Every bad situation will have something positive. Even a dead clock shows the correct time twice a day.

With a darkened expression, Grant stared at his beta for a while without uttering a word. His mind was a wandering mess.

“The seer?” Grant asked, and Leornado gave him a look with his brows raised. “Where is she?” He asked, rising to his feet. Without waiting for Leornado. He marched for the door, and Leornado had to run after him due to his long and fast strides.

If there was one thing that they all knew was that the woman's words, though always twisted and probably exactly on point, she was never truly wrong. Whatever she saw, there must be some truth to it. He knew something major was about to transpire.

“She is in her tower, your Majesty,” Leornado replied, finally able to match Grant's pace.

Grant didn't speak after hearing that and rather increased his pace. The maids and guards they came across bowed respectfully to the alpha king, but he didn't acknowledge any as his mind was solely focused on what he would be hearing soon.

In a matter of minutes, Grant and Leonardo were standing in front of the door of the said seer. Leonardo opened the door, and Grant walked in even without knocking.

“Your Majesty,” the woman who seemed to have been expecting his presence rose to her feet and greeted with a respectful bow which was only replied to with a curt nod and a hum.

“What did you see this time, Calista?” Grant asked immediately. He walked over to the tower's window where he could see the rest of the castle. The servants were already up and about to prepare for the day even though the sun was yet to rise.

Leonardo and Calista came to stand on either side of him, also staring out the window.

“Trouble, your Majesty. I see trouble,” she began, casting a glance at Grant, who also briefly glanced at her, and their eyes met for a fleeting second. “Somewhere in the east, something out of the ordinary would happen. Creatures unlike any we have ever seen will appear,” she continued, and Grant frowned. “Many will be lost to this unknown threat.

The east was quite far, and there were numerous packs there. Would they all be affected by whatever this attack would be?

“narrow down the place, Calista,” he said. His voice and demeanor were much calmer than either of the two had anticipated.

Did he already anticipate something like this? They thought but knew there was no way that could have been possible.

“Forgive me, Alpha,” she said, and Grant's expression hardened as he realized what that meant by that. Feeling the shift in the king’s aura, she lowered her head till her chin touched her chest.

“What else should we know about this?” Leonardo stepped in, knowing Grant was now in a foul mood.

“A few days from now. I can't tell when either—I am sorry,” she felt helpless here, but she also knew she had said all that she knew. Her vision came in vague images without any clarity. It was all up to her to piece the fragments together to get something decent and present it as a warning.

A feral growled wrapped from the man in the middle, and the other two bowed in submission. Both fell on their knees and showed their necks. They had managed to catch a glimpse of Grant's eyed thay had suddenly turned blood red, and that was not a good sign.

For someone who had been antsy lately, this news must have pricked all the wrong nerves.

His calm earlier now made sense. It was Grant trying to rein over his beast, but it appeared he was losing now.

[Alpha, please calm down. We need to find a solution to this]

Leirnado tried to reach him through the mind link, but he received a growl that silenced him and also left him shrinking lower due to the direct impact of the alpha directed at him.

[“Alpha, please,” ] he pleaded.

Something seemed to snap within Grant as he took control again and then rein in his aura. He knew it wasn't only Leornado who felt it but every shifter within the castle walls, and he didn't want to torture his people without a reason. But lately, his control was slipping off his fingers.

“Prepare for departure at the first ray of the sun light,” he said, directing his words to Leornado, who sighed in relief, knowing alpha beast had retreated.

“Understood, Alpha,” he replied but still didn't rise to his feet until he headed to the door close behind them. Calista and him shared a look, and both sighed in relief before standing up.

“Save travels, Beta, Leo,” Calista said even before Leorna ciuod asked her to go with them. Leornado could only look at her and sigh.

Meanwhile, Grant returned to his bed chamber, pacing back and forth as he tried to gain full control of his wolf, but the damned beast just wouldn't submit. It had always been cooperative, so what was wrong this time around?

He could feel his canines fighting to grow, and the that was sparsely spreading all over his body.

“Shit!” he cursed as he clenched his fist but regretted it immediately as his claws stabbed into his palm, drawing blood.

Grant felt his beast demanding to be let out, but he couldn't. He knew just what his beast was capable of doing when allowed to run rampant. Unlike him, his beast still maintained his primitive, primal instincts, and that was to dominate. Brute force. was his way. He could cause more harm to the kingdom than good. That is unless there was a target to take it out on, but right now, a target was the one thing they didn't have, so anyone and everyone they came across would become a target.

