Violetta's POV.

I felt my breath freeze in my lungs at the immediate sight of him.

Of course, I could recognize him instantly. He had saved me from getting hit at the ceremony. And now, he was back again.

“Violetta,” he called my name again. His voice ran deep into my head, awakening the confused and quiet soul in me.

My eyes finally rested on him as I stared. But my lips couldn't move for a rest. His palms were still stretched out too, waiting to get a response.

Suddenly, after a much delayed response, he finally placed his palms on mine and drew me up to my feet. I winced at first because he had placed his hands on the injured part of my hand. However, it wasn't up to a minute when I felt a sudden shift inside of me, and I gasped for breath immediately.

“My hands,” the words mumbled out of my lips as I continued scanning, turning to both sides. I wiped my eyes double again, another measure. And I was right. The blood had dried up, and the injury had healed up too, all because of him.

I turned to stare at him. His eyes were on me with his face curled up in a slight smile.

“Thank you.” The words freely left my lips even if I was completely shy standing in his presence.

“You don't need to thank me.” He responded. It was supposed to be unsettling, watching how his eyes almost bored into my soul. Yet, I found it different. It was completely mesmerizing to stare back at his hazel eyes, filled with more warmth than I could ever imagine a person having.

“Mind if I do something?” He questioned, his voice rearing its head above the silence, which was about to soak us in.

“What is it?” I asked. Unfortunately, I didn't get a rest until he did what he wanted to do.

I almost let out a scream when he carried me into his arms, and like a flash of lightning, he teleported right to the rooftop of the mansion.

He let me down the moment we got there. And I was so lost in the beauty of the magnificent view that I forgot I had almost gotten a heart attack from the teleportation.

“Wow.” The words left my lips as I kept on staring. It felt empowering to me, having a clearer sight of every other mansion, home, and place that seemed far away from ours.

It felt as though I was having a direct sneak peek into people's lives.

“This is my favorite place. I come here whenever I feel there's a need to let a large burden off me. Or, even, to blow off some steam.” He began to speak.

“You come here to blow off some steam?” I asked again to be sure I had heard him right.

“Yes.” He turned to look back at me, his eyes slightly widened.

I paused, my heart suddenly thumping and a high wave of heat crashing down my body.

I didn't think he was going to be bold enough to spill out certain secrets as such on our first meeting.

“Hold on. Why is your face that way?” He pointed.

“What is wrong with my face?” I asked, using my hands to feel it as if I could tell the expression from that.

“It's crying down in so much redness as if you've been holding down a lot of anger. Or, are you angry?” He asked immediately.

I let out a deep sigh and looked away in silence for a few minutes.

“You say you come here to blow off steam. Do you realize what that means?” I asked.

“Yes,” he dragged out his response, his eyes slightly squeezing shut as if he was suddenly unsure of his response.

“Eww.” My face turned red, and my guy tightened in disgust.

“Don't you think that is too personal to share with someone, especially if you're meeting me for the first time? And why on earth would you bring me to the same place?” I couldn't wait for him to prove me wrong.

A scoff escaped his lips while he stared in mixed feelings of surprise and confusion.

“I think I'm more confused at this point. Why should that be something of a secret?”

I stared wide-eyed, my hands running up to my waist. I gasped and scoffed, confused and more irritated about how else I was supposed to explain it to him.

“Hold on. What exactly do you think it is to blow off steam?” He stopped me before I could speak.

“What else is it supposed to mean if not having sex with someone?” I shot out, my eyes almost bulging out of their sockets.

“And gosh! To even think that you have to do it on a rooftop. No proper planning.” I went on saying, the disgust and disappointment still evident in my voice.

His loud laughter, which followed next, shocked the bones out of me. I listened and watched as his voice filled the entire rooftop. Although amidst other things, I was quick to observe how differently his face lit up. And he looked more charming, beauty radiating from all corners despite it being late into the night.

“What's funny?” I forced my voice to come out dryly as my eyes couldn't leave him.

“Well, forgive me if my laughter sounded rude. But then, I just couldn't help it.” He resumed speaking in his usual tone.

“But how on earth would you think that way so quickly?”

“Isn't that what it means?” I argued.

“No,” he shot out quickly. “Blowing off steam could mean that to some people. And it also means taking time to cool off for a while. That was what I meant in my case.”

His explanation made my whole body suddenly go numb in disappointment.

“Oh, shit!” I muttered.

“It's alright. Although I deserve an apology.” His voice was exceptionally thick, and I could instantly feel his eyes on me.

I swallowed hard and turned to him shyly, unable to take a standard look at him.

“I'm sorry,” I said and waited to get a response from him. But there was nothing until he spoke again.

“You know, I could heal you completely if you'd just let me kiss you.” His words ran deep into my head, and I looked up immediately, our eyes locking into each other.

