Chapter 16

Yvonne stared back at me from the other end of our cell.

Night had descended over the castle, blanketing us in darkness.

"So," Yvonne began, her tone one of false indifference. "Is it just me or... did the king seem really angry at that boy for humiliating you?"

I looked away, trying to act indifferent so she'd drop the topic. I shrugged. "Beats me."

She didn't drop it, instead she started to slither towards me. "Did anything happen between you two?"

"No," I said. When she continued to approach me, I shot her a look that stopped her in her tracks. I rose a brow at her pointedly. "I'm in here because I tried to kill him, remember?"

Saying nothing, she tilted her head at me, continuing to look at me for an unnerving while.

A loud clang sounded beyond the steel doors and we snapped our heads toward it. I watched the handle twist, and then the door was pushed open. In walked two huge lycan guards.

Wordlessly, one approached our cell, opening it.

Once he stepped in, I drew up, instantly g
