LOGINThe Ridiculed Wife
Elowen's POV I blinked and he disappeared back into the darkness. I was left confused as to what the hell just happened, especially the healed cut on my palm. I didn't give myself time to ponder what happened and quickly stood on my feet. I ignored my injured leg and dragged myself back to the direction of my house to make them pay for what they did to me. I don't know how, but somehow I will. The night soon turned to morning and the sun was up when I finally arrived at my house with a broken and swollen ankle. I panted hard and licked my dry lips. I was thirsty and I would pass out anytime soon, but my hatred fueled my body enough to keep standing. “What the fuck? Are you seeing what I'm seeing, Henry?” Henry and Olga, who appeared to be leaving, rushed to where I was. They were happily laughing at each other before I arrived. None of them looked happy that I was alive. And why would they be? When they left me to die. “Fuck! Why did you come back, Elowen? Why did you have to come back?!”Henry screamed in frustration, throwing his arms in the air and grabbing his hair. “Why can't you just die in peace and leave us alone, Elowen?”Olga pushed me and I fell on my ass. “No one will even notice you're gone!” “I will tell everyone what you did.”I threatened them and Olga smirked at me. “And who will believe a useless slave like you over someone like me, huh?” That's right. I almost forgot. Olga belongs to a middle-class family and her father is a respected butler of a wealthy clan. While I am nothing but an orphan and a slave of a pack. The world has changed over the years and the lycans, werewolves and humans learned to co-exist with one another, but humans remained at the bottom of the food chain. “What have I done to you to deserve this? You want to leave me? You could have just said so! You didn't have to kill me, Henry! I'm your wife!”I pointed a shaking hand in his way and turned to Olga.“If you still loved her, why did you marry me?” I always knew Henry never loved me because how could you treat someone you love like a slave? But I guess I held onto him because he was all I had. The first man to show me the affection that I craved. “What's happening here? Why do you look like that, Elowen?”I heard Alpha Grayson asking behind me and I saw him with some of the pack members. A spark of hope bloomed inside me. Alpha Grayson is a just leader, and he will surely listen to me. “I was—” “I caught Elowen cheating on me. Olga here personally saw it and she told me about it.”Henry interrupted what I was about to say. I shot Henry a look of disbelief. “What? No! I didn't! They are having an affair behind my back and these two took me to the woods to feed me to the rogues, Alpha! Look at me. I barely made it out alive. Please believe me.” The pack members whispered to each other and Alpha Grayson himself didn't look convinced by what I said. “Elowen, Olga here is a valued member of the pack and her father has contributed to the pack a lot. I personally watched her grow up and she wouldn't do what you're accusing her of. Henry is also a good man.” My mouth fell open in disbelief and everyone looked at me with judgement and disgust in their eyes. Their gazes penetrated my skin and made me feel small. “And if I really took her to the woods, would she even make it out alive? Have you ever heard of anyone coming back in one piece?! The beast never spared anyone!” Henry continued spouting nonsense. And just like that, the table has completely turned. “Oh my. What a slut.” “She had an affair and she wanted to turn the table on Olga and Henry? What a bitch!” “Tsk. This is why paternity guidance is important. But if she's my daughter, I'd probably just disown her.” Their words got into my head and my head spun. The strength I gathered just to come back completely left me and I collapsed on the ground with a thud. “I won't feel safe with her around me anymore, Alpha,”Olga said. Through my blurry vision, I saw her crying but discreetly smiled at me when our eyes met. “What she did to me is unforgivable, Alpha. I want to divorce her.”Henry added, and the crowd went wild. They surrounded me and threw spiteful and vile words at me. Time seemed to slow down and I was beginning to lose consciousness. Black dots appeared in my line of vision and my head kept spinning. “Kick her out of the pack, Alpha!” “A whore like her doesn't belong here!” “Take her to the woods to teach her a lesson!” Their voices were drowned out by the loud sound of a motorbike engine. They all gasped and jumped away in panic when they thought he'd drive through them, but I didn't move. I had no strength to move anymore. He stopped a few steps away from me and blipped the throttle a few times before turning the engine off. He swings one foot on the ground, his leather boots scraping the rough surface. He crossed his arms in front of the bike and lifted his visor. My vision was blurry, but I could feel his gaze on me. I squinted my eyes to see better and when my vision cleared, I saw a pair of piercing blue eyes staring back at me. Something about his eyes was familiar and then it hit me. He was the lycan who saved me! “There you are. We met again, human.”Olga's Death Along With My HatredElowen's POVI remained frozen on my spot, gasping for air and my whole world freezing before me. I looked down and the dagger was just a few inches away from me!I huffed and puffed, watching how Shane slowly fell in front of me with Kohen's dagger still sticking out his neck. I just saw how the light left his eyes!“Fuck. Let's go, Lena!”I could hear Rick yelling and I dragged my eyes away from Shane to see him grabbing Lena. “But Shane—”“Shane is dead!”The door was kicked open and my eyes widened when Jake flashed in front of the two to prevent them from escaping. They started fighting each other, tearing the house down. “Are you alright?”Kohen asked when he appeared before me. He stared at me, his eyes wandering all over my face and body. I saw how an emotion quickly flashed on his face before it disappeared. He clenched his jaw and wiped the blood from the corner of my mouth.“They covered their tracks and your scent. Fortunately for us, the
