Ford’s POV

"Well,” Fabian said dryly, leaning against the doorframe of my room. “That is a mess."

I looked up from where I was currently holding Maverick by the back of his shirt collar before he could sprint away again. My son was straining like a leashed wolf pup, his face flushed with a manic, joyous energy.

In my other hand were the broken remains of my side table.

My very expensive side table.

My son had been in our suite for less than thirty seconds, and he had started destroying things.

  • The Lycan Twins Runaway Mate   CHAPTER 34: DENIAL

Ford’s POVThe heavy oak doors of the Alpha suite slammed shut, cutting off the distant, joyous sound of Maverick’s voice from the courtyard below. The silence of the room hit me like a physical blow. I stumbled forward, my hands shaking so violently I could barely untie the remnants of my charcoal blazer. I threw the ruined fabric onto the floor, my chest heaving as the phantom scent of lilies and sharp ozone flooded my memory again.I cheated on her.The thought was a jagged piece of glass twisting in my brain. I reached up, gripping my dark hair with both hands, pulling until the roots burned, trying to force the static out of my head. I walked toward the full-length mirror, staring at my reflection, but all I could see was the pale, beautiful face of the blonde woman from five years ago. The woman Keren had screamed about. The woman I had sworn didn't exist.I slammed my forehead against the heavy wood of the bedroom wall, the solid thud vibrating through my skull."Stop it!" Fabi

  • The Lycan Twins Runaway Mate   CHAPTER 33: THE WALLS WE BUILD

Keren’s POVThe tension in the central courtyard was thick enough to choke on. The pack guards stood paralyzed, their hands resting on their sidearms, eyes darting between the torn clothes of the twins and the cold fury on my face."Everyone back to your posts," Ford suddenly ordered, his voice cracking out across the cobblestones. It wasn't his usual booming Alpha tone, it was tight, compressed, and absolute. "Leave us. Now."The staff and warriors scrambled, disappearing into the corridors of the main compound until the courtyard was entirely empty, save for Irene, who stood a few feet back with her hands shoved nervously into her pockets.I didn't care about the guards. I didn't care about the rules. The anger that had been simmering in my chest since I found Maverick in the playroom completely evaporated, replaced by a cold, leaden weight of worry.I stepped forward, my shoes clicking sharply against the stone, and stopped right in front of Ford. For the first time since I had ret

  • The Lycan Twins Runaway Mate   CHAPTER 32: THE CRACKS IN THE ARMOR

Keren’s POVWe locked up the auxiliary facility and stepped out into the crisp Montana afternoon air, walking back toward the central compound."By the way," Irene said, breaking the comfortable silence. "About your son... I still haven't officially met him yet. I would really love to see the little guy.""Of course," I smiled, the cold weight in my chest lifting slightly at the mention of my boy. "Let's go get him. I think he is currently with his father."Irene smiled softly, looking at me sideways. "That's good. He's spending time with his dad. That is really healthy for him, Keren."I shrugged, keeping my eyes fixed on the path ahead. "Well, I can't deny them a relationship just because I am angry with Ford. It wouldn't be right to use Maverick as a weapon."Irene hesitated for a moment, then lowered her voice. "What about his powers? Is it true?"I froze for a split second, my forensic instincts immediately putting up a shield. "Powers? What powers are you talking about?""Come o

  • The Lycan Twins Runaway Mate   CHAPTER 31: COLD COMFORT

Keren’s POV"Keren, what’s your answer?" Irene asked, her voice barely a whisper, her hands trembling as she adjusted her lab coat. She looked at me with wide, anxious eyes. "We should tell the alphas?"“This is a terrible situation.”I leaned against the metal counter in Irene’s lab, staring at the tiny glass vial sitting between us beneath the fluorescent light. The strange silver-blue liquid inside shimmered unnaturally whenever it moved, almost like it was alive.“I know,” I muttered.“No, seriously, Keren, this is how horror movies start.” Irene pointed accusingly at the vial. “Mysterious glowing substance stolen from suspicious people in the kitchen? This is literally the beginning of somebody dying horribly.”Despite everything, a tired laugh escaped me.The laugh disappeared quickly and we both stared at vial sitting there between us like a loaded gun.I crossed my arms tightly. “We can’t tell the alphas.”Irene blinked at me immediately. “What?”“We can’t.”“Keren—”“No.” I s

  • The Lycan Twins Runaway Mate   CHAPTER 30: SHOCKING REALIZATIONS

Fabian's POVI stared at my twin brother in shock as he came at me again without hesitation. What alarmed me the most was the fact that there was no emotion or recognition on his face at all. Just brutal, mechanical violence.I ducked another slash and drove my shoulder into his stomach, tackling him backwards into the dirt.Instead of staying down, Ford twisted beneath me violently and punched me across the jaw hard enough to split my lip.Stars burst across my vision. And before I could shake it off, claws raked down my side.Hot pain tore through me.I snarled. Fuck, I couldn’t use my full stre

  • The Lycan Twins Runaway Mate   CHAPTER 29: THE THING IN THE WOODS

Fabian’s POVI gripped Ford’s shoulder, my fingers digging into the expensive fabric of his blazer, and hauled him around."Ford! Talk to me!" He didn't blink. His face was a mask of cold, smooth porcelain. The brother I had grown up with, the man who always had a sharp retort or a calculated plan, was gone. In his place was a vessel. His eyes were wide and fixed on something over my shoulder, something I couldn't see and couldn't smell."Ford!" I roared, and this time, I didn't hesitate. I pulled my hand back and delivered a sharp, stinging slap across his face. The crack echoed through the quiet woods.Ford’s head snapped to the side. He stood frozen for a heartbeat, and then slowly, his eyes began to focus. He blinked, a robotic, jerky movement."Fabian?" His voice was thin, like a recording played from a distance. "I... I did not see you there."There was no anger about me hitting him. No sarcastic comment about me yelling in his ear.Nothing.A cold sensation crawled down my sp
