Derek POV:
I stand in shock, wondering if she had actually just yell at me. I have never been treated the way she just treated me and somehow it feels weird. I feel like a child who is scolded by an adult.
Darren chuckles loudly behind me.
"What's so funny Darren?" I ask with my palms up.
"I'm sorry Derek, but I can't just help laughing. Somehow, I think you deserved that."
"And why, Darren?"
"She was your would-be Luna. You both almost got married, I wonder why you are giving her the cold shoulders..."
"Emphasis on the WAS. I only agreed to the marriage because her uncle proposed it.."
"You could have rejected it, but you didn't, meaning you like her.."
"No, I certainly do not!" I reply, too quickly, betraying my emotions.
Darren finds it easy detecting my feelings, we've been friends, right from childhood. His father was my father's Beta.
"Are you sure about that Derek? Because I do not believe that. You've spend years dreaming about this particular woman, you literally saw her in your dreams every night. You believe her to be the remedy the wolf clan need...."
"Okay. I was wrong Darren. She's just ordinary, like every other she-wolfs I've dated!" I defend, avoiding my Beta's glare.
"You picked that dress for her yourself. You even ordered that her prison cell be warmed up last night. And now, you're having your own personal doctor treat her?"
"I am only trying to maintain balance. To keep the pack save from threat, Darren!"
"Picking her a dress wasn't your duty to the pack", Darren says, his hands crossed, smirking. "It's more like a personal duty. And you even drooled at her. You stared when she walked in! Luckily, you were able to divert your eyes to the empty folder on your desk, so you won't be caught". Darren picks up the empty folders, laughing.
"Just like I always pretend with other girls.!"
"You are never like this with other girls Derek! She's beautiful, smart and....."
"And very stubborn." I complete, cutting him short.
Darren gives a short laughter, saying.
"You asked for that part of her Derek. You were literally frustrating the poor lady."
"Okay. Let's change discussion Darren.!" I say, drawing(hissing)in air nosily. He's caught me red handed.
"Okay Alpha", Darren replies playfully.
"Derek, you know she's saying the truth right? All investigation shows that they were actually murdered, just like the mountain pack months ago. And the crime scene is fabricated to make it look like a suicide scene. But traces of sliver where found here and there, and some of the broken glass found at the scene is confirmed by doctor Dathan to contain wolfsbane".
"I know. She also said she saw crescent Dagger. And there is only one clan who wield such..." I say thoughtfully.
"The children of Shanti..!" we chorus.
"We have all the evidence we need Derek. The witch clan are responsible for the deaths."
"We can't just conclude. We need more evidence Darren. And we'll start by knowing how she survived the wolfsbane and how she managed to block out my connection to her mind." I reply, absent-mindedly, pointing my fingers to the air, thinking.
"Block out your connection?! Nobody can do that except an Alpha.." Darren says, shock.
"Exactly what makes it weird. And the strength with which she spun me around earlier, is unbelievable. There's something not quite right about her."
"I agree." Darren says, nodding his head.
" We'll deal with that later. First, go find out what the witch clan are up too." I order.
"Alright Alpha."
"One more thing Darren. I want it kept from her that I was her suitor. Till I'm sure she's not a threat. And be careful out there."
"Okay". Darren nods and left.
Once Darren is gone. I pace restlessly .
"Why would her eyes changed to a searing blue, if truthfully this was her first time of hurting someone?"
"How did she manage to block out my connection to her mind?" "What were the children of Shanti after?"
True, I had dreamt several times over the years, of a woman of her description bringing redemption to the son's of Lycan. But the prophecy said she is to be an Hybrid and there is nothing hybrid about this Alessia!
"At least nothing I see!! "I say aloud to myself.
"Alessia!" The name roll off my lips and I frown.
"It's a beautiful name, for a Luna." My wolf whines.
"Are you kidding me right now, Mason!" I say aloud to my wolf. "You sure have horrible taste in girls!".
I sit back to my desk. Having a lot of pack duties to attend too, I pick up a file gingerly and got to work.
