29. She's married?

Alvin Donald's POV

To say I was smitten with my mate's appearance today would be an understatement. When I had chosen this dress for her, I had merely thought she would look beautiful. I had never thought she would look this stunning and eye-catching.

For once, I wasn't ashamed of saying I was smitten by a woman. I was so amazed by her beauty that I completely forgot how she tricked me into coming here alone.

I thought my proposal of coming here together sounded interesting and appealing. Is it that the maid who came to me was lying to me deliberately? Could it be Henry's prank? Why would she change her mind at the last second?

I will have to talk to her regarding this.

Standing near the staircase with the rest of the Lycans, I looked at my mate, who was descending the few steps like a true queen, and my heart fluttered a bit.

'She is indeed our queen, and I am not hearing anything against her this time,' Kelvin said in a warning tone, and I scowled at his words.

Why is he making it look like I badmouth her all the time?

"Luna Woods is indeed looking stunning, no?"

"Honestly, I hadn't thought she would've got the guts to appear in the ball this year. After what happened with her, I thought she would be too embarrassed to show her face,"

"She is a Woods, Megan. They are famous for not bowing their heads, remember? Besides, why should she hide her face when it's not even her fault? It's just her ill-fate,"

"I know, right? She doesn't deserve all the hatred and pain she suffered,"

The Luna around me started speaking, and I squinted my brows, not understanding what they were talking about. I had gone to take a call outside, and thus, I missed her introduction too. The only thing I heard was that she is strong.

Just what kind of girl are you, Kathy? Why does everyone seem to know her already? Why are they looking at you with such different emotions? I thought as I caught her gaze getting darker with each second as she walked towards the center of the hall like a goddess.

In these three days, this was the first time I was seeing her so serious like this, and honestly, I was even intrigued by her presence today. I don't know what was her motive today, and neither do I know much about her, but I am sure everything is going to change once Jake comes in with all the information about her.

I noticed how Robin tried to approach her probably to talk, but Henry shooed him away.

Taking a deep breath, I looked at my friend Joseph, who had the same strange appealing look on his face while he was looking at my mate.

"Don't look at her like that. If she caught you, she might actually claw your eyes," I said, and he looked at me amused before nodding as he averted his gaze from her.

Walking towards my mate to accompany her to the stage, I was about to reach her when I saw a beta attacking her.

Seeing a dagger in her dress, my wolf howled with urgency as I jerked her away from her. However, realizing that she was just her friend, I heaved a sigh of relief.

"Kath! He is so hot! And he cares for you too! I totally approve of him for you," the beta said to my mate, and I couldn't help but smile inwardly when I saw her flushed cheeks as she looked at me with wide eyes.

It would be wrong to say I wasn't pleased with the statement.

Once she was done talking to her, I accompanied her to the stage and the introductions started.

Honestly, I was planning to ask her for the first dance since I never tried that at the ball, but before I could ask her anything, she was already descending the stairs and talking with some Luna along her way.

"If you keep your eyes on her like this, she would think you have fallen for her too," I heard Joseph's voice from behind me, and I sighed.

"I know she is interesting. All the lycans are talking about her," Joseph said, and I raised my brows.

"Talking about her?" I inquired.

"Yeah. The tragedy she suffered and how she is still so strong. True blood indeed," Joseph said, and I squinted my brows.

Wait. Why does it look like everyone knows about my mate apart from me?

Am I the only one in this ball that doesn't know anything about her? I thought as I looked at her talking to some alpha.

I would've gotten jealous normally, but when I saw an omega clinging to the alpha, I relaxed before turning to Joseph, whose eyes were on my mate again.

"Poor soul got betrayed so early in her life, but what can we do? I guess it's her punishment for choosing a fake," He said, and I sighed.

"Joseph, either you start telling me everything from the start or stop telling me snippets that I don't understand," I said, and Joseph was about to answer when Jake came to my side.

"I got all the information you asked for, sir," He said, and I nodded at him before motioning him towards the king's seat.

"Wait for me here. I will be back soon," I said before going to Kathy to know if her plan of kidnapping the girl was already in action or not. Honestly speaking, I wasn't exactly interested in the plan. I just wanted a topic to talk about with her.

"Kathy," I called out to her, and she looked at me with a soft smile. However, I did not miss the low snarl that the alpha released.

Does this pup really think he can stop me from talking to my mate? What a fool. Why doesn't he worry about the girl on his hand whose b*obs looks like they would fall anytime?

"I'll catch up with you soon, King Alvin. Why don't you enjoy the party till then? I have some important work to do," She said before nodding, and I nodded in understanding.

