CHAPTER 10

LIORA

IT STARTED AS a small stomach ache, but before I knew what was happening, labour contractions shook me to my core. I was alone in the house, and none of my neighbours were available.

I struggled to the door, hoping that I would make it to the main street and meet anybody, but the contractions in my lower belly made me groan and sit back down. I lay down on the floor, waiting for the contractions to pass.

The pain was like nothing I had ever felt. My breath quickened, and I realized that I was going into labour right now.

"Help!" I wheezed weakly and forlornly. No one was going to hear me and come to my aid. I was going to bleed out to death on the floor. "My baby..." I whispered, as a trickle of blood ran down my inner thigh.

I could not tell if I was hallucinating, but my door burst open, and Alpha Cassian was staring down at me. I could not tell the look on his face, but he disappeared again.

"Help..." I called weakly.

    WHEN CASSIAN WOKE up, his heart was still heavy, and his mind was troubled. The sub had risen and was shining through the small gap in his window.     HE COULD FEEL the impatient and slightly judging eyes of Sienna pinned on him as he thought of an answer to her question.“Well, are you?” She urged.Cassian snorted, angry at the question.     CASSIAN PROWLED THE length of his room restlessly. The beast within him could not go to the back, and kept threatening to take control.He could not tell if it was because of the child that was a room underneath his, or if it was because of the mother, Liora.Maybe it was because of both the child and the mother. Their proximity was doing something to Cassian, something he could noy explain. Growling, and unable to take it anymore, he walked out of his room.     LIORAI HAD A SMILE plastered on my face as the woman came downstairs. She looked even more stunning when she got close, and she exuded such a powerful aura that it felt like everyone disappeared as she approached me.     LIORAI WAS DISCHARGED after a few days. Cassian never came to visit me anymore, but when I slept, I could feel his presence. I was not sure if it was real or if my mind was playing tricks on me because whenever I woke up, I always saw that I was alone.My child was medically approved to be healthy even though he was born prematurely.On the morning I was to be discharged, Sienna burst into my room with a bunch of balloons.     LIORAWHEN I WOKE up, my first instinct was to reach out for my baby. I sat up abruptly, and my head spun."Relax," a voice said. I turned around sharply and saw Sienna with my baby. She was cradling him gently."The doctors said you will remain at the hospital for a few days to make sure everything is fine.""Should something be wrong?" I asked."Don't get defensive on me," she said. "The baby was born premature." She snorted. "They are humans.
