Lucas's gaze darkened as the tension in the room thickened. I could see the primal instincts within him wrestle with the idea, a war between his human rationality and his Lycan instincts. His eyes bore into mine, searching for any signs of deception. Fear gripped me with such insteisty that i stumbled and fell on the floor. Lucas stepped back, his eyes darkened as he stared at me.
"Elara, you can't possibly expect me to believe that," he growled, his voice low and dangerous.
I held his intense gaze, determined to make him understand once and for all. "Lucas, I'm not lying to you. When i ran from my first mate, you were the only good thing that had happened to me. This baby is yours because i have never slept with another man other than you. You were my first and only."
He let out a guttural snarl, his claws involuntarily extending from his fingertips. His Lycan form was threatening to take over, and I could see the struggle on his face. It was as though he was battling his own nature, fighting to keep his emotions in check. He acted as if he was in physical pain, and the emerging lycan inside him wasn't a pretty sight. His claws, were three times bigger than an Alpha's, something i often thought was exaggrated during our classes back at the pack.
My heart raced as I took a step back, fearing what his Lycan side might do. I knew that a Lycan is more brutal that a wolf. And now, A Morretti lycan was the tip of the ice berg. They weren't just feared in their Lycan self, but in their human form too. To piss of both Lucas and his Lycan was a death wish. But I couldn't back down now, not when my fate was at stake. Not when there was a chance that he'd keep me here forever. I did not want to be a slave, but if i couldn't save myself, then i sure as hell was going to try and make things better for me.
"Lucas, please," I implored, my voice trembling.
"You may be my mate Elara, but i am not a fool!" His voice, low and strained, echoed through the depths of my soul.
"I wouldn't lie about something like this. I know it's hard to believe, but I can feel it too. Our bond is real. this child is yours. Ours. "
He let out a frustrated roar, and in an instant, his Lycan form overtook him. His eyes turned golden, and his muscles bulged, making him appear even more imposing. His shoulders grew wider, before his limbs extending with a bone cracking noise that made him let a grunt. It was a terrifying transformation, and I couldn't help but take another step back, my heart pounding in my chest. The size of his clwas only seemed to be growing bigger. His fangs protruded, drawing with them a dark pink blood that dropped on the carpeted floor.
Turning around, heart pounding in my chest, i began banging at the door. i was void of words. All i wanted to do was get out of here.
Finally he stood before me, the clothes on his body wripped and barely hanging on. the muscles on his back had doubled in size, yet, his shoulders had broadened in a way that made him thrice his orginal human form. Lucas, now in his Lycan form, advanced toward me with a predatory grace. I was trapped, fear coursing through my veins as he cornered me against the wall. His sharp claws scraped against the surface, leaving deep gouges in their wake.
I let a wailing scream as i sqeezed myself towards the emoty space between his arm and the door. When i got through knowing that the door was not my refuge, I run towards the bathroom. My entire body was shaking, adrenaline pumped inside me as i looked back at him for a split second. Yet, he wasn't there.
Confusion stired within me as i stoped in my tracks and began to double back, yet, the large fingers that wraped at the back of my neck paralyzed me with fear.
"Mate!'' The voice was grunted, deep and hoarse. His loud heavy breath, fanning my neck sent shiver through my body. Not the normal shivers i always got with Lucas, diffrent, scary. Slowly, his footsteps dragged until he stood before me, his hands never leaving my neck, as if afraid i would run again. The truth is that i would, given the chance, i would run and not look back.
Given the chance, i would reject him as my mate and suffer somewhere else. This was not the kind of father i wished on my child. And neither was it the life i wished for myself. I closed my eyes, unable to bear the intensity of his gaze. His eyes had felt like they were buring into me. Golden and glowing, , like the very light of the sun.
Nature had done a number on this one. The moon goddess, made a mistake here. No creature should be this powerful.
But then, instead of attacking, Lucas did something unexpected. He knelt down, pressing one massive hand gently against my abdomen. Panic set inside me as my insticts gathered what he was about to do. And i wasn't going to wait any longer.
"NO!'' I let out a painstricking scream as i wripped myself away from his grip, causing his claws to rattle against the back of my neck painfully, drawing blood. I ran towards the door, and instictively, as if mother nature had heard my cry, they were opened. I ducked down, afraid of knocking head on with the incoming figure.
"Lycan King, PLEASE!'' Joseph, his beta, rushed inside. From the creaked view of the slightly open door, i could see the beast still standing there. Heaving and breathing heavily. I turned to my heel and now run.
