Chapter 17. Bella POV

I woke up in a panic, my dreams had turned from Bram deliciously kissing me on a bed, caressing my skin, slowly pushing down the straps of my top, to me suddenly dropping into a black, never ending hole. It was one of those dreams where you wake with a thud in your bed and your heart pounding. In my case, I headbutted a log as I juddered back into life.

I groaned loudly in pain and rubbed my head, trying to work out what kind of time it must be. The fire Lucien lit had almost died out, probably for the best. We don’t need it in the morning, and it would only draw attention to our camping position if I rebuilt up to a blazing cosy warmth.

Sitting up whilst the pain in my head throbbed away, I brought up my knees and hugged them close to me. I didn’t enjoy dreams involving Bram anymore, too often they turned mean. When it was my own imagination, my daydream I got to pick the memories to dwell. When asleep, my deepest memories seemed to unfold from hidden recess
