Chapter 6: The Bombshell News

Asher

I smiled gently as I watched her eat the meal that the maid has prepared for her. She looks happy and excited the same way.

I stared at her face for a while unable to take my gaze from her beautiful face. Her blue eyes keep making my gaze glue on her face.

She cleared her throat as she caught me staring at her. I blinked my eyes and looked away.

How could she be so beautiful and innocent at the same time? It wasn't my fault that I couldn't take my gaze away from her eyes.

"What's your name?" I asked after she drank from the wine and cleaned her lips with a napkin.

She turned to me and said. "My name is Alessia," she said, and I looked up with an arched eyebrow.

Alessia? I don't know why but that name sounds so strange and familiar like I'd heard it from somewhere but I couldn't tell where I heard it from.

I haven't seen her before. This was my first time seeing her. I hope she isn't the one that I…

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up as her soft and angelic voice rang in my head. "What's wrong?" She asked as she noticed my countenance which changes after hearing her name.

"Nothing," I said and smiled awkwardly at her. She stared at me hesitantly and nodded her head.

"And my name is Asher, the Alp…" I paused as I realized what I was about to say.

"The what?" She asked.

"The owner of this cottage," I lied, and she nodded her head even though she doesn't look convinced.

I'd to lie to her about my personality because I'm planning to surprise her in a big and grand way.

"I'll take my leave so you can have a good rest. When you need something, don't hesitate to call the maid," I said and stood up from the chair.

"Make yourself comfortable," I said and walked out of the room without waiting for her response.

I dashed out of the house and stopped in the middle of the dark forest. I shifted into my wolf form and hurled out loudly.

I climbed on the tree with my paws clawing the branches to maintain my stance.

I'm happy that I've finally seen and located my mate. I can't be happier than this.

"Thank you, moon goddess," I growled out happily as I stared at the bright moon in the sky.

I'd promised to shift to my wolf form and howled whenever the moon goddess help me find my mate because I'd believed that I'm not destined to have a mate.

I wouldn't have believed that I could get a mate after so many years of searching for her.

I won't let her go.

"Come meet me at the woods," I mind-linked to my Beta, Lucas.

"I'll be there with you soon," he said and disconnected from the link.

I sat down on the rock behind me with a smile beaming on my face. The thought of having a mate keeps

I looked up as I heard the sound of footsteps walking toward my part from behind. I turned back and my gaze landed on Lucas who walked up to me.

"Good day, Alpha," he greeted with his head bowed in respect, and I flashed a smile at him.

"Did you just smile? What's wrong, Alpha?" He seemed to have noticed my changed countenance.

I'm sure he must be surprised to see me smile after so many years of being sad and sober. I'd told him that I won't be happy until I find my mate, and I'd finally found my mate.

So why should I look sad?

"I have good news that I want you to be the first to hear," I said, and he looked up in an instant.

"What is that?" He asked eagerly as he sat down on the rock beside me.

"I have found my mate," I said, and she gasped out in shock.

"Wow! That's good. Where is she?" He asked and jerked up from the rock in an instant.

"Be patient. You can't see her now because she's in my cottage house,"

"I don't want to bring her to the pack because I want to surprise the pack members, elders same with my mate," I explained before he will bombard me with questions.

"I want you to keep it a secret for now," I said, and he nodded his head.

"I'd like to see her," he said, and I scoffed inwardly.

"You can't see her at the moment because she's sleeping, and you won't want to disturb the Alpha mate," I emphasized in my last words, and he rolled his eyes at me.

"Not even a sneak peek," he said, and I shook my head.

"No," I said dominantly, and he gave up reluctantly.

"Congrat once again," he said and pulled me into a tight hug.

I patted his shoulder and pulled away from the hug. "Thanks," I said.

I walked out of the woods and made my way toward my study room. I let out an exasperated sigh as I walked into my study room.

I sat down on the swivel chair with a cold look on my face. I reached out to the documents on the table. I cleaned the dust on the surface of the documents and read through the document.

