“Sleep well, your highness” I mumbled as I reached for his forehead. I hesitated a bit, wondering if I should do it or not but then I told myself I was only caring for the sick.

His skin did not feel hot to the touch…it was a bit less hot than before not completely normal.

I let out a huff and walked back to my room to get the book I had retrieved from the library earlier.

As I entered the prince's room, my heart sank at the sight of him lying in the bed, his face flushed and his breathing labored. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for the long night ahead.

Seeing Jasper in such a way drove all the sleep out of my eyes. I walked back into his room and shut the doors.

Pulling a chair close, I placed the book on my lap and thought of reading a bit. My gaze flicked to Jasper who seemed to have mumbled something in his sleep.

I looked at him but he just fell silent again.
