Chapter 1

Danika's POV:

"Listen to me, Danika. You can never tell anyone about your wolves, do you understand?"

I nodded my head.

"Yes, mama."

"No one must know." she whispered.

"When do I get to shift?" I asked.

"When the time is right, my love. You will know..."

"Remember, we are always with you." my father whispered and kissed my head. That was the last day I ever saw them.

That day, I felt warm, loved, and most of all, I had a home.

Until they were gone, and I was all alone.

BACK TO PRESENT---

"Get up, you wolfless bitch!" I felt a kick to my stomach and groaned.

Here we go again.

Another day, another she-wolf spits at my face to feed their damn pride.

"I expect breakfast to be ready in ten minutes. You hear me?" she snarled.

"Yes," I simply said and set out to work but she yanked my hair back, making me scream as instant pain shot from my scalp.

"What did I tell you about answering me RESPECTFULLY, little b*tch?" she tugged my hair harder. I gritted my teeth knowing it would be way worse if I made a sound.

She wants me to call her luna. But I never did, and it pisses her off.

"You're still not going to say it?" she snarled looking at me expectantly.

I pressed my lips together.

"I will never call you that, Linda." I said firmly. She raised her brow at me.

"And why the fuck not?!" she screeched. My ears hurt from her high-pitched voice.

"A true luna would not behave the way you do."

She scoffed.

"And I suppose you of all people know how a true luna should act?" She snorted.

"Don't make me laugh. You? You're nothing but a murderer. If it weren't for you, the Alpha and Luna would still be alive." she snarled.

I drop my head. there is nothing I could say to that.

She scoffed again.

"Why do they have to sacrifice their lives for someone as worhtless as you?" she spat, sounding irritated.

I keep my mouth shut, recalling that night that haunted me in my dreams, every night since.

She shoved me forward, making me hit the attic wall that is converted into my room. My head hit concrete so hard and the impact sent me stumbling back and I fall to the floor.

A ringing sound entered my hearing, my head throbbed. Linda kicked my back sending me forward again and my hands slammed on the wooden floor I caught splinters.

"You will always be useless and pathetic wolf to him. So don't even think you could actually be luna. Even if, by some crazy miracle, that you turn out to be his mate, he won't bat so much as an eye for a murderer like you," she hissed, kicking me for the last time with her heels before she walked away.

I did not mind her words. I have no interest in becoming luna, nor do I have any desire to be with her alpha.

"Shame the betas died in their place. I guess karma is a real bitch," then she snorted and walked away.

I felt my hands ball into fists and I bit my lip hard. I swallowed the metallic taste in my mouth and fought back tears threatening to escape. Forcing my eyes closed, I recall the words my mother whispered to me, knowing it always calms me down in just a few moments.

"We are always with you,"

That's right. They are with me. Always.

I waited until her footsteps completely faded away before forcing my body up and off the ground.

Movement becomes yet another thing I must endure to get through the day. I sighed, picking up my apron beside my makeshift bed and wincing as I lifted my arms so I could tie my hair.

It is useless, however, because no matter how much I try to lift them, the stabbing pain forces me to drop my arms back to my sides.

I give up. I'll just have to make do with it for the rest of the day.

Noticing the mirror, I stop, staring at my reflection. My naturally wavy white hair flows down my breasts. Something I had tried to hidr for years with cloths and handkerchiefs, but they always get noticed. A reminder of my beta lineage. A Solari. Apart from that, my eyes have two colors, blue on one side and green on the other, which makes me stand out even more. All the other maids have brown or black eyes.

I have no clue if its a mixture of my parents' eye color or if it had something to do with me having two wolves. It would make sense, because Annika has blue eyes and Kanya have green.

I shrugged. Not that it mattered. I can never shift or it would be risking both their lives and mine.

After cleaning up my face a little, I went straight to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for the Alpha and the entire pack. It is impossible to get breakfast ready for the pack in under ten minutes, but it is possible for the Alpha and Linda before he wakes up.

Walking into the kitchen, I instantly receive murderous glares being shot in my direction from the omegas in here. I don't look. Instead, I pretend I am invisible as I do my first chore of the day. Still, my heart tugs painfully in my chest for the reason that, they all had watched me growing up. I was practically raised by them, too. The beta's daughter, they used to give me sweet treats when I sneak off from my parents. I guess it is just one of the privileges I once had, but not anymore.

"You're not alone." Sandy, my first wolf, whispered in my head.

"You have us." my second wolf, Selena, added.

I sighed inwardly.

"I know. Now hide. They will smell you." I tell them both. They didn't stay in my headspace any longer and retreated. It is far too dangerous.

I shook my head and quickly make the sandwiches, tea for Linda and the Alpha's morning coffee. Just the way he likes it.

After setting it all up in a single, large tray, I walked out of the kitchen.

As expected, the Alpha is already sitting on the table. Linda, who is shooting daggers at me as I walked, sat on his right and placed her hand above his, squeezing it as if I was going to snatch him from her any moment.

