_Leah’s POV_

I sat in silence as the car moved through the dark forest. My hands were still tied and my feet still bound. My heart was beating so loudly in my chest that I thought Kayden could probably hear it. I kept my face turned to the window, trying to control my breaths, but my hands wouldn’t stop trembling.

Athena stirred inside me. “Stay alert,” she whispered. “He might mean what he says, but we must be careful.”

I nodded to myself, my gaze fixed outside. Trees passed like ghostly shapes, and my thoughts tangled themselves up like thorned vines. I kept seeing Tariq in my mind. He would be looking for me already. How would I hide? Going back to Blood Moon Pack was the last thing he would ever expect me to do. Maybe that was my only advantage.

My heart gave a strange ache. Going back to this place that had caused me so much pain felt like stepping into my own nightmare.

When the car finally pulled up at the gates of Blood Moon Pack, I felt my hands tighten into fists. Memories r

_Leah’s POV_The door wouldn’t budge. I pulled, pushed, slammed my shoulder against it, but it stayed locked. My breath came in short gasps and frustration boiled inside me.“Kayden!” I shouted again while pounding my fists against the wood. “Open this door! You can’t keep me in here!”There was no answer. Only silence and the faint echo of fighting from outside. My heart pounded so loud that it drowned everything else. I could still hear the clashing of metal, the roars of wolves and the cries of pain. The scent of blood drifted faintly through the air. It was sharp and heavy. I pressed my hands against the door and rested my forehead against it.He locked you in to keep you safe, Athena said softly in my mind.Safe? I thought bitterly. While he fights alone? While our pack bleeds? He is your mate. He fears losing you.“And what about me losing him?” I whispered aloud. My voice broke. “I can’t just sit here, Athena. I can’t.”Silence filled my head for a moment, then Athena said gent

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 75

_Leah’s POV_That evening, the room felt quiet....too quiet. The candles flickered gently, throwing soft shadows on the walls. Kayden and I sat across from each other at the small table near the window. Dinner was served but I could barely taste anything. My stomach was tight. Every time I lifted my eyes, his gaze met mine, and my heart would skip.I tried to focus on my food. I pushed the peas around the plate, pretending to eat. My hands were trembling slightly, so I kept them in my lap when I could.Kayden was watching me. “You haven’t eaten much,” he said quietly.“I’m not that hungry,” I murmured while keeping my eyes on my plate. He smiled faintly. “You’re thinking too much again.”I frowned. “I’m not.”“Yes, you are,” he said and leaned forward slightly. “Your thoughts are loud. You’re worried about me reading them, aren’t you?”I froze. My cheeks heated instantly. “I’m trying not to think at all, actually,” I said quickly. He chuckled softly. “That’s impossible, Leah. You can’

_Leah's POV_The air in the room grew still after I said it.“Yes.”The word left my lips in a whisper but it echoed through my chest like thunder. My pulse quickened. My palms felt cold. Kayden froze. His eyes were searching mine for any hint of doubt.“Are you sure?” he asked, his voice low.I nodded, even though part of me wanted to run. “Yes,” I said again. “Do it before I change my mind.”Kayden took a slow breath and came closer. His movements were gentle, almost careful, like he was afraid I might shatter. His hand lifted, brushing a loose strand of hair from my face. I could feel the warmth of his fingers trail down my skin. My heart beat faster.“Then tilt your head for me,” he said softly. “It won’t hurt long.”I obeyed, though my stomach twisted. My throat felt tight. I tilted my head to the side, exposing my bare neck to him. His fingers brushed through my hair, pushing it gently to one side. The gesture was slow and tender. I shivered under his touch.“It’s all right,” he

_Leah's POV_I woke to a hand on my shoulder. “Leah,” Kayden said. “Get up. It’s nearly noon.”My eyes snapped open. Light cut through the curtains. The room smelled faintly of smoke and pine. For a second I did not know where I was. Then the memory of the night fell back on me like wet cloth. The dream. The fire. Kayden on the couch. The smoke in my mouth.I groaned and pulled the blanket over my head. “Go away,” I mumbled. “Leave me alone.”He laughed softly. It was a low sound that held no mockery. “You said that two hours ago. You said it when I brought you tea and when I put out the small embers.” He kissed the top of my head like it was a small thing and like he was afraid of hurting me. “You can’t hide forever. The pack is eating downstairs and the food will not wait.”I curled into the blankets more. My face was hot. My throat was raw. My body ached in places that had nothing to do with sleep. The dream left a pulse behind the ribs. The shame of what I had done when I had slep

  • The Luna Queen    Chapter 72

_Leah’s POV_The night was heavy. Silence wrapped around the mansion, but inside me there was no rest. My body lay on the bed but my mind was a mess. I closed my eyes, forcing myself to breathe slowly, to convince myself that I was safe. But safety was only a shadow. The Seer’s words lingered like smoke in my chest. Tariq will come. Susan is a witch. He will not stop until he has you.Athena paced restlessly in my mind. Her claws scraped the inside of my skull. You shouldn’t close your eyes, she warned. He waits for us in the dark. Don’t let him in.“I have to sleep,” I whispered to her. My voice trembled even in my own head. “I need strength.”Athena growled but she eventually got quiet. Sleep came suddenly like a rope around my neck.I opened my eyes and I was no longer in the pack house. I stood in a cold and endless hall made of stone. The air smelled of rust and roses. It was sweet and rotting. The walls bled with shadows, and at the end of the hall, a torch burned blue. And the

_Leah's POV_I swallowed and began. The words felt rusty in my mouth, but once I started, they flowed like a broken river finding a path.“I was born to a princess,” I said. “My mother was a princess, of the Emerald Pack. She left the crown and married a common man. They raised me quietly. When I was small, they suddenly died. I remember nothing of them. I then remember staying at the BloodMoon pack. I don't know how I got there. Kayden and the others always treated me badly since I was an omega. When he learnt that I was his mate, he rejected me and threw me in the cellar. Tariq then came and saved me. I thought that he was kind.""He told me lies but I trusted him. I read his phone once and found messages. He had someone saved as ‘honey’ and he lied about it. I found a chest in Tariq’s place. It had his diary. In it, I read that he had planned to marry and sacrifice me to lift a curse. He even waited all these years until I got my wolf at eighteen. He had been waiting. He planned it