Now was the perfect time. If i wanted to escape, I needed to do it now.
There was the sound of breaking furniture from the bedroom, followed by a scream of pain. i hurried down the flight of stairs, fear gripping me.
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?'' Someone gripped my by the hair causing me to stumble back at the bottom of the stairs with a thud.
A woman, seemingly just my age, looked down at my with disdain. "If he's going to kill you, he might as well do it now.''
She gripped the collar of my dress before using it to drag me up with it. I let out a scream of pain, still feeling blood oozing all over my dress but not knowing where it came from.
"MATE!'' The voice sounded all through the large house, and the woman, seemed frozen as she came to a halt before the bedroom door and dropped me at Lucas' feet.
"Master, I have brought the bitch back to...'' Her neck was gripped before her body was pulled up from the floor effortlessly. I was still trying to calm the pounding in my head as i watched them.
Lucas eyes, glowed for a split second, switching from a golden color to a pitch black. In that moment, there was a snapping sound that ripped through the vicinity before a chunk of blood splashed over the walls.
"Alpha NO!'' The screaming sound of a woman from the bottom of the stairs slightly distrcuted me as i turned to look. The high priestess, mouth agape as she stared up at us, continued to stand there, perplexed and staring up at Lucas like she's seen a ghost.
The quick beating of my heart did me no justice, and neither did my stubbornness despite the wolf inside me warning me to just get up and run.
I turned around, and i looked at Lucas. The world around me seemed to halt, i was paralyzed with fear and horror as i looked at him, holding a lifeless body in his hands.
it wasn't just the dead girl that scared me, but it was how brutally he had kiiled her. In his left hand, he held her dangling head, gripped her the hair, blood still dripping, horror still covering her eyes.
The blood painted on the wall certainly stood as a testament to what he had done. He threw the head accross the stairs, watching as it dangled down the staircase and stopped at the high priestess feet. He turned to me, and suddenly my will to run was pumped back into me.
I got up, I turned around, and I run for my dear life.
I encountered locked doors every time I tried to open one. Someone locked the pack house, which was more like a big mansion, from the outside. Beta Joseph and the high priestess were nowhere to be seen anymore. I was alone in this house. Trapped with a monster. Trying to run yet locked inside. In unfamiliar territory, I felt trapped and helpless. Lucas had turned into something I've never seen. All werewolf Alphas tend to have terrible tempers. Yet, even when an Alpha is angry, nothing matches the beastly lycan nature that my mate had. I hid behind the door, trying to calm my breathing. I was dizzy, barely able to see in front of me as I peeped through the hole. I could hear his footsteps, and his scent was in the air, it drew me in like a magnet to metal. He was closing in, and I knew I had to stay hidden until I could figure out how to reason with him. Was it even possible? Could anyone reason with him? My heart was beating quickly and I could hardly keep my mind away from the ide
The world around me was dark. Heavy footsteps kept coming my way as I fought my natural Instinct to run. It was Lucas. he was right there and he was coming for me. I felt frozen, not knowing what to do. And then, right before I run, a sharp light invades my eyes. When I regained consciousness, my surroundings were unfamiliar. the sharp invading rays of the sun invaded my eyes as I opened them. The scent of a clean pair of sheets caught me offgaurd. I had slept on tree branches and grass over the last weeks that I'd not fully realized where I was or who I was with. I sat up from the bed and looked around. I was dizzy, like I'd hit my head or something. I slowly sat up in the strange bed, I wasn't sure what to think. On one hand I might be in danger. What if he caught me? What if he’d let his Lycan beast kill me? Is this hell? As my eyes adjusted to the surroundings, I noticed Lucas in a chair by my bedside. He fixed his gaze on me. His once-wild eyes were now back to their sharp
"The thing about a Lycan's claw, or their teeth, is that the damage they leave slows down the supernatural healing process of any wolf, and hieghtens the pain.'' Doctor Aisha explained, as she applied some ointment on neck before putting the bandages back on. "Does it ever kill?'' I asked, meeting her eyes for only a split second. She picked up her kit, looking through it before she picked up a scissors. "Yes it does, but not a mate.'' "What?'' I asked, tilting my head as she trimmed the bandage. She hesitated for a moment, her senses became alert, before she hurriedly got down from the bed. Suddenly i caught scent of Lucas, and the wolf inside me was excited. The large doors to our bedroom were opened from the outside, and Lucas walked in, looking as hot and glorious as ever. I swallowed loudly, trying to tear my eyes from that tonned body. Lucas made me think sinfully. Any normal thing he did would often be turned to something sexual in my mind. What the hell was wrong with