I bowed my head and bared my neck in submission.

"Breakfast is ready, Alpha."

He doesn't nod or speak, so I moved forward and set down the tray on the table.

But then my foot tripped on something, making me stumble forward. I gasped as the contents of the tray splayed all over the table. Some of it splashed on Linda's face that made me feel secretly happy. but most spilled on the Alpha's shirt.

My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when a threatening snarl sounded through the hall. I heard Linda snicker and I froze.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" he growled and I was about to apologize when his hand snatched me by my throat. I gasped.

"Well not on purpose this time," he chuckles and I glare at him."What do you want?" I hiss."Look, I know I have been an a*s**t to you for the past years, but this time I promise I won't," he says, holding out his pinky like a creepy man handing a little girl a poisoned candy.I glare at his hand, which he retracts after a short time of me not reaching back for it.He sighs, my eyes narrowing at him. Danika's POVAll of us goes silent as Hunter staggers back while the man who punched him hadn't moved, staring him down.I look at Hunter whose eyes stared in a daze, and shakes his head as he has his ass handed to him. He shakes like a whole bucket of ice water was splashed over his head. Then walking up to the man, he stops to stand in front of him all imposing, while clenching and unclenching his fists by his sides."What the hell is your problem?" he growls out and the man who looked so serious after punching his alpha I see curl his lips."Glad you asked, 'Alpha'," he acknowledged yet in the most insulting way possible before he continues, "First off. We are starving. There haven't been enough food for everyone for days and we are not allowed to out of the borders to hunt," he says in a voice that sounds like he is growling all the time. The man is tall and a hunk, but the bags under his eyes and the restlessness on his face stood out more in overall appearance.Hunter scoffs."W

DanikaI was able to hold back the growl of my wolf as we watched them be so clingy toward each other. And neither of them even noticed. It frustrated me that Emma was acting like this to Hunter, especially when she was the one who risked her life trying to get me away from him. She had done a complete 180 and now acts like his perfect lover. "Can I get your attention now?" It came out more sarcastically than I intended, but I couldn't help it. The feeling of betrayal is there, and I am still very skeptical towards Hunter. His wolf may have been civil, but his human counterpart is a whole other matter. Years of serving the pack with him as Alpha already ingrained what kind of personality he had in my mind, and until I actually see change, I refuse to see him as anything else other than the senseless prick I had to deal with.Hunter looks around one more timem and nods his head."The strigoi led the attack. The beta informed me while the warriors were busy defending the pack from the

Hunter's POVI follow Danika, my ex-mate, as we walk out of the pack house. Emma walked by my side and she was keeping a pretty far distance between us. It worried me, but then again I wasn't used to... 'needing' someone by my side. Especially a woman.'Oh shut up, like you don't remember how desperate you were for her scent every night,' my wolf huffs. I growl and Emma gives me a pointed look that immediately made my heart stop beating. As we walked, a strange feeling settled in my chest. One because Danika, who had been gone for a week and now giving me a tour of MY pack. Naturally it gives off an odd feeling and when she said something about the orphanage and the kids in it being dead, I was more shocked. Two because once I took a step outside the pack house and into the pack grounds, my chest became so heavy I fell on my knees.Emma rushed by my side and linked her arm with mine, while I was having difficulty breathing.I looked up and around my packhouse. A growl I cannot control

Danika"Why are you back?" he asks, surprising me but not enough to get me stuck in a trance. Him not knowing that he practically carried me here tells me him and his wolf aren't communicating as well as I thought."Your wolf brought me here," I reply, staring at him with indifference."What? He wouldn't..." his eyes focus in as if he is trying to recall something in his head, but he shakes it away quickly."Nevermind. What is going on? And what is this I hear about magic?" he roars. Just as I thought, he only snaps when he hears the word magic."No one is going to wield magic in MY pack," he snarls, taking on a stance that screams animosity.Yet I don't cower or lower my head. Instead, I give him a deadly look that seemed to take him aback. "YOUR pack is going to die if you keep killing their magic," I say warningly, and he widens his eyes looking surprised."Nonsense, it's been years since I bound their magic, they are fine," he defends, but his voice faded at the end as if he hi

DanikaI kick the doors so hard they smash through the walls with a bang. I stomped into his office, heart pounding against my flesh I feared I would explode. My eyes shot to him seated behind the desk looking down at some papers and flashed red they are almost glowing. Beta Robert tried to stop me but I could see that he was too scared to. As soon as he saw the flames burst in the palm of my hands, he seemed skeptical to approach me. Nonetheless, he helped me out because I wanted to rip his heart out of his chest and kill him."Fancy seeing you here. Have you come to take back all you said and accept my proposal?" he asks without looking up. It astonishes me how he asks so calm after everything, while the pack is suffering in his reign."Do you have any idea what has happened to your pack?" I snarl the words, making him snap his eyes to me."How do you mean?" he questioned, letting me know he doesn't.I grit my teeth and glance at a petrified-looking Robert glance between us two."Ki
