Violetta's POV

I closed my eyes, trying to push my tears back. That wasn't enough.

“What about the others? What about other people who may try to hurt me? I'm useless at protecting myself. Caleb was right. Caleb is right. I attract doom everywhere I go.”

The tears came down my cheek. “Hey.”

His hands moved my head slowly so I faced his direction. He came closer, caressing my right cheek with his thumb. My heart started racing again, and I felt hot from his touch immediately. I could hear my wolf purring, savoring the ethereal moment between us.

“Listen.”

His voice was deep but light, and I stared as intently as he stared back.

“Caleb is wrong. You’re special. You just need time to harness your abilities.”

“I don't even have a wolf.”

“Shh,” he said, placing his middle finger on my lips. I melted inside.

“Everyone has a wolf. It will come around someday. I know it will.”

I shook my head, taking his hand off me. “No, I don't want to someday. I want it now, and I need you to help me.”

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 160

Violetta’s POVStill in my form, I stood outside the building that Mother Luna had entrusted to me before going inside. I felt an urge to walk away and leave the premises, but something else seemed to hold me back.An unexplainable resistance. It was as if I couldn’t muster up any proper thoughts by myself, so I decided to stop trying. As darkness settled, I began to hear little sounds around us, but I didn’t think much of it at first. Unfortunately, by the time I realized that they were something serious, it was too late.A group of masked men came out from the shadows, and in sharp, swift moves, they took Luna Theresa’s guards one by one.I wanted to fight, but something kept holding me back as if I needed permission from someone to do what was necessary. So I just stood there, watching as the guards dropped to their deaths. When the masked men were done, they began aiming for me, but I just stood. Unmoving. No matter how hard I wanted to. I couldn’t. A moment later, they grabbed

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 159

Luna Theresa’s POVBy the time the carriage came to a final stop in front of the address sent by the bastard that dared to thwart my plans, the day had begun to fade into late evening.I stepped out gently, looking around to see if anyone was outside before heading into the bunker.I decided to go in first without Violetta so I wouldn’t raise an alarm the moment they saw me. The plan was to scout the area and see how prepared they were, and when I was certain I could execute my plan, I would use my enchantments to call on the beast I had with me.A few moments later, I was inside the bunker, looking around to catch any faces, but I didn’t find anyone.I called out names, made significant sounds to draw attention, and even let out a few curses, but all that came back was silence. There was no one in the bunker. This frustrated me immensely as I wondered how he could tell me to come here only to be absent.I was so angry that I wanted to storm out immediately, but I decided against it.

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 158

Carissa’s POVI took my mother’s advice, wore a nice dress, and went to Theodore. The layers of perfume swept through the hall I took.I knew it would take a while before Luna Theresa got there, and in the meantime, I wanted to solidify my stance with Theodore so that even after Violetta comes, she would have no place in his heart anymore. The thought of her having such a man who seemed to want to move the world for her without asking anything in return didn’t sit well with me. I had to make her lose that because she wasn’t deserving of it. Why let her have it when I could keep it for myself?Like my mother said, Theodore was just a man and couldn’t be exempt from falling for my seduction. I pushed his door in, striding in slowly. But when I got in, he was nowhere to be found. I looked around the room, even searching the balcony, but still couldn’t find him.I sighed grumpily. “Where the hell could the bastard have gone to?”Just as I was about to pull the door to leave, it pushed o

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 157

Carissa’s POV“How did it go?” I rushed the question to my father the moment he walked in.He ran his eyes down my being in visible anger before letting out a sigh. “What is it, father? Why do you stare at me like that?”“Because you almost destroyed everything by making me take such a matter to Theodore.”“What do you mean? What happened?” I asked urgently.“What I mean is you should’ve believed me when I said Theodore isn’t interested in the throne. I mean, I saw him. I saw his eyes the day he confessed this to me. He just wants to get Violetta and be out of this place.”I squinted my brows in confusion because it just didn’t sit well with me that Theodore, the rightful heir to the throne would be willing to give it up just like that.Just because of Violetta.I wanted to tell my father about the silver necklace that had Theodore’s name on it, but at that point, it didn’t seem to matter anymore. He was already convinced that Theodore would leave the throne to him, and although I wa

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 156

Theodore’s POVSeveral thoughts swirled through my mind as I wondered what in the hell he could have wanted to discuss with me. Especially since he mentioned the throne.I stared at the door, pissed that the more important thing I should be focusing my attention on had drifted away, and this silly excuse of a Beta was the reason for that. However, I definitely couldn’t reject his request. It was still important for me to keep up with appearances so he wouldn’t suspect a thing.“Uhhh sure, what is it you want to talk about?”He took a deep breath and walked closer to me.“Please sit.” He said, pointing to the couch as he lowered himself on the one opposite it. I sighed. Where the hell is this going, Beta John?I thought to myself.“Well, it’s nothing much. It’s just something that I think is paramount we discuss.”“Okay. I’m all ears; go ahead.”“I know you said that you aren’t interested in the throne and just wanted to take Violetta and go far away from here.”I squinted my brows in

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 155

Theodore’s POV“We all know our parts in this, right?”I asked the pairs of eyes staring at me, and they all nodded. Our plan was simple. We had to inject an antidote into Luna Theresa when we saw her. An antidote that would diminish the strength of her charms.“But are we certain that she’s going to fall for this trap? I mean, it’s the mother, Luna. She’s known to be pretty smart.” Caleb asked.I sighed. “Well, smart people tend to get ahead of themselves and get cocky. I believe even Luna Theresa is no exception. And hopefully she makes the mistake because that is exactly what we need.”“If. But what if she doesn’t?”“She will. For her plans of an heir, she needs both Nolan and Violetta, so I know she’ll definitely make the mistake and come here.” "Beta John," replied. My fists tightened in my pockets as I stared at him. Here he was, acting all perfect and saintly as if Luna Theresa was the only evil among us.There was no point in getting angry, as everything was about to come to
