LOGINMuttering incoherent words in her sleep, Hazel wiggles from one side of the bed to the other, sweat oozing out her body in streams soaking her lacy nightwear and bedcovers.
Her face pulled together in a frown, her eyes spasm frantically under her eyelids as she clutched the bed covers with both hands.
Traces of burns appeared on her right breast under her cloth, forming a rose flower-shaped design, in the middle of the rose flower another diamond-shaped design and a half moon appeared floating, they moved about and around the flower before eventually settling in its middle.
As the diamond and moon glowed red, Hazel let out a pained scream from her sleep, her toes curling, alerting both her parents who rushed in to see their daughter clutching her chest while screaming.
"What is going on?" Amanda asked as strings of curses escaped Eric's lips as he beheld the sight before him. He rushed to his daughter's side to see what was happening but quickly backed off at the heat radiating off her.
She screamed again, thrashing on the bed as her eyes glowed red, veins popping out from the sides of her head.
This time it was more of a screech than a scream, causing her parents to cover their ears in fear and horror.
"What is going on Eric, what is happening to her? Why is she like that?" Amanda asked at the brink of tears, looking from her husband to her daughter.
"Fuck I don't know!" He cursed pacing back and forth beside Hazel's bed, he tried getting close one more time but the heat increased, burning his palm.
He stopped in his tracks, before rushing to his study, remembering the instruction that was given to him years ago.
"When you notice any kind of abnormality, inject her with this she'll be fine," the person had instructed.
He rummages through his drawers and bookshelves in a hurry, looking for a certain black rectangular box with a weird crest on it.
He had hoped, for the sake of his daughter, that there would never be a day he'd have to use the unknown substance in the injection.
"Where is it? Where is it?" he asked as he threw books and vases out of the shelf in search of it. As he picked up the last book and realised it felt heavier than it looked, he opened it and saw the rectangular box lying inside the hollowed-out book.
"If this gets into the hands of the wrong people your daughter would die. There is only one of this ever made, so be careful where you place it, be careful whom you tell about it. If possible, don't ever mention it to anyone." They had warned him before handing the box over to him.
He let out a sigh of relief and ran back to Hazel's room with the injection in hand. Biting his lips, he endured the scorching heat that radiated off her and injected her with the red substance in the syringe, waiting patiently to see any differences.
"What is it made of and why should I use it on my daughter?"
"What is it made from is none of your business Halton, you would know why your daughter needs it when it is time. We shall meet again."
"Wait! Why should I trust you!"
"You shouldn't."
The screaming stopped not long after, her hands falling to her side as she passed out, the heat dissipated as the flower, diamond and moon disappeared, leaving her skin clear and without blemish.
"Eric, explain to me, what's going on? What is happening to Hazel?" Amanda asked solemnly, her voice shaking in fright.
"I don't know, Amanda. I swear I don't know, I honestly didn't know what was going on with her," he confessed truthfully, silently begging her to believe him. His hands caressed Hazel's head as it rested on his lap.
"What do you mean you don't know? Didn't you inject her with that thing? How do you know the cure if you don't know the sickness? Eric, do you think I'm a child? Do you think I can't see you've been hiding things from me since Ruby ran away? What exactly is going on? What have you gotten yourself and my kids in with your damned research!" she screamed her voice growing higher and higher as she grabbed his pants while on her knees.
She couldn't afford to lose another child, not again.
Eric remains silent, unmoved by his wife's screams and tears, as he watches his daughter's breathing return to normal.
Yeah, what have I gotten myself into?
Why didn't I stop when I still could?

"Tori and Beth, right?" Dylan called as he spotted the two walking toward the parking lot.
"Professor Dylan," they greeted. Tori, desperately trying to hide her starry eyes and bright cheeks from being too close to her newest fascination behind Beth, who rolled her eyes and stepped forward.
"Hello, ladies, I have noticed Hazel hasn't been attending classes these few days. Is there any problem? She didn't call in sick either," he explained calmly, going straight to the point.
The two shared a glance before Beth replied, "We were planning on going over to her after classes today, we haven't heard from her either and that's unusual. She doesn't go this long before giving at least one of us a call and it's been almost a week now."
"Has it?" Dylan asked. "Then please inform me when you get any news about her, there might be a test next week and I wouldn't want her to miss it," he smiled and continued walking to his car.
"Oh my gosh!" Tori squealed excitedly. "He sounds so sexy!" she gushed holding her flaming cheeks.
"Yeah! Yeah! We know, come on let's go visit Hazel, I still have to go to my part-time job later," said Beth with a bored tone, as she dragged her fangirling friend towards her car, not before giving Dylan one last meaningful look.
