Nolan POV
Right after Violetta was taken away from the hall, I walked out and headed straight to my office. I vented my anger on my desk, completely shattering everything while sending them flying to several corners of the room.
"That bitch is unbelievable," Mother scoffed as she walked in with Carissa.
"This is what she always does, mother. She pretends to be the innocent of all when, truly, she's a venom. I couldn't speak ill of her because she's still my friend, and you might wonder what kind of friend speaks such evil things about her friend," Carissa said, a sad look plastered on her face.
"I knew there was nothing good about her to begin with. She's just a useless liability. She doesn't even have a wolf; how dare she pretend to be above the world?" Luna Theresa muttered furiously as she took a seat across my desk.
I could feel two pairs of eyes boring into my skin, but I didn't spare them a glance. "Aren't you supposed to be teaching her some manners right now? Are you going to sit here and kill time?" She pointed at me, but I still didn't speak. I'm sure something was wrong with Violetta. She doesn't think before; she behaves most times, but this time she's gone too far, and I'll punish her in my way. Make her remember who she belonged to and the fact that she had nowhere to turn if she proved stubborn.
"That girl won't go scot-free from my clutches. She dares betray my son and cause him pain. I'll teach her lessons; she'll tell her grandchildren if she lives to see that day."
"Enough!!" I yelled, banging on my desk in frustration and anger. I was just trying to think of what could have gone wrong with Violetta. Their whining only added to my frustration and anger.
I walked out of the office and slammed the door behind me. My fury couldn't be tamed right now. I just have to make sure this was the last time Violetta did something so stupid.
I flung her door open, and I scanned the room until my gaze landed on her alarmed face, which looked too innocent to be true. She looked frail in her relaxed state, which increased my urge to claim her as mine. To bring her back to where she belonged. With me.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, wide-eyed and restless, the moment I walked in, and I scoffed inwardly.
It felt somewhat nice to see her restless just because I walked into her room. She must have expected her punishment to make her look this scared.
"Nothing out of the ordinary, Violetta. You'll find out soon enough," I responded as I approached her bed.
I was just two steps away when she jumped out of bed immediately, her fingers raking into her hair smoothly when I refused to listen to her.
"Wait. Don't come near me, Nolan," she yelled, and I scoffed.
"How dare you, Violetta?" I growled as I kept strolling towards her. "You, a common omega and the outcast of the pack, dared to reject me and humiliate me without a second thought?" I continued as I took steady steps closer to her retreating figure; by now, my last straw of patience was drawn, and my anger was nowhere near appeased. I was still livid.
She maintained a bright distance as I continued stepping in on her. She clumsily dropped the empty cup that was on her desk, and it shattered between us with a loud thud.
I saw her bend to pick up a piece, and then she raised it to me. "Don't come any closer, or I'll hurt you!" She said it breathlessly as she stepped farther away.
I laughed, a little too hysterically. "You can't, Violetta. You don't have the balls to do that," I recalled, and I saw her look down at her shaky hands.
"Why did you do it? Why did you choose to do that to me? Why the hell did you reject me?" I asked in a yell, studying her face for an answer, perhaps a look of remorse. But I couldn't find any. If there was any expression on this pretty little face of hers, it was fright. Fear of what I might do to her. It got me more enraged and furious.
I needed to make her understand that everything was wrong with what she did back in that hall. She needs to realize that!
"We're not married, Nolan. I won't let you take advantage of me!" She yelled, but I'd be damned if I cared. I took off my shirt swiftly and started to lose my belt. It was only two steps from getting to her when she raised the glass and tried to attack me, but I slapped it off her hand.
Without realizing that another piece was in her other hand, I stepped in closer and was about to grab her when she suddenly threatened to kill herself.
"Don't be near me, Nolan or your sacrificial lamb will be gone forever." This was just one of her countless tricks; she could do nothing besides blabbering. I tried convincing myself until I caught sight of the piece of weapon in her hand.
"Gone? What do you mean?" I asked innocently, and she bit her lips hard.
"I'm going to kill myself if you as much as take one more step closer," she confirmed in a breathy voice, and I couldn't restrain the laugh that broke out of my lips.
"These little empty threats of yours are already as boring as they are. But it makes you look kind of cute," I said between the laughter that caught in my lungs at the sight of her blood dripping slowly onto the ground.
Then I realized how hard she was gripping the broken piece in her palms. "I don't heal, remember? You can just watch me bleed out and die, then," she muttered sternly as she tightened her fingers around the broken piece.
"What the fuck, Violetta?" I yelled and made to move closer, this time with a normal intention, but she flinched.
"Just leave me alone, Nolan. You can't touch me, even if I'm dying right now, because it's your choice. You're choosing to watch me die," she said between labored breaths as tears stained her eyes, and I was left with no choice but to leave her be.
Angrily, I walked out of her room, filled with confusion, and I walked straight into my study without even shutting the door to her room.
Violetta's POV
About this time three years ago, he had barged into my room the same way and had stolen my innocence in the most brutal way I could ever imagine. My first sex back then wasn't the sweet and romantic one I've always planned for myself. It was absolutely brutal and painful. I couldn't let any more of that happen to me.
I slumped into the ground, pain, and relief shooting through my veins as I watched Nolan walk out of my room after causing that.
I knew I couldn't die from just grabbing some broken glass, so I just had to risk facing the severe pain from the cut alone, and I did it gladly as long as it would get Nolan out of my room without touching even a single hair on my head.
