Emilia's POV

“ Mate “ my wolf jumped in excitement in my head as she felt a deeper connection between us.

“ This can't be right” I hummed to my wolf because I already had a boyfriend, a mate who was enrolled in the school.

“ How can this be? “ That was the question lingering in my mind as our eyes met but he didn't feel the bond between us.

As long as I drink that potion, he will never know I'm his mate.”I reminded myself, recalling the bitter taste of the vial my mother had forced me to swallow, the liquid cloaking my scent, portraying me as a human.

“ Have you had enough?” A sharp, deep voice cut through the room, stepping forward. He had black curly hair,  his dark eyebrows and eyelashes framed his eyes walking towards us with cold authority.

I locked my jaw to keep it from tumbling at the sight of this man.

“Watch yourself, wizard, you are in my territory, “ Wesley warned, his voice thundering across the room as his anger mounted.

Silence washed over the room.

“Territory? You can't be dead serious about it, right? “A scowl covered his face as he spat at Wesley.

“ Who is he ?” My heart raced as he stared keenly into my eyes,  his scent smelled like mulberry and chocolate.

My heart skipped a beat.

I stood frozen between the two of them, tension cracking in the air. The stranger stared at me adding to my nervousness with his unwavering gaze.

I  swallowed hard, my face became white while he furrowed his brows at me.

I squinted my eyes standing between the two of them.

My gaze landed on his blazer, a family crest embroidered on his chest, which held the school logo firmly in place.

Memories flooded my head while gazing intensely at the heirloom, which shone brightly like diamonds that struck me like thunder.

My head spun.

“Wait, he is a Dawson, the most powerful wizard family” My eyes widened as I struggled to fight the knots in my tummy.

The Dawsons were the most powerful wizard family in existence, the one I had read ancient texts about, and their history was widely known.

“Are you suggesting I just stand by and let you bully the new girl?” he said in his deep voice dripping with mockery leaving me unable to speak with a smirk on his face.

“Don't act like you have ever been on the side of a justice wizard boy. How ridiculous ?” Wesley sneered, his facee filled with hatred.

I was caught up in between the two of them, a wolf and a wizard, both dangerous, their stares piercing like daggers.

“It's my problem “ I muttered in a broken tone, my voice barely a whisper trying to separate them from the growing feud.

“No, it's not true, these wolves must have scared the crap out of you.” Liam's voice softened, his face contorting in anger, as he patted my shoulders.

His presence was commanding but the air around him felt different, no wolf but a magnificent aura emanated from him.

“Come on, let me show you around the school, “ he said warmly, shooting Wesley an angry glare.

I stared at him defiantly, but the hair on my neck stood, and I could feel all eyes on me  as I followed the wizard out.

He took me round the school and this school was more than a city of knowledge, it was a palace.

When we were done, he helped me settle into my classroom.

“Guess it's time to say goodbye, I'm not as rude as some of the werewolves, but if you ever need me, you know where to find me, ”he said with a grin. His voice was soft with warmth radiating all over me.

“Thank you, Liam, it was really nice to have you helping me out,“ I offered my sincere gratitude, and his face beamed with smiles before he walked to his seat leaving a faint trace of his scent.

“The newbie has already found herself a new guy, “Whispers erupted from my classmates like wildfire the moment I slid onto my chair, resting on my back.

I tilted my head back and my breath hitched when I found Wesley sitting right behind me.

“What the hell ?“My heart pounded fast, as I stretched my hand into my bag reaching for my books.

Before I could say anything the classroom door swung open and the teacher entered. She was a middle-aged lady with a commanding presence.

“Emiliana, are you even listening? “ she snapped me out of my thoughts, who was staring outside with many things popping in my mind.

“ Yes, “ I replied quickly.

“Yes we are discussing Shakespeare, name

One of his plays besides Romeo and Juliet, " she threw the question at me directly.

“Oh no, do we have to loan the new girl a book? “ Chloe asked scornfully.

A  cruel smile spread on her lips and the whole class burst into laughter.

I felt my blood boil with rage but I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of making me a jest.

“Taming of the shrew, Macbeth, Hamlet, “ I answered, and the whole class gasped.

“I didn't take you for the type to forget your own history, Chloe.” I turned to her with a smirk playing on my lips, my words sinking deep into her flesh.

Chloe's face turned pale as she gritted her teeth, clenching her fists hard.

Wesley's lips twitched with amusement watching Chloe suffer humiliation at my hand.

“Good one” he whispered in a slow breath.

“Thanks” I replied, resisting the urge to have eye contact with him.

As the bell rang signalling the closing time, I let out a heavy sigh.

I stood up, going to my locker when Mila suddenly slammed into me, scattering my books all over the ground.

Mila was Chloe's closest friend who  had always harbored grudges against me because she thought I was just a lowly human.

“ Can't you see? Watch where you are going, Mila, “ I snapped at her, kneeling to pick them up.

“Aren't you going to help?” My gaze fell on her, but she remained unbothered, crossing her arms and looking straight into my eyes.

“Oh, so defect Emilia can actually talk. Talk to me again when you can actually shift. I only speak to real wolves,” her voice cut through me like iron.

I clenched my chest painfully.

"Mila, stop that!” a voice yelled, and I tilted my head to check who it was.

I turned and froze.

It was Darian, my boyfriend, the only man I had ever loved.

Darian was my boyfriend, the only one who had always treasured me more than anything else.

“Be nice, Mila. I'm sorry, Darian. I promise to be a good girl and behave, “ she mumbled, placing her hands on Darian's chest.

Something climbed up my skin as their eyes met..

“I'm not the Alpha just yet, our relationship won't be official until the winter solstice celebration tonight, “he informed me.

My chest pounded in excitement, hearing the information.

“And I will see you tonight then, “ he said, his lips curled into a smile, waving his hands at her.

“ Welcome, Emilia, your dream is finally kicking off, “ he stated, pulling me into his warm embrace.

“Thank you, your school time is off to a great start as you can see, “ I replied, arranging my books in my locker.

“Well, tonight will be special. That's a promise from the future alpha, “ he whispered, brushing through my ear, sending a wave of electricity through me.
