BITTERSWEET PART 3: ARMATA AND CALISTA

After the revealing conversation with Levi on the beach, I can’t shake off the feeling of foolishness for jumping to conclusions. His confession about his past and his wife as well as his brother's deceased wife added layers to his character I hadn’t seen before.

But his mention of my father piqued my curiosity, tinged with a hint of unease.

We arrive home, and without a word, Levi leads me straight to my father’s office. The air is heavy with anticipation and a bit of apprehension as I follow him inside.

My father looks up from his desk, his expression serious. “Calista, Levi,” he greets us. “I’m glad you’re here. We have much to discuss.”

Levi nods towards me, then addresses my father. “Alpha, it’s time Calista knew about your plans, about what you’ve proposed.”

I feel a surge of confusion. “Plans? What are you talking about?”

My father’s gaze meets mine, filled with a mixture of affection and solemnity. “What I’m about to say is for your own good, for your safety.”
