Sofia's POV
His eyes darkened and hardened; I could tell he was barely holding his anger back. I couldn't help but wonder at what point I had missed it. How come someone who was normal just a few minutes ago had become so aggressive and frustrated with me right now? Something was definitely not right.
"Is there something you can't tell me here? Do you want us to go somewhere else and talk about it?" I asked suggestively, reaching for his hand, but he snatched his hand from me and pushed me away, making me almost lose my balance.
"Stay away from me!" He barked irritatingly, as if I were some kind of disease that would infect him. My mouth fell open in dismay as I stared at him.
Meanwhile, Vivian was getting closer with a sneer on her face. Honestly, she didn't look bad; she was fresh blood, young, with a lot of passion inside of her. I think I had seen her around on a few occasions, but never had I imagined her heavily pregnant and replacing me on my own wedding day.
"I meant what I said, Sofia." Lucas' tone was stern, devoid of the playfulness it had only a while ago. "There has to be a mistake somewhere; this is a mistake." I whispered, refusing to accept what was playing out before my eyes, hoping that this was some mistake.
"You love me, Lucas. I have heard you say that a million times. In fact, you said you loved me only a few minutes ago."
"You are so dumb and naive!" He spat, his eyes digging into mine as if trying to communicate something else, something I had clearly been missing all this while.
"We have been in a contract relationship right from the beginning, for over a decade now."
No! Evelyn's words couldn't be true. This couldn't be happening because I let Lucas see me in my wedding dress.
"Wake up, Sofia!" As if to make his point, he tapped my cheeks and sighed. "I can't stay with you, especially not after I have shown you the woman I am truly in love with, the one carrying my child."
"But I can carry your child too. And how sure are you that you're truly the father of her unborn child?"
He let out a brief mocking laugh. "Don't be silly. I can't be wrong about this."
Vivian sauntered to my side, clutching my bouquet like she had all the right to be holding it. She dared to smile at me, her lips curling into such a sinister look. Still, I couldn't do a thing about it, other than stare and wish things were different.
It was either that or lunge at her, and I knew what the council would do to me. My heart broke into numerous shards, and even picking up the pieces from the floor was too tiring for me. I felt weak in every part of my bones, and the tightness in my chest was cutting off the flow of oxygen.
Seemingly oblivious to how I felt, or most likely blatantly ignoring me, Lucas' eyes found the guard standing before the playing scene. "Bring my real bride over to me," he commanded, his voice echoing through the hall.
The whispers resumed, buzzing way too fast and loud as the guards motioned forward and gently led Vivian to my spot in front of the pack, shoving me away in the process.
A sudden yelp fell from my lips, but Lucas totally ignored me, smiling at his mistress and her belly bump as they turned to face each other.
My eyes found my best friend easily, standing in the middle of the hall, with conflicted eyes. I saw the concern she felt towards me and the situation, the shock in her eyes, and the tremble in her steps.
Yet, she couldn't make one move. At that minute, every single person in the room regarded me as their enemy. I had been rejected by my own mate and the love of my life. I was going to be a castaway, and if Evelyn even reacted a little bit, she would be thrown out with me.
Evelyn made a step towards me just as Lucas yelled, "It should be noted today, in front of the whole pack and the elders of the council, that if anything happens to Vivian and my unborn child, who would one day be the Alpha of this pack, Sofia would be the one responsible."
“No!” I yelled, my knees giving way beneath me as I collapsed to the ground. Pain seared through me, but it was one that surpassed the physical.
I tried reaching for my wolf again, and Lyla’s tiny voice finally surfaced. “You can’t do anything about this, Sofia,” she whispered, stopping me from fighting Lucas’ decision so hard.
I couldn’t believe that all this time he told me he loved me, he was with another woman, long enough to get her pregnant and hand over my bouquet to her.
Evelyn rushed towards me, panic apparent in her steps. She brought her arms around me and whispered soothing words into my ears. “You can’t break down now, Sofia. This is just….”
Sobs racked through me as I let go, allowing the first tear to slide down my face. Something in Evelyn cracked as she witnessed that, and she got up at once, walking towards Vivian.
The guards were fast, but not fast enough for my best friend as she tried to grab the bouquet, wriggling it away from Vivian. “How could you do this to us all?” Evelyn yelled, her voice breaking.
“Sofia is meant to be the Luna of this pack, not you!”
“Take your hands off her this minute!” Lucas commanded, but my best friend wasn’t listening.
“You cannot steal her man, and then go ahead to steal her bouquet, don’t you think?” She was livid, and I tried to call her for her own safety, but nothing could get her to stop.
We had been friends all our lives, and Evelyn would lay down her life for me. The guards sprang into action, pulling Evelyn off Vivian and throwing her on the floor beside me.
She regarded me with so much guilt in her eyes, like she had failed in protecting me. But none of this was her fault.
“This is wrong,” Evelyn croaked out from where she let the tears flow freely on the floor. “My best friend has done nothing to deserve this, and you know it. You all know it.”