Amanda shrunk in on herself as she heard Gina's words. Tears streamed down her face like a broken dam, and her body trembled from fear. She felt the walls closing in on her as Gina began to pace back and forth in the small office. Every time the punk-haired woman paced back and forth, she would stop and glare at Amanda with hatred before resuming her pacing once again."What do they want with Hazel? She is not Ruby, and she doesn't know what happened back then either! If she hadn't met Alpha Leonardo when she did, she'd still be in the dark about the whole thing. They can't make her pay for a crime she didn't commit!" Amanda choked out, and Gina scowled."You think people care? They want someone to be responsible for what happened back then, and your Hazel just happened to be a convenient choice," Gina voiced out with an exasperated groan."Please, I don't want anything to happen to Hazel! She's innocent and pure; she doesn't deserve to go through all these troubles!" Amanda begged."
Gina moved back as she saw the scene before her. She looked around to see who had taken out Kaia and her subordinates without her feeling their presence or hearing any movement from them."Sorry for making you see such an unsightly scene. My name is Gaius, and I’m an Asha. We have been after this group for a while now," a man dressed in a robe said as he walked out of the shadow while holding several tiny needles. As Gina saw him, all her senses went numb, and fear gripped her soul from the powers oozing all around the man.The man smiled at her, but she quickly noticed his smile did not reach his eyes—it was full of malice, making Gina feel suspicious."Why are the Ashas after them? Aren't they council members?" Gina asked."The news should not have reached your ears since the supreme Alphas are trying not to make it public, but the royal Beta has betrayed the supreme Alphas and has sided with the enemies. We have been on the lookout for her for a while now, and once we got the tip t
As Gina walked out of the restaurant, she lit up a stick of cigarette and let out a puff of smoke."Tch, those motherfuckers only remember they have a sister when they need help! I need to exchange that for money or at least something more useful to me," she gritted out angrily as she picked up her phone to make a call. After the second ring, Dylan picked up. "It's been ages, Gina. We've missed you," Dylan greeted, and Gina rolled her eyes in annoyance."You two know where to find me if you miss me, dumbass. What's with the lady you sent my way? Who is after her, humans or our kind?" Gina asked, going straight to the point while Dylan chuckled."You are always so direct; it hurts. Anyway, King and his men are the people after her. Her daughter is our mate, and they want her," he explained, and Gina cursed at him."You already have a mate, and I'm just hearing about it? You fucktard? Put your brother on the phone; let me curse at you two!" she growled.Dylan looked at Leonardo, who had
"How is she now? Has she calmed down a bit?" Leonardo asked as Dylan walked out of Hazel's room with a crease in his brow."She's asleep; she should feel better when she wakes up," Dylan replied."I'm feeling it was not necessary that we tell her that. We probably should have kept the whole thing away from her until it is solved. Knowing she'll feel responsible for the girls, she would want to make amends," Leonardo muttered as his eyes darted worriedly toward Hazel's closed doors."She'd even be more upset if we kept it from her and she later finds out. It's done anyway. We just have to keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't do anything out of line for now." Dylan shrugged."I sent some people to search the Halton house, but I'm sure he won't be keeping anything important there, which means we have to go to his office to search. I honestly don't know what I'm hoping to see. At least for the sake of Hazel, I'm hoping he'd be innocent in all this," Dylan voiced as they walked awa
"I have thought about it, and I'm interested!" Hazel announced, and Dylan choked on the water he was drinking."Are you trying to kill me, princess?" He coughed, and she smiled apologetically."What did you think about?" Leonardo asked with an expressionless face."I thought about what we talked about last night, you know? The sex and awakening thing. I'm interested," Hazel replied with a shrug, and Leonardo dropped the papers he was holding to look into her eyes."May I ask what part of what we discussed you thought about? You are making it sound like a business transaction. I'm feeling nervous," he teased with a raised brow, and Hazel flushed in embarrassment."I thought about all of it—I mean, every tiny bit of it, including being yours forever," she whispered, the last part making her heart flutter.Leonardo's lips quivered in amusement as he noticed how embarrassed she was. He chuckled and beckoned her over. "Sit," he ordered while tapping his lap.Hazel paused and looked around
"Let me out! Why did you keep me locked up like this?" Eric demanded while banging on the door with all his strength."Do you think Hazel will still want to be with you when she finds out that you are treating her father like this?" He continued yelling, trying to get someone's attention. Seeing that he was about to go crazy from the deafening silence all around him, Eric became desperate, wanting to be let out.Soon, Dylan pushed the door open with a tray of food in hand. "I heard you've been rejecting the food brought to you, so I brought it myself. We can have breakfast together. What do you think?" He smiled as he placed the food on the floor in front of Eric while sitting directly opposite him.Eric shivered at the sinister smile on Dylan's face, and his tantrum died down. "What do you all want with me? You can't keep me locked up like this! My wife is being held hostage, and if I don't do what they asked me to, they'll kill her! Are you trying to make Hazel motherless?" He begge