It means she has already started working on the kidnapping plan. Satisfied with the small interaction itself, I went back to the Lycans area, not at all mind that I got rejected just now.

"Okay, so tell me from the very beginning," I said as I sat on the seat, and he sighed.

"Sir, Miss Kathy's real name is Kathleen Woods. She is the daughter of the former alpha and Luna of the Callisto pack, Mark woods and Kate woods. Since she is the only daughter, it makes her the only alpha female in the world," He said, and I looked at my girl through the translucent veil.

She is an alpha? No wonder she used to give those powerful vibes all the time. And here I thought she was just a strong beta and gives me those vibes because she is my mate and someone who keeps questioning me. I thought before looking at Jake.

"Her mother died in a Lycan and rogue attack, and her father died in a rogue attack," he said, and I bit the inside of my cheeks, finally understanding her hatred towards the Lycan that she mentioned that day.

"Her schooling was done-"

"Just tell me about the main things. I don't need to know where she studied or what she ate," I said, cutting him off, and Jake nodded.

"She had a seven years long relationship with Drake Cole. They got married around two months ago-" I released a loud growl as soon as I heard those words.

She is already married? How can she get married to another male when her mate is alive? How can she betray me like this? I thought, heat rising to my head as I growled in anger and pain.

"There's more, Lycan King," Jake said. I know he had already picked on the fact that I was interested in the girl, and that's why he is probably trying to show me the good side of her, but I don't want any of that.

She betrayed our pure bond by marrying another man. How can she decide both of our fates without even meeting me? It would've been okay if either she or I had rejected each other but like this?

"Aiden, Jacob, Sean, hold him, or he'll cause a blood bath," I heard Joseph's voice from around me, and it wasn't long before a few lycans held my hands to calm me down.

"You need to calm down, Alvin. This isn't a place to get angry. All the werewolf alphas are here. You need to think rationally," Joseph said.

"-but because they weren't fated mates, they signed a contract to stay loyal to each other. However, on the day of their wedding night, Drake Cole brought his destined mate into the picture, betraying her trust and contract," Jake said in a single breath, and I growled again, not knowing why I was feeling even angrier than before.

Is it because a guy hurt my mate? Or is it because my mate has hurt me without even knowing it?

Is this marriage why she can't recognize the bond between us? Is it because she is already committed to someone else? And if that's the case, does that mean I have already lost the chance to know more about her and everything I did till now was futile? I thought before shaking the people around me.

"Let me go! I need some space," I said before walking away from the area to the eastern halls.

Walking back to my room, I growled as I threw the chair across the room.

How can she do this to me? Why did she do this? Why didn't she wait?

"And what if she would've waited, Alvin? Why are you acting like the world has been snatched from your hand? You were going to reject her anyways, no? It's good you won't have to go through the troubles now, right? You had cursed this bond from the beginning," Kelvin growled at me, and I roared back at him.

"After everything she did, you are still blaming me? Am I at fault? I am not the one who got married to some other female to start a new life. Yes, I was going to reject her, but at least I would’ve stayed true to her. What about her? She decided our fate without meeting us, and you still side with her?" I asked angrily.

"You just heard what Jake told you. He just gave you the piece of information that you demanded of him. Do you know what she would've felt or she feels?

He told you the facts, but only she can give you the true picture of what had happened and why the hell did she do that. At least give her a chance to explain things. She needs us, Alvin. Just like you, she got hurt too," Kelvin said, and I scoffed.

"I can't decipher why you are not getting angry. Aren't you supposed to be more hurt than me? Or is this mate thing a facade, and she is no one to us, and you are just attracted to her because she is an alpha," I said, and he growled at me in a warning.

"Don't test my patience, Alvin. I am not a fool like you. Just go to her. I have a feeling that she is hurt. Stop acting like a coward and man up. Face the situation rather than running like a coward," Kelvin said, and I sighed before drinking some water.

Was he right? Should I go to her right now? But what if I end up hurting her? The only thing I want to do right now is grip her neck and shake the hell out of her to ask her why she did all of that.

What if I end up hurting her and killing her? I thought.

"Do you think I will let you hurt my mate like this? The moment you hurt her will be the last day you'll see me," Kelvin warned me, and I growled helplessly.

Looking at the time, I gritted my teeth. The ball must be already over.

Walking towards the hall again, I found her sitting in the food corner with Harry. Judging from the smell of blood mixed with her scent, I was sure something was wrong with her.

Seeing her hands covered in blood with more than half of her left shoulder drenched in blood, I sighed before siding with Harry and throwing her on my shoulders.

Jumping out of the balcony as I needed complete privacy with her at the moment, I growled when the smell of her blood wafted into my nostrils, making me want to bite into her flesh and mark her right there and then.
