Lucinda's POV.

I took a deep breath, refusing to give them the attention that they wanted.

I just didn't understand why they couldn't freaking leave me alone when I had not done anything to them besides just remain in my lane. It was almost as though they had an obsession with me.

If there was anything I wanted to deal with it had to be the fact that somebody was trying to get on my last nerve and I hated it to my core.

"I don't see why my name should be coming up in conversations that don't even revolve around me." I immediately spoke up, refusing to become a coward especially in the presence of my ex-husband.

"I don't think you should speak to me in such a manner.” She responded in annoyance which I didn't think made any sense because I have not done anything to warrant her speech but it was best known to her and I was not about to start arguing about that.

I had given myself the ultimatum to maintain a balance so that my brain remained at optimum position instead of allowing

Lucinda's POV. The party started with a bang, and I felt myself shivering in my position, trying to freaking figure out what was going on but coming up with nothing. I had a few ideas on my line but I would not even tow the line or pretend like everything was going on smoothly when I knew that it was quite the opposite. Only a few ideas ransacked my mind, giving me a newer perspective of how things should be. I had a few things that I wanted to run through myself and be sure that I had everything under control. Daston walked towards us, his eyes fixated on mine, telling me that he was up to no good. This man was rumored for his excessive way of destroying a person's life even without looking back. He had always felt like the world revolved around him and there was nothing we could do to stop it. While I was of the opinion that he was doing too much and I needed somebody to just put their foot down and stop the tyrant from breathing. It wasn't going to do anyone any harm. As far

Lucinda's POV. My skin kept crawling no matter what happened and I couldn't bring myself to enjoy the party. I'm a girl who probably wondered why I was behaving like I was about to be led to a slaughter but I didn't see any difference between me and whatever was going on at the moment. I had a few hours of active service that didn't require even moving around but at the same time I was hoping that there would be mistakes whatsoever. I just hoped that stupid guy wouldn't go ahead and try to rat me out because I knew that he was actively jealous of me and there was no way he could keep on hiding it unless he wanted to be a liar to himself. I had a few theories that I also wanted to try out but none of them were coming to my mind at the moment. Instead of that, I kept on feeling like I had done something wrong in my past life. I must have offended someone so bad that they wanted to get me out of a place where I could probably get my revenge.Killian's eyes never left me for a second

Darcus' POV.Standing outside in a place where she had lost a lot of things was not the right way she wanted to spend the day, but at the moment she had wasted a lot of time and energy, I watched Lucinda move as though she was frustrated even if I didn't understand why. I knew that it was going to be hard to comprehend whatever is going on because it was never intended to go this way. There was just a little disagreement that we could not put our fingers on. The ability to be able to rise and destroy whatever opponent came across us was one thing that I loved in our relationship. "I wanted to tell you about the alpha in the Netherlands. He would no longer be joining our speakers. I have discovered that he is not as truthful as he claims to be, so we've got to be careful about our next actions and make sure that it tallies. I also believe that we would be able to figure out our new motive and how we can stop whatever is going on." Killian spoke, staring at me with so much inquisitio

Lucinda's POV. I would have taken it upon myself to work as much as I could if I had the chance but at the point where I knew I had nothing to hide except Killian was trying to become a pest in my life, I decided to take it easy on myself and not worry about what might not be in the picture at all. I had only one reason to be mad at myself which included leaving my man to the hands of another vulture waiting for the right opportunity to prey on him. Abigail looked at me shooting me concerned stares, but I shrugged pretending like everything was fine. "You've got to give yourself the benefit of doubt especially when it comes to this part honestly I think that you should cut yourself some slack. You have been disturbing the lady since she settled into this place. She doesn't deserve such treatment." Samantha spoke as soon as the men left us seated. I was surprised at the turnout of events because she was the last person I expected to ever back me up when there was a crisis. Was I

Lucinda's POV. Now what do you do when a person placed his entire life into your hands expecting that you didn't mess it up? You go as far as staying away from anything that spelled trouble. As soon as I descended the stairs for the birthday party, I locked eyes with Killian who was sitting at the dining table. Darcus' eyes lit up in fondness immediately he set his eyes on me which made me a little bit self-conscious.He was no longer hiding the fact that he took a preference for me and everyone else would want my head on a platter so that they could satisfy their own urges. It also didn't move him to see that everyone close by wanted to tear my head off, or rip me apart into two.The energy was tense but I rode it like the Queen that I was.I matched towards the right side of where the love of my life sat. But for how long? How long was I going to keep on the charade until he figured out that I had already been married and was lying about it, most importantly I had children for