Derek’s POV: Two Moons LaterI sit in my office, eyes skimming over pack duties, barely focused. The weight of the past few weeks presses down like stone—battle councils, alliances, endless rebuilding.Just as I’m about to call it a night, the door bursts open.Darren barrels in, panting like he outran a storm.“What in the gods’ name are you breathlessly here for, Darren?” I groan. “If this is about another event, I swear I’m done attending anything for the rest of the month.”He cuts me off. “The Luna—”I blink. “What about Alessia? Is she throwing another—”“She’s in labor!” he blurts.I freeze. “What?”“The baby is coming, Derek!” he shouts.I
Third Person POV:Raven’s golden eyes blazes as she squared off with Ryel, lightning crackling faintly at her fingertips."Is this how you treat the one who raised you?" Ryel snarls."You killed her!" she screams. "You killed Olivia!"Ryel only laughs, dark and hollow. "No, Raven. I saved her. Her essence was a worthy sacrifice for this cause. She was chosen. History will remember her as part of a rebirth that transcends death."Raven’s face twists in fury. "You sick, delusional psychopath. I’m going to kill you."She lunges.Alessia moves to help, but Cyre grabs her arm. "No. This is her fight. We have to trust her. Meanwhile, the veil—" she points to the seething rift behind Ryel, light bleeding from it, pulling reality inward. "We need to close it. If it stays open much longer, it’ll consume the world."
Derek's POV:I walk ahead towards my office, my jaw taut, beneath my silence is fury. Alessia and Darren, just behind match my pace. We don't speak until we reach the office, and even then, it's the heavy this of the door closing that breaks the tension.Raven is already there. She stands near the window, arms crossed, hood down. Her fox ears twitches once in greeting, or warning - I can't tell. She turns slowly, and her eyes - still unnervingly gold - land on me first, then Alessia."You tortured her," she says flatly. No judgement. Just a fact laid bare."She warned it," I reply. "And she still didn't talk."Raven's gaze lingers on Alessia. "But you got close. She's shaken. That matters."I step forward. "Why are you here, Raven? You weren't supposed to leave your tent, the wings given to you for the duration of you
Alessia POV:The guards obey swiftly, dragging Mathilda forward. Her feet stumbles, but her head remains high - chin lifted, mouth tight line of disdain as they strap her arms and legs to the reinforced silver-inlaid chair.Mathilda's blind eyes - if they are truly blind - don't blink when the chains snap shut."I see you still enjoy your theatrics, Alpha," she says dryly, her voice cool and gravelly. "Or has fear made you a showman now?"Darren glances at Derek, waiting for a signal. He gives none.Instead, he steps forward until he's few inches away from her."Spare me the performance," he growls. "You've danced behind your veil long enough. We're done playing nice."Her lip twitches. "Ah, so we've moved to threats.""No. Truths." He nods towards the table behind Darren, where the tools lie neat
Raven's POV:Long after Cyre left. I sit with the book, fingers twitching at the edges of the pages trying hard to read it. But I can't. The text ripples in front of me any time I try to.I blink. Again.Nothing.I sigh. What the hell is wrong with me? I mutter, shutting the book with more force than necessary. The wind shifts. And then I smell it.That scent. Familiar - sharp like burned safe, laced with crushed petals. It's hers.Olivia.Along with it, there's a scent that doesn't belong.I rise slowly, scanning the treeline from the edge of the den's eastern garden. The moon casts pale shards through the forest canopy - and then I see it.A cloaked figure. Moving swiftly among the trees."What the hell - ?"
Olivia's POV:I shouldn't be here. The corridor is dim, tucked just behind one of the carved alcoves in the East Wing. I come looking for the young man I'd a one night stand with. I'm in heat and could do with a nice, steamy, hot sex to cool off my nerves. But I can't move. Not after what I'm seeing. Two guards. One frail looking woman between them. They're dragging her - no, not roughly, but not gently either - they reek of secrecy. And that moment, as the light hits her face just right, I see her. She's not just some prisoner. She's the blind old seer. The one who foresaw Ryel as the Lycan and ultimate ruler of the world. The one who whispered. "Greenwoods must fall for you to rise to the position of Lycan."I freeze, pressing my back against the wall so hard it hurts.
