Violetta’s POV

“How can I help you, Nolan?” I asked.

“Why so serious, Violetta? I’m still the Alpha after all. You continue to reject me. Do you know how many women would kill to be with me?” he replied smugly.

I crossed my arms over my chest. “Then go be with them, Nolan. I’m not interested in being with you. Not now. Not ever. So please, stop this harassment of sending your people to pick me up whenever. It’s getting tiresome, but Carissa wants you and will do whatever. Stick to her.”

He walked closer to me. “What can I do to change your mind, Violetta? I’ll do anything, anything at all that you want.”

I scoffed. “Nolan, I’m never going to change my mind. So just stop this, okay?”

Silence.

Then he spat, “It’s because of Theodore, right? That’s why you refuse the Alpha, right?” I mean, come on, Violetta, we all make mistakes; you must’ve made a few yourself.”

I stared at him intently, the rage burning deep inside me. His audacity led him to compare my mistakes, whatever they may be,

Violetta’s POVAs I opened the door, about to leave the room, Theodore pushed it closed from behind me.“You can’t keep avoiding me forever; you know that, right?”“Please, just let me go.”“Why? Because of something you heard me and Caleb say that we actually didn’t?” I turned to him sharply, my eyes glaring daggers at him.“So what, you mean I’m lying?”“No, that’s not what I meant.”“So what do you mean, Theodore?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.“I don’t even know what you saw, Violetta. And the little you told me was vague. Unclear. I asked Caleb, and he doesn’t remember us having any conversation that fits into that context.”“Obviously, do I expect you to say anything else?““Violetta, you’ve got to help me here. What did you hear or see me and Caleb discussing about you?”“Fine, since you want to lie about it, I’m just going to spell it out there. You told Caleb…” I paused, breathing. “You told him that you only pitied me, and that’s why you kept me around.”He looked

Theodore’s POVI watched, startled in my own spot, as she ran away. “That I heard what you said… To Caleb. I heard everything you told him about me.”Her words kept ringing in my ear. What could she have heard me tell Caleb?I couldn’t remember telling him anything specifically about her. At least, not something that would piss her off like this. When I finally returned to the room that evening, she still had not returned. But I met Caleb and decided to ask him if we had discussed anything remotely close to what could have pissed her off.“Umm, Caleb?”“Yeah, what’s up, man?”“Umm, do you remember us discussing anything about Violetta?”He stared blankly. “No, no, I don’t really. Why do you ask?”“Are you sure?”“Yeah, man. If we did, I would remember; I’m not an idiot.”I sighed. “So why does she think you and I were discussing something so bad about her that she basically ran away from me?”“What? She ran away from you?”“Yeah, she said she overheard you and me discussing somethin

Violetta’s POV.I felt myself falling into Theodore's arms, convinced I was about to pass out as usual from my seemingly irrevocable weakness. But just as I fell onto him, eyes closed. “Are you okay, Violetta?” Theodore’s voice called out behind me, bringing me back to reality. “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” I said, my voice a little breathy.“What did you feel? Why did you fall back like that?”“I have no idea; I just felt something within me. It wasn’t weak, and it wasn’t strong. Just…”“Balance?” His voice cut in.I flung my face to his. “Yeah, exactly. It felt like balance. You know, like something was happening. Not bad, not good. Just an occurrence. One I wasn’t scared of, one that didn’t seem like it wanted to eat me alive.”“And your wolf, did… Did you feel her? Or anything else?”I looked away, a bit of shame settling over me. “Well, I may have misspoken. I didn’t feel my wolf, so I guess there was a bad part to it after all.”He immediately settled his hands on my shoulders. “Hey,

Theodore’s POV. As soon as the first light of day came up, I was up on my feet, headed towards the healer’s hut.Caleb’s questioning the night before piqued my curiosity. I could barely get any sleep throughout the night as my mind wandered about the necklace and its meaning.“Tap Tap.” I made light knocking taps on the healer's door.Though she was known to be a moody one, I prayed to the moon goddess to at least put her in a good mood. That way, she may be willing to give her attention and give me honest answers to what I seek.In a moment, the door swung open. She appeared in her usual dark regalia. Mood as sour as I always knew it. Dark and broody. Bummer. It seems the moon goddess was in no mood for prayers. But I’d still have to try.“Morning, healer.” She gave no response, just stepped aside, gesturing for me to come in. No surprise there.I walked in. Taking in deep breaths, I mustered up the courage to bring forth my questions.“How may I help you, sir?” Her gloomy voice

Theodore’s POVI gave a small smile. It was a relief to finally see her show her true colors.“So what if I don’t leave her? What happens?”She smirked. “Well, my dear child. Trust me, you do not want to know.”“Well, I thought when it comes to matters of the heart, it should be left between the two people involved. I’m a man, and so is the Alpha. Why can’t she chase after whoever she wants? He likes her the same way he believes I do. Why do I have to let go of her, especially if she doesn’t want him?”She smiled with meaning. Her eyes traveled over my body. I saved my words. I just struck a deep slap across her face.“Well, I must say you’re right on that. In this case, this is the Alpha. He doesn’t need to chase a woman. He just needs to take her if he ever wants to.”“But he doesn’t want to,” I cut in sharply.“Says who?”“You don’t go around calling the woman you want names, and when a man fights you over it, you throw him in the dungeon.”She laughed. “Well, we all make mistakes,

Luna Theresa’s POV.I stepped down from my carriage as the cool breeze kissed my face.In the carriage beside me, Beta John stepped down, his wife beside him, and immediately the people around saw them, their eyes widened.Nolan and Carissa stood at the entrance of the palace, waiting to greet us. She ran towards her parents, bustling in excitement, pretending to be surprised by their presence.Nolan walked closer to me, uncertainty visible in his eyes. But he should know that all I do is for his best interest. Of course, I wouldn’t be explaining any of that to him.“Welcome back, Dad and Mom.” Carissa said, before turning back to me and paying a bow, “I’m so sorry for your graciousness. I should’ve greeted you first.”“Oh, it’s fine, dear child; I know you’re just so excited to finally see your parents after being away for a while. I’ll let you go this one time.”She bowed again. “Thank you for your graciousness. You are far too kind.”“Now shall we get inside? I’d like to reintroduc