"You..You're, You're the Lycan King's sister?'' I stuttered, suddenly feeling a wave of fear take over me. "Yeah. I don;t get why he did not tell you i was coming. I was to come weeks ago but he said he hasn't found you yet.'' "Found me?'' I asked as we shook hands, meeting her eyes for a brief second. The resemblance in them however was not same. She did not have Lucas' eyes. I'd seen her eyes somewhere. I just couldn't put my finger on it. "Yeah, after you guys fucked he said you ran.'' She said effortlessly. "You're the first girl who's ever not asked for more or begged my brother to stay. You actually run from him.'' I was not sure what i was suppost to say. And talking about intimate moments with my mate's sister did not sound too good. I wasn't even comfortable talking about sex with Lucas himself, even though it was the only thing he thought about. "It's nice to meet you Sabrina.'' I let out as i smiled poilitely. She moved back to seat on the bed space beside me, she
Lucas had arrived about an hour ago, yet he'd not even come up the stairs to see me, I did not know what was wrong with me. But i missed hm. I wanted to see him. To touch him, To kiss him. After my encounter with Sabrina, i was nervous about the rest of the Morreti family. I needed all the cards on the table. Everything i needed to know about my mate's family and their traditions. Why was it such a big deal for Sabrina when she discovered Lucas was yet to mark me. It was rather confusing. However, the last words she said to me make my stomach churn. "You don't deserve my brother Elara Moore. You deserve to die before the thing in your womb sees the light of day.'' The words sounded in my heard like a resilient gong. All my life, i had grown accustomed to threats, insults and words if degradation and heartbreak. Yet, why was it so difficult for me to take this? Was it because i had another person to defend and protect? A helpless person? My child. Her life growing inside me al
No one, not a single person in the world like the thought of being insulted. Especially not when it comes from the people we grow accustomed to. My mate had not insulted me. The truth is that I was indeed weak. "Elara!'' Lucas voice sounded in the room the minute my doors were open again. He walked in before having the guards close it. "What?'' I asked, clenching my fist. "My sister tells me you two met.'' "Is that a question or a statement!'' I answered, meeting his eyes in defiance. His gaze grew darker as he walked towards me. I decided not to give him the advantage, and i stepped off the bed and down the the floor. My hieght compared to him was relatively short, and it made me look up at him like a thing stuck on the ceiling. "Don't take that tone with me!'' His command was swift as he looked down at me. He brought his fingers towards my neck, and i snapped them away. "You don't get to match back here and act like everything is okay. You're not a fucking child. Stop throwing
I've always heard that mates are able to connect telepathicly. In a way that needs no words or actions. No eye contact necessarily. I always thought it was crap. It did not make sense, and no one ever talked about it. Even the mated wolves. Over time, it is believed that this ability died when the moon godess dissapeared and left a high priestess as a messnger. Alot of things are believed to have been gone when the moon godess went missing. More than a thousand years ago, she walked among the wolves. It was only a century after we were all created. Wolvs began to exist only two thousand years ago. And for a thousand years, the moon godess lived with the wolves and blessed our lands. When she dissapeared, chaos errupted, visions and curses were placed on werewolves and the worst beast known to us came to existence: the lycans. Till date, alot of the information known to us wolves about lycans is speculated. No one has met one and lived to tell the tale. For five hundred years, the
A sombre mood arrested the vicinity, a heavy blanket of horror and fear covered the atmosphere. The room was tense, cottoned with a sense of suffocation. Sabrina, though I had not known her well enough, did not deserve to die the way she did. Certainly not because of me. "What is wrong with you?'' I spoke slowly, tears cascading down my cheeks as I looked at him, his back still facing me. His parents were still standing across the entrance, his mom, sobbing quietly as Lucas' father held her. "How could you be such a monster?'' I shouted, fist clenched as I moved forward. I watched as his back tensed, his shoulders clenching before he slowly turned to face me. This time, despite the overwhelming fear I had for him, my anger and disgust for what he had done and who he was compelled me to speak up. "I told her,'' he said, quivering his head. "She did not listen.'' "She is your sister!'' I spoke, feeling the guilt choke me. I have no family, no one to call a loved one. I have not b
