Chapter 7: Please Reject Me

Asher

What!

Like I'd expected, they gasped out in shock with their eyes widened in awe. Their expression was filled with shock and disappointment.

I stroked my chin and stared at them with a smirk on my lips. The first elder, Elder Elliot, cleared his throat and asked after regaining his composure. "Are you for real? Or you are just trying to buy time for yourself to look for your mate, Alpha?"

I took a sharp glance at him and scoffed. Though I feel offended by his question, I choose not to make it obvious.

"There's no need of buying more time because I have found my mate and there's nothing no one can do about it," I said.

They were shocked and taken aback by my announcement. Who could have believed I could have found my mate before the so-called ultimatum they gave to me?

"Where is she? And why haven't we heard any news of her arrival in the pack?" One of them asked, and they nodded their heads in agreement.

"She's at one of my houses outside the pack so she is safe. I haven't announced her arrival so you can't hear any news about her at the moment," I said.

"We'd like to have a piece of evidence or proof that you have found your mate. Can we have her picture?" Elder Ezekiel asked, and I scoffed inwardly.

"No, you don't need her picture because I'm going to bring her to the pack very soon. I want to take things slowly," I said.

"With this, we can't possibly believe that you have found your mate, Alpha," he said.

I raised my head and threw a cold glare at them. "Are you telling me that I'm lying, huh?" I asked in a cold and angry tone.

"As much as we don't want to doubt you, we need to be sure that you've found your mate," one of them said, and I growled deeply. I'm aware of their plan of complicating the issue.

"I don't need your confirmation. I have found my mate, and I'm going to bring her to the pack very soon,"

"I have my reason for not bringing her to the pack. I need to clear something before bringing it to the pack. I'm planning to make her the Luna of the pack immediately after I announce her arrival," I added, and they gasped out in shock.

Maybe that would be enough to clear their doubt.

"You can't possibly do that, Alpha," Elder Elliot said, and I scoffed.

"Why do you think I can't make her the Luna of the pack?" I asked with a cold tone, annoyed by their hypocritical behavior.

"You can't make her the Luna of the pack without the approval of the pack. She has to pass through some tests to show that she's up for the task," he replied, and I took a deep breath.

As much as I don't want to listen to him I know he's right. It's part of our pack tradition that the Alpha mate has to pass some test to be able to qualify.

This would be hard because my mate doesn't seem to be the hard one. She's too innocent to do the tasks required for her to become the Luna of the pack.

"She's not doing any tasks," I suddenly said.

"What! But that is the rules and traditions of the pack," he said, and I scoffed.

"Rules are meant to be broken," I said.

"You can't possibly do this, Alpha. If you do not bring your mate to the pack to complete the task then you'll have to make Jessica the Luna of the pack," Elder Ezekiel said, and I growled.

"I'll make my mate the Luna of the pack. And don't ever bring up Jessica in our conversation again," I warned.

"But…" I interested him abruptly.

I slammed my fist on the table and they flinched back in fear. "That's what I want," I said, stood up from the chair and left angrily.

I wonder why they have to frustrate me. I'm certain that they're trying every possible way to make Jessica their preferred choice the Luna of the pack, and I won't let that happen.

"I think I like this," I said as I pointed at a bright design structure on the phone screen.

"She'll like this design," I muttered as I bookmarked the design on the device.

"I'll take note of this. And what else do you want me to do?" Katherine, the female event planner, asked with a bright smile on her face.

"I don't know much about decoration so I'm relying on you to make the event decorate a perfect and memorable one,"

"And most especially, I want her to be amazed that day," I said, and she nodded her head as she wrote down the details I gave to her.

I'm planning to make a surprise and grand party to welcome my mate the Luna of the pack. I'm very sure she'll be shocked and amazed.

I want her to feel at the top of the world. I smiled gently at the thought which crossed my mind.

I looked up as the door pulled open with force and Lucas rushed in with a worried look.

"What's wrong?" I asked and took a sharp glance at the maid who understood.

She bowed her head and left my office.

He walked closer to me and whispered. "There's a problem. Jessica is heading to your private cottage house and you know what that means, right?"

What does she want? I asked myself and jerked up from the chair with a cold look.

I need to be there before it is too late. She might bring down the building if she finds Alessia in my room. She's a hot-tempered person.

"Why can't you stop her?" I asked with a cold tone as I walked hurriedly to the door.

" I didn't see her. It was a guard who relied on the message to me," he said.

I twisted the knob of the door and rushed out of the office, and headed out of the pack house.

I took a sharp glance around the environment to ensure that no one was stalking me. I dashed into the woods at my wolf speed since I didn't perceive anyone around me.

I exhaled heavily as I tried to catch up with my breath. I climbed the stairs and walked into the house ignoring my legs which wobbled in pain.

"What am I going to do?" I asked myself with a confused look on my face as I heard Jessica's loud voice from the room.

I tracked their scent and dashed into my room. I swallowed hard as I stared at Jessica attacking Alessia who fell on the floor.

I walked closer to Jessica and pulled her backward. "What the hell is wrong with you? What are you doing?" I asked with a cold and angry look on my face.

She pulled her body away from my arms and turned to me with an angry look on her face. "Who dares to ask me such a question?"

"Who is she? Why do you bring her to your house? Is she the reason you decided not to make me…" I quickly covered her mouth before she could complete her statement.

My heart skipped as I stared at Alessia who sobbed silently with tears rolling from her eyes. It hurts me to see her in this form.

"Who gave you the right to touch her, huh?" I asked with an angry look on my face.

"And why do you think you can come to my house the way you want, huh?" I asked and pushed her away.

"But I'm your…" I interrupted her abruptly.

"Keep quiet and leave if you don't want me to punish you," I warned and pointed at the door.

"You'll pay for this," she snarled and pointed her finger at Alessia.

She glared at me and stomped out of the room in anger. I breathe out in relief as the door slammed shut with a loud bang.

I took a deep breath as I walked closer to Alessia who was crying with her hair covering his face.

She shifted uncomfortably and pushed my arms away when I tried to pull her into a tight hug.

"I'm sorry for the nuisance she caused," I apologized and sat down beside her.

"Who is she?" She asked indifferently, her voice cold and hostile. This shows how angry she was.

What am I doing to do? Making my mate angry is the last thing I want at the moment.

"She's nobody…"

"You don't need to deny it. She's your girlfriend…" she replied curtly, and I gulped down into nothing.

"Yes, but she means nothing to me," I quickly said.

"It's hard for me to believe a man who's keeping a secret from his mate," she said with a cold look on her face.

"Please try to…" She didn't allow me to complete my statement.

For the first time, she raised her hand and stared into my eyes then said. "Asher, please reject me,"

I felt my heart sliced when she made the statement. It was as though a spear was thrown into my heart.

What!