She looked at the elders of the council with an accusatory glare, but none of them were willing to go against the Alpha of the Snowflake Pack. In fact, they looked at me with the strangest expression – like they had never known me all their lives. And it scared me to my bones.
Sofia's POV"Your beauty shines like the sun in the sky," Grandma said as she entered my room without knocking. Like who does that. "You never change. You're just like your mother. But I was just too blind to see that the very first time I saw you," she added and sat on the bed with me. I was sitting on the bed with my back resting against the wall. "Grandma, at least you should have knocked," I said with a calm tone. She acted like I never said anything."Do you know when your mother gave birth to you? You were just crying when we wanted to exchange you," she said. I looked at her and felt like sending her out of my room but I held back. "Oh, really good," I smirked. "It was a very long time ago," she said and stopped for some minutes before she continued. "Your mother kept giving birth to females, and after some weeks they felt sick and died." She said. This time around I was focused because I thought I was interested in the story. "Is that the reason why you exchanged me?" I
Chapter Thirty eight. Sofia's POVI walked in like an angry wolf and slammed the door. "How could this have happened! What's wrong with all of them," I asked no one in particular. I ran to the bathroom to take a shower. Maybe my head would calm down a little bit. I came out after some minutes and changed my dress.Just then, I heard a knock on my door. I ignored it and focused on myself in the mirror. "Please open the door," the voice said from outside. "You have all the right to be angry, but you shouldn't take it to heart. It will hurt you more than you think," the same voice said from outside.I managed to open the door not because I was ready to talk to the person but because I didn't want to sleep with a lot of questions in my head. "My princess," Grandma said as she came in followed by Adam. "You look tired," he said as he sat on my bed. That's one thing I hate about him; he acts like he owns my room. "Can you please stand up from my bed?" I asked. "Little princess," he s
Chapter 37: Sofia's POV"Is not what you think," Adam said as he walked closer to me. I turned to leave, but he held me back. "Are you ready to tell the truth?" I asked as I removed his hand from mine. Just then, Grandma came out. She moved close to where we stood. "Come with me," she said. We both walked down to their history house. It was an old house with lots of memories. We walked into the place. It never changed; it looks the same as I saw it the last time I came there. The only difference is that it looks clean, but like always. I wondered who came in to clean the whole place. "Ah!" I cried out as I hit my leg on a flower on one side of the house. Grandma looked back at me. "Sorry, my princess," she said. I followed her down to a dinner table. "Sit here. I'm coming," she said. She went inside and came outside with a long pepper in her hand. She sat right next to me and opened a book.(Flashback)The king came happily in the hospital, because Luna just gave birth. King m
Sofia's POV. It was nice being back here after many days. Everything looked different, maybe because it had been a long time. I walked around, taking it all in. The smell of food wafted through the air, and I could hear laughter and chatter. "Good day, Luna," a lady greeted me. Her voice sounded familiar. I moved closer to her. She smiled as I got to her. "It's been a while, Luna," she said. Then I figured out that it was Keith, my personal maid. It had been a while because the last time I saw her, she was in a sick bed. "How is your body now?" I asked. Her smile made me believe she was fine now. "I'm good now," she said with a smile.I walked into the big hall like they were celebrating a new king. "Welcome, our Princess," they all said and bowed with respect. "Princess" they said. I thought about that for a while because I wasn't expecting it. Why didn't they call me "Luna"? I was always Luna to them. "Welcome, my beautiful princess," Grandma added. This time, I was confused.
Sofia's POV. It was early morning, and I thought I was up early. But to my surprise, the youth were already outside waiting for me. "Good morning, Luna," they greeted in unison. I smiled and replied, "Good morning."Just then, Nightshade came out and joined us. "Adam wants to see you," he whispered. "He said he has an important message for you." I was surprised. Adam had been busy lately, and I hadn't heard from him in a while."Why didn't he call me?" I asked Nightshade. "He said he did, but you didn't respond," he replied. I checked my phone and realized that I had indeed missed his calls. "I didn't know," I said.I considered going to see Adam right away, but I didn't want to leave the youth training alone with Nightshade. "I'll go tomorrow," I said. The youth looked at me with eager eyes, and I turned to them. "Are you all ready?" I asked. "Yes, Luna," they replied in unison."Today, we'll be training in a different area," I said, leading the way. The youth followed me, excited
Sofia's POV. I walked into the forest, my eyes scanning the surroundings. I was looking for the youth who were undergoing training with Nightshade. As I walked deeper into the forest, I stumbled upon a mysterious person dressed in white. I approached him cautiously, my hand on my sword."Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. But before I could react, he knocked me down. I stood up, angry and embarrassed. "Who the hell are you?" I asked, drawing my sword. The mysterious person laughed, a low sound. He walked towards me, his movements slow and deliberate. I prepared for battle, but he was too strong. We fought for what felt like hours, but I couldn't land a single blow. He pinned me to the ground, his eyes gleaming."The fight just begins," he said, before disappearing into thin air. I looked around, but he was nowhere to be found. I shouted, "Come out, if you're not scared of me!" But there was no response.I gave up and headed to where Nightshade was training the you