The Unexpected CaptorsElowen's POVI was blindfolded so I couldn't see anything but pure darkness. I was surrounded by voices just like in my dream. So it was a vision and not just a nightmare after all. And I was a victim of my own vision. Where are Kohen and Jake? Are they safe somewhere? God, I won't be able to forgive myself if I caused their demise or if they are hurt because of me. Before they dragged me somewhere, I heard one of them saying that they were only doing their job. Were they hired by someone to hurt me? Was it Olga or perhaps the queen? Maybe she took this as a chance to get rid of me once and for all. I don't know where I was. I don't know where Kohen and Jake were. I was held captive by a group of cold blooded murderers. Maybe this is really the end. I winced when the blindfold was roughly removed from my eyes. I shut my eyes tight when the light hurt my eyes a little. My hands and feet weren't tied. Maybe because they knew I wouldn't be able to run away any
Another VisionElowen's POV I had a nightmare that night. I dreamed about Northleaves, but everything turned to pure chaos. Houses were burning, dead bodies lay on the ground. Families lay lifeless on top of each other. And in the middle of the chaos were four people, but I couldn't make out their faces, only their mouths. They were looking at the dead people around them with a sick grin on their faces. I looked around and searched for Kohen and Jake to ask for help, but I was completely devastated when I saw them imprisoned inside a glass box. They were trying to break the glass. They were screaming something at me but I couldn't hear their voices. They couldn't do anything. In a flash, the four were suddenly around me, surrounding me with a murderous aura radiating from them. “They can't help you now.”One of them said, and strangely enough, I could make out a gun strapped on his holster. “You should have left when you were told to.”A female voice said, and I could smell the
The First SuspectElowen's POVThankfully, there was no one inside by the time the fire department arrived. We've received the same look the police officers gave us earlier, as if they were blaming us for what happened. Someone even said that our appearance will just cause things to escalate. “The more they try to drive us away, the more I want to stay here and find those mongrels.”Kohen doesn't look angry or frustrated. He looked annoyed and interested at the same time. “Let's find out who's the cat and who are the rats.”He said with a wide grin on his face and we proceeded to the next house. As expected, the woman named Avery refused to entertain us, not because she's suspicious, but because she's probably heard about what happened. “I don't want those people to come at me. Please, I know it's hell around here, but you guys are only making it worse.”She pleaded and I could hear her breathing shakily and whimpering in fear. “Avery, we are here to help.”I tried convincing her,
Searching For the PerpetratorsElowen's POVWe left a traumatized family behind to investigate and search for the owner of the blood. Kohen compensated them for the broken window, but I don't think it's the least of their problems. “You are not to leave my side, do you hear me? Stay where I can see you.”Kohen said firmly as we walked around. ‘As if I will be stupid enough to be on my own.’I answered in my head but nodded instead. “Yes, your highness.”I held onto the strap of the bag I was carrying. It contains all the files of the townspeople that Kohen asked for. I think because we can't gather everyone, he's planning to visit some of them instead. “Well, the thing is, the scent is everywhere. Those fuckers are playing with us.”Jake said, as he was the one tracking the scent. “Good thing they don't know that I've got one of the best trackers in the world, huh?”Kohen smirked and Jake only snorted. Everyone must have already heard what happened because I barely see anyone around
Let's Save This TownElowen's POV Kohen had a scowl on his face when we left to visit the old woman's house and find out more about what's happening in this town. Because it's morning, there are few people walking around and some cars are passing by, probably to go to work. I guess there are fewer crimes in daylight. I saw some children playing outside their home with their parents looking after them. When they saw us, they seemed anxious and hostile. Some even took their children inside. “They are living in fear. Poor them.”I muttered and sighed deeply. “They saw your face and they went running.”Kohen mocked me and I only scoffed at him. I could have sworn I heard Jake chuckling but he had that usual stoic expression on his face when I turned to look at him. “I understand why they are cautious. You said the killers are possibly living among them. Acting like a human, and even probably talking to them.”“This is her house.”Jake said behind us and we stopped in front of a bungal
