Secret Pining

Marius Peddleton's POV:

I place my phone gently on the desk. But my fingers linger on it longer than they should. The screen goes dark and the room becomes quieter than before.

But everything seems to have finally fallen into place.

I exhale deeply attempting to calm the pounding in my heart. It is still going too fast and reacting to that single sentence that Georgina sent earlier.

'I signed it.'

I lean back in my chair and look to the side where there is an expensive grey sofa by the window.

The one I accidentally tore a gaping line through when she told me. The cushions are half-split where I gripped them and the fabric is ripped at the seams. The stuffing is poking out like a battle wound.

But a quiet chuckle escapes my lips while aI run a hand through my hair.

She really signed it.

After everything... After all the waiting, the patience amd the carefully restrained feelings I've buried deeper than anyone realizes...

Georgina finally said yes.

And soon, I will have more than brief