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 173

Violetta’s POV.We sat in the square, watching as Luna Theresa was escorted in, clad in plain, non-silk clothes. It was her day of reckoning, and unfortunately for her, it wasn’t a good one.The guards shoved her to her knees before a table, and although she tried hard to hide it, I definitely saw the trembling of her fingers as the chief elder began to read out her crimes and expected punishment.“For all the crimes listed, the worst being the death of our former beloved Alpha, we sentence the former Mother Luna, Theresa, to death by self-poisoning. This shall serve as a warning to all others.”The crowd burst into thick murmurs as everyone pointed accusing and mocking fingers at her. But she was Luna Theresa; she wasn’t about to die without an entrance. “Do you all think you’re better than me? Pure saints of nobility, is that it? Is that why you believe you have the right to judge me? Go ahead and try to take my position, and let's see how well you can resist the temptations that

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 172

Violetta’s POV“What?” He asked, startled. I smiled, not surprised by his reaction.“Violetta, are you certain by your words? I mean, they’re pretty heavy.”I nodded. “Of course. I found this letter a while back, but I didn’t know what use it was, so I just left it lying around until this maid, formerly under Luna Theresa, came to me, exposing everything about it.”His eyes widened again at my words. “So you mean this was a letter from your mother to mine trying to warn her of Luna Theresa’s plan against her life?”I took a deep breath, nodding. “Exactly, a gesture which eventually led to the destruction of her life.”“Oh my goodness, Violetta. I—I’m so sorry about this.”“Oh no, you have nothing to apologize for; my mother did the right thing. Unfortunately, we have people like Luna Theresa around us.”He stared at me with such softness that it made me want to melt. We remained in that position for what felt like an eternity until I forced myself back to reality by feigning a cough

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 171

Theodore’s POV“I know that was a bit harsh for Nolan. I want you to know that I didn’t mean it, I just needed something that’ll hurt her as much as I am hurting.” I quickly whispered into her ear as we walked out of the dungeon. “You don’t need to explain it to me. I know exactly what your intentions were. Besides, she needed to hear it. She deserves it. Now we need to focus on gathering all the evidence we can use to bring an end to her.”I replied just as we turned onto the hallway leading to my room. I held onto her tightly, still reeling from the private moment we had earlier. They couldn’t contain the happiness that swirled through me.The moment we got close, the door flung open and I was met with Caleb who stared at me as if there was something serious going on. Violetta pulled away from me quickly, drawing a surprise gasp from my lips.“Violetta?” I murmured.“Sorry, old habits.” She whispered nervously.Although she had given me an answer to my question, I guess she wasn’t

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 170

Luna Theresa’s POV“Take this disgusting food away from me and call me Theodore and Violetta right now.” I yelled, tossing the tray of food on the ground. My fists pressed together angrily as I thought about their audacity. How dare they lock me up like some toothless animal? How dare they treat me in such a disrespectful manner? No matter what happens, I’m still the mother Luna and I deserve that respect and those little children have no right to do whatever they like to me. “I swear, I’m going to kill them. I’m going to make them regret this madness.” I yelled, not caring if anyone was hearing me. “If she doesn’t want to eat, take the food away. She doesn’t deserve it anyway.”I heard a voice call out from outside and when I turned, I was met with none other than the two people I hated most. I slammed my hand hard against the cell door. “Take me out of here this instant. How dare you lock me up like some good-for-nothing criminal, huh?”They sneered before Violetta leaned in. “

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 169

Violetta’s POV“How do you feel? How have you been all this time? It’s been so long since I set eyes on you.” Theodore asked gently, his palm settled on my face. It’s been so long since we had been apart, but I didn’t even seem to have words to express myself at that moment. He sighed, shaking his head sorrowfully. “I know I messed up big time. There’s no excuse for what I did that day, but—.”“Sheesshh.” I pressed my fingers against his lips. I knew why he acted that way and had heard all of it, so I wasn’t about to let him blame himself for any reason. “I’m fine, Theodore. You don’t need to apologize because the healer has told me all of it.”He stared at me in surprise. “Really? She told you everything?”I nodded. “So you know that I didn’t push you intentionally?” “Yes, Theodore. I know it wasn't intentional but a result of the evil perpetuated by Luna Theresa.”“Oh Violetta, you have no idea how happy I am to hear those words. I am so very happy.”He said happily, raising me

  • The Luna’s Second Life   Chapter 168

Carissa’s POV.I stood in the cell, my hands shaking beside me as I thought of all that had happened in the twinkle of an eye. My throat felt as dry as sand from all the screaming I paid to that evil creature, Violetta. “Tch.” I scoffed, still finding it hard to believe what she had done. She set me up, and I stupidly fell for it, exposing my own crimes to the very people who weren’t supposed to hear about it.She stood there watching me destroy my life and didn’t even bother to stop me. “Violetta, you’re completely evil,” I murmured, squeezing my cloak tightly beside me. I couldn’t even believe my eyes. The reality that I was outsmarted by her and my life was about to be on the line because of her made my blood boil. She was still meek a few moons earlier; how did she get this daring right under my nose? First, they had my father’s life hanging by a thread, and then she almost hurt my son. The last somewhat effective card I had up my sleeve. How could Violetta be the downfall o