I sighed deeply and dropped it on the table. I arched my eyebrows and darted my gaze to the floor as a small letter caught my attention.

I stood up from the chair and reached out to the small letter on the floor. I opened it and brought out a small sheet of paper from it.

I furrowed my eyebrows as I stared at the content of the letter. The message was written in a sacred and strange manner.

What is this? I asked myself with a confused look on my face.

After a few minutes, I was able to decode and understand the content of the letter. The letter says [Good day, Alpha. Find a time to come over to my place. I must see you today. From the pack witch.]

What does she want to see me for? I asked myself as I stood up from the chair.

I stood up and left without hesitation because I know she doesn't call me except what she had to say is important.

**

Getting to her house, I took a deep breath as I stood in front of her wooden house. The door pulled open with great force even before I could reach out to knock.

I walked into the room with a cold and fierce look. "Good day, Athena," I greeted as my gaze landed on the creepy-looking woman who sat on a couch.

She has long gray hair which fell behind her back. She wore a black hat over her head. She has a pointed nose and a pale face.

"You called for me," I said as I sat down on the couch.

"Before I proceed to that, I would like to congratulate you concerning your mate," she said, and I looked at her in shock.

What! How did she manage to know?

"You don't have to be surprised. I know about your new mate that is in your cottage house outside the pack presently,"

"Well, that's not the reason why I called for you," she said.

"So why am I?" I composed myself and asked.

"Well, I have a vision about something that would happen to you in the future,"

"I'm not sure about it yet but whenever that happens, you've to handle the situation with care," she said, and I looked at her.

"And what could that be?" I asked.

"I'm not allowed to tell you, Alpha. But I want you to be careful or better still hide your darkest secrets very well because you might regret it in the future," her eyes flashed white as she made the revelation.

Huh? I looked at her with a confused look.

"And does this have something to do with my mate?" I asked, and she shook her head.

"I never mentioned her name, Alpha. I expect you to be cautious of hiding your dark pasts and secrets," she said, and I nodded.

It doesn't have anything to do with my mate. But why is she making this revelation after I found my mate? I think there's more to this.

"But could that be?" I asked.

All my efforts to convince her to spill the beans were proved abortive as she refused adamantly.

"Okay. I'll keep to your word," I said and stood up from the chair.

I walked out of her house and the door slammed shut behind me.

"What is it?" I asked and glared at the guard who stood behind me.

Good day, Alpha. The elders want to see you," he said, and I stared at him with a surprised look.

They want to see me by this time of the day. I'm sure they want to see me because of the so-called ultimatum they gave to me. There's nothing to worry about because I have found my mate.

**

I walked into the conference hall with a cold look on my face.

"Good day, Alpha," they greeted with their heads bowed in respect.

Though their voices didn't sound good, I responded regardless. And their expression wasn't accommodating either.

I'm sure they seem prepared for me. They must have thought I hadn't seen my mate.

"Sit down," I said and sat down on the front chair. They bowed and sat down respectively.

"May I know the reason why you called for this impromptu and unexpected meeting?" I demanded as I turned my gaze to Elder Elliot who was ready for the meeting.

He's the first elder of the pack which makes me more respected among his peers.

"I'm sorry that we'd to call for a meeting on short notice but we have to do it for the development of the pack,"

"We called you to be here concerning our last discussion. Today is the last day of the ultimatum that was given to you," he said.

"And according to our agreement, you've to be your mate the third day or we'll have to replace you because leaders need a partner to support them," he added.

"I know," I muttered uninterested in their conversation.

"So where is your mate, Alpha?" He asked.

"Well, I have…" he interrupted me.

"And if you're yet to find your mate then you'll be left with no choice but to mark Jessica as your mate and make her the Luna of the pack," he added.

"He's right, Alpha. I agree with that," Elder Ezekiel interfered, and the other elders agreed with him.

I stared at them with an expressionless look as I stroked my chin.

"There's no need for all that because I have already found my mate,"

What!
