It was like a soft white coin in the sky. The air was cool and smelled like pine and

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 106

_Leah’s POV_At first there was only the dark.It felt heavy and soft at the same time. Like I was at the bottom of a deep lake. Then I felt something warm. It brushed against my cheek. It moved through my hair. Then I heard a low voice. “Leah… please… open your eyes. Please.”It was Kayden. My heart stirred.Athena’s voice came from very far away. Follow him. He is your way back.I tried. I pushed toward the warmth...toward the voice. And then the dark cracked.Light slipped in through the cracks. My chest hurt. My head throbbed. My fingers tingled.I dragged in a sharp breath. Air rushed into my lungs. I coughed hard.Familiar arms tightened around me at once. “Leah!” Kayden’s voice broke on my name. “Leah, look at me. Come on. Come back to me.”My eyelids felt heavy but I forced them open. The world swam into focus. The first thing I saw was his face.He was leaning over me. His eyes were wild and red-rimmed, his jaw was tight. There was dirt on his cheek and blood on his neck.

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 105

_Leah’s POV_As they argued, the temple began to shake. Shouts echoed from outside. I could hear the sound of running feet, clashing metal and a wolf’s roar tearing through the night.Hope flared in my chest.“Kayden,” I breathed.Athena’s voice was fierce. Yes, your Alpha is here.A group of wolves and men crashed into the temple. Some were half-shifted. Their claws and teeth were out. There were warriors from my pack and maybe others. Fred was among them. His eyes were wild with battle.Behind them came the seer. Her gaze locked onto the altar at once. And then I saw him.Kayden.He burst through the doorway with Leo close to the surface. His eyes glowed with Alpha power. His chest was heaving. His clothes were torn from the fight outside. There was blood on his arm but it was not slowing him down. When he saw my body alive and off the altar, his entire face changed.“Leah!” he shouted. He ran straight toward her.Toward Sarah wearing my skin.Sarah turned toward him. For a second,

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 104

_Leah’s POV_For a moment, the forest felt too big.Sarah and I floated above the trees like pale ghosts. The world below us looked strange and far away. The branches were dark lines. The paths were thin scars in the ground. The wind moved through us without warmth.I should have felt free.Instead, I felt a pull.It started as a small tug in my chest. Then it grew stronger. It was not the mate bond this time. It was something else...something colder.Athena went tense inside me. Do you feel that?“Yes,” I whispered. “I feel it.”Sarah turned her head toward me. Her eyes were wide. “What is it?” she asked. “Why are you looking down like that?”I stared at one patch of the woods. The trees there felt wrong. The shadows felt deeper. The air above that place shook very faintly....like heat over fire.“I don’t know,” I said. “But something is calling me from there. I feel… pulled.”Sarah shivered. “Is it Kayden?” she asked. “The mate bond?”I shook my head. “No,” I said softly. “This is d