I buried my head in my lap as I let out the tears that had threatened to fall when I had no idea what to do with Nolan's stubbornness a few moments ago. I was still shedding tears when I felt a presence in my room again.
Thinking it was Nolan, I yelled without looking up, telling him to go away. I felt him grab my injured hand, and I glanced up, livid with anger, only to see the guy who had stopped Nolan from slapping me in front of everyone in that hall.
"Mind if I help?" He spoke, his voice holding power, strength, and playfulness all in one span.
Carissa's POV I didn't like the chill that came with her voice.“What are they?” I asked in response. “Mysteries are unexplainable occurrences experienced by our ancestors. One of them is called Carvo Aqueto.”“What's that?”I was getting a very unsettling and eerie feeling from the way she spoke, but I didn't dare question her behavior or why her voice was unusually calm.“The mystery says that a wolf could harness so much power it could trap its human form for life.”I shook my head, not wanting to believe my ears.“That's impossible.”“Oh, it is very possible,” she said, her eyes wider than an owl’s. Like they were about to pop out of her eye sockets.“Especially with our good friend Violetta. That's why I need you to be on watch. You will monitor her every move. Any sign of her getting stronger, you report to me. Then at the right time, we feed her.”Her evil grin unnerved me, and immediately she took her eyes off the bottle; it was like she was a totally different person.“That
Violetta's POV By noon, the healer wasn't back yet. I had questions for her, which explained why I was making frequent visits to her tent.I exhaled; coupled with that, I was also cold. On my way to Theodore's room, I heard a voice from one of the rooms that made me stop. I took a few steps back. There was a small space on the door where the voice, or scratch that, voices, were coming from.I stood at the far end of the door, where it was attached to the wall, pressing myself against it to listen.I didn't know who Nolan was talking to, but the voice responding was lighter and familiar, like a woman's.“Why did you go back to her? You don't think I am Luna material enough for you?”“It's not that. This is about the prophecy, ok? My mum is hell-bent on getting an heir from Violetta.”I gasped. So that was her motive? That was why she wanted me to take Nolan back so badly.“So what? You're going to go on your knees and beg her. An Alpha like you.”“Enough!” Nolan exclaimed. “I'm done w
Violetta's POVI closed my eyes, trying to push my tears back. That wasn't enough.“What about the others? What about other people who may try to hurt me? I'm useless at protecting myself. Caleb was right. Caleb is right. I attract doom everywhere I go.”The tears came down my cheek. “Hey.”His hands moved my head slowly so I faced his direction. He came closer, caressing my right cheek with his thumb. My heart started racing again, and I felt hot from his touch immediately. I could hear my wolf purring, savoring the ethereal moment between us.“Listen.”His voice was deep but light, and I stared as intently as he stared back.“Caleb is wrong. You’re special. You just need time to harness your abilities.”“I don't even have a wolf.”“Shh,” he said, placing his middle finger on my lips. I melted inside.“Everyone has a wolf. It will come around someday. I know it will.”I shook my head, taking his hand off me. “No, I don't want to someday. I want it now, and I need you to help me.”“He
Violetta's POV I knew that signature like the back of my palm. No one knew it better than me. But I wanted to be sure, to make sure I wasn't seeing things, so I looked at the letter closely.“S.C.” with the signature on it. It was my mother's without a doubt. So my mother had written a letter to this woman called Avina? Why? Who was she?I looked at the letter again. Maybe it was time I knew more about my mother. I wrapped the letter and placed it in the pocket of my cottage skirt. I changed my mind about the banquet hall and rushed to the healer's tent instead.Unluckily for me, she hadn't returned yet.“I thought you were coming for breakfast.”I froze. It was Theodore.I wondered how he always managed to find me.“I was. I …needed something from her.”“She won't be back till evening today. Breakfast is still on, though.”Having no choice but to wait, I made my way to the banquet hall, which I'd have completely missed if he hadn't shown me the way. He left me to go and train with
Theodore's POV I noticed how disturbed she was. That was why I got out of bed. I thought maybe then she'd sleep off easily.“You look like you need some sleep. I'm going for a jog so you have the whole bed to yourself.”“Oh,” she said, looking away. Her elbows rested on the barricade, hands holding the blanket I got for her.Silence enveloped us, and it was absolutely sickening. I watched her demeanor, how she changed her stance every three minutes, and how she walked to the edge in intervals, like there was some sort of comfort there. Finally, she took a seat on one of the outdoor sofas. The trees rustled in the distance. I'd always loved the place for the views, even as a child.“You know, I saw a monster once in those trees when I was little.”“What kind of monster?” she asked.“A green giant one”I glanced at her. She was smiling, not largely, but I could see it on her face—the faint line that grew a centimeter longer.“I saw a monster once. I hid under my bed, and when it was mo
Violetta's POVI stood, staring at the door for a while. The thought of going back to Theodore's room deeply annoyed me. I took another deep breath in, gathering all the ego and calm I could muster. I'd need it to face someone as annoying as Theodore. He opened the door before I got to it, like he knew that I was already there.“Welcome back,” he remarked sarcastically. I didn't respond; I just moved to the room on the left.“Caleb's sleeping there tonight. He's already moved some of his things.”I had a brief moment of relief hearing that because it also meant I wouldn't be alone. But then I realized. I'd have to sleep in the same bed with him.And he wasn't injured anymore.Something seemed to excite me, and I caught hold of myself immediately.“Don’t be pathetic, Violetta. You're done with men.”I set down the clothes I'd picked on the couch. I wanted to change, so I took one of the dresses from the healer and went into the extra room on the right.Just then, Theodore stepped out o
