Chapter 2: The Ball Part 2

It’s the morning of the ball and the Alpha King’s birthday, and the omegas are busy with decorations and getting food prepared for the guests. All the unmated males are also excited to see if they find their true mates or chosen mates. All the ladies of the land are willing to look their best in their new gowns, willing to impress the king and his subjects. The Elders are making themselves heard and making sure everything runs smoothly, the guards are making sure the surroundings are safe and ready for anything. As time rolled by it was time to start accepting the maidens of the land opening up the grounds for the guests. The music started to play and the guests were arriving quickly as the castle was filled with wolves and lycans alike, many in hopes of finding their mates or choosing a mate. King Aidan was preparing for the ball as well as the other royal subjects who would be attending the ball. Roman knew for a fact he would be choosing a mate tonight the one he was waiting for.

Since morning, I have been up doing my chores as I love to help around the cottage although, I don’t need to. My mother has been excited all morning and can’t wait to see who the king picks to be his queen. Secretly she is hoping I am the lucky one to be picked as the queen but there are a lot of maidens who are more suitable to be the queen that will be in attendance, however, the pack can’t wait to welcome their new Luna and queen, I have gone to visit Danielle as she doesn’t live that far away, just beyond the lake. As I walked there I was thinking about the possibilities I could have if I was chosen as queen, after all, a girl can dream, plus, I heard the new king is quite a catch, hopefully, he has a personality to match. Danielle was arguing with her father again about not finding a mate and he hated that she was going to the ball to find one.

It seems he doesn’t like the king and I have a feeling they know why, he lost his mate in the war and he blames the king although the new king was not on the throne at the time. He would prefer she gets mated to one of his friends’ sons who can give her strong pups, she doesn't want to be mated to any of her father's friends, so she is hoping to find her mate tonight at the ball. We spent the afternoon talking about what to expect about the ball, the food, the drinks, the entertainment, and all the handsome subjects to choose from as we laughed about how good it would be to be mated until I returned home to get ready to attend the ball.

"Lily, where have you been? It is getting late, and we don’t want to be late, it would be rude." My mother was worried I wouldn’t be back on time and my father was in his room getting ready as well. I ran to go get my bath and get ready for the ball with the help of my omega. I was nervous as I looked in the mirror watching how good I looked in my dress, my mother smiled as she entered the room and said, "Make us proud," as we headed to the carriage to attend the ball. After arriving at the ball, I saw so many she-wolves looking all fancy in their gowns of all colors, for the moment, I thought I wasn't as pretty as the others but my wolf said, "We are beautiful and will find a suitable mate," before going to the back of my mind.

I smiled, my gown was elegant and it attracted the attention of the men in attendance looking at my beauty, my gown was a beautiful emerald green and gold dress with my hair in a high bun looking elegant. My make-up was simple with gold earrings and a gold bracelet. I was looking for Danielle when I picked up this most amazing scent of wood and musk but it quickly vanished, my wolf Adina was on edge as if something big was going to happen.

King, my Lycan seemed to be on edge for the entire day and was giving me a headache, I have been meeting with the council about finding myself a mate soon and getting a queen. I quickly mind-linked Roman, "Roman, have you done what I asked you to do earlier?" “Yes Aiden, we have been investigating the rumors about rogues planning to take over the kingdom, but it seemed to be false as no one has seen that many rogues since the war." "Ok, time to have fun see you in ten minutes," and he closed the link. Roman was so reliable and always on top of things, I hope he finds a mate at the ball because I'm not too sure he will pick a chosen mate. I walked to the ballroom, followed by my bodyguards, It was time for my celebration and I could hear the music and the people beyond the ballroom doors.

I was nervous as it would be the first celebration of my birthday since the war and I was excited about finding my mate and queen. I stand by the doors as the royal guard announces my name before I enter and wolves on both sides bow their heads to me out of respect. I walked to the platform to give a short speech and then it happened, I picked up this amazing scent. It smelled of roses and King came forward and said, "Mate is here." I looked around but tried not to be so obvious as I walked on stage to give the speech as the elders started to talk, my eyes landed on her beautiful face. Ty and Drax sense my uneasiness as Roman gives me a look of confusion, I was distracted, I was in a trans and so was she, the one I had been waiting for, my mate.
