Chapter Thiry - One

Wolf Talk:

Matt felt his lungs burning as he held Lilly to his chest racing to the pack house. Seeing it he felt relief. He didn't know how badly she was hurt. She was tough and she could put on a good show. She was still human, she didn't heal herself. She could break and be broken. Matt was panicking on the inside but he was like stone on the outside. Lilly shifted in his arms wincing in pain as she did. He gritted his teeth, her pain felt like his own. Worse, he couldn't fix hers. If he could he would kill Roger all over again but slower.

Jordan met him at the door shaking his head, already assessing the scene in front of him. He was angry seeing another woman attacked.

“Get her inside and to the kitchen.” Jordan said as Matt reached him.

Matt brushed past him hurrying into the kitchen. The counter top was still cleared off from a few hours ago when it was Lyla laying on the island. Matt gently set her down on it, trying to be careful so he didn't hurt her more.

“I’m not glass.”