“Maybe a run is what you need. It's cold and windy. It might help. Your beast hasn't been let out in a long time,” Leornado, who had just come in, said. He flinched and took a cautious step back when he saw the king’s red eyes staring at him and the protruding fangs that seemed ready to pounce.

  • The Lycan's Possession    Why so quiet now?

Meanwhile, inside the council chamber, tension hung thick in the air—growing steadily, refusing to ease. The silence was suffocating, heavy like a boulder pressing down on everyone in the room. Each alpha sat at the long, rectangular table, their betas positioned beside them. All except Alpha Dane, whose beta was notably absent. And then there was the Alpha King’s seat—empty, with only his royal beta present in his place.Several other seats were filled by council members personally chosen by the king or by former pack alphas who still lived and now served as his advisors. The remaining chairs were occupied by Lyrria’s army generals. All eyes scanned the room, glancing at one another in silent anticipation. They waited—for someone to speak for someone to break the ice. But no one did. Instead, their gazes slowly shifted to Leonardo. As the king’s righ

  • The Lycan's Possession    Whose mate?

He moved swiftly through the halls, his footsteps light as he tracked the lingering scent Dawson had left behind, taking care not to draw any attention. But then, unexpectedly, his slumbering beast stirred.Grimes came to a sudden stop, a furrow forming between his brows as his senses sharpened. He peered ahead but saw no one—yet there was a presence. Heavy. Unseen, but unmistakably close.Who could they be? Grimes questioned inwardly. He’d passed plenty of shifters on his way—both werewolves and lycans—but his beast hadn’t reacted to any of them, as if they were insignificant. It had remained asleep… until now.Can you sense who it is? he asked the beast within, but there was only silence. Seconds ticked by. His frown deepened. “Are you going to answer me or not?” he muttered irritably.A low, warning growl was his only response.Exhaling, he steeled himself. Whoever lay ahead, he would meet them soon enough.‘Do not provoke them,’ came a gravelly voice.Grimes almost stumbled. The vo

Failing to sense the impending danger that loomed over him, Dawson shrugged the pain and glared at the bodyguard. Then he looked up at Grant, his gaze cold and defiant.“My mate. I have come to take her back. You had no right to take her away just because she is a Hawthorne,” He said with so much confidence that if Grant did not know any better, he would have doubted himself if he was truly Esme's fated mate.He found it laughable that Dawson was so bold as to claim Esme as his mate. But Grant may have thought it laughable. The same couldn't be said for his beast, who was raging inside him. Wanting to tear Dawson to pieces for claiming their mate as his own. He let out a guttural growl that instantly petrified everyone who heard it, including Dawson himself. The guards who heard Dawson's claim looked at him in pity. Was he a fool, or was he not afraid of death?Of all the lines he could have said, of all the lies he could have told, why was it a claim on the alpha's mate? The king's m

“Make sure you tell your son to know his place if he doesn't want to leave here as a cripple,” he warned before he advanced forward again. Dane and Grimes halted at that. Dane's fists clenched at his sides, but he said nothing. Reining in his rage, he moved in silence following behind Leonardo. He cast a glance at his beta, but the man remained placid as always. If this was any other time, he would commend him for his stoic countenance, but this time, Grimes’ lack of reaction rubbed off the wrong way.Grimes halted, feeling the hostility directed at him. He stared at Dane's back for a few seconds before he continued following behind him, still without any reaction.Leonardo keenly observed their dynamics and couldn't help thinking that their relationship was not as smooth as everyone thought it was. But it was nothing of surprise. Grimes was silent and as still as an ocean. And just like the ocean, you never know what monsters roam underneath its depth. You can only see the demons t

There was a little silence between them. As the silence dragged, Esme started fidgeting, and the thoughts of him not answering crossed her mind, but she was quick to push it to the back of her mind. He had promised and said it so clearly that he believed her, so there was no need to doubt him either.“Yes, they are aware,” Grant finally spoke, and she whipped her head to look at him. He smiled and then continued, “Before they were allowed to settle here, they took an oath. Whatever happens in Lyrria stays in Lyrria. They don't leave Lyrria without permission and supervision either. They haven't broken that oath so far.”Esme blinked, not expecting that answer. Why would anyone agree to such terms? He chuckled, placing his hand on her hair. He ruffled it a bit. “Don't be so surprised, my love. We are not heartless people. And the humans help us maintain the balance. It wouldn't be right if only the indigenous people lived in a country. Having them here clears all the doubts the world

  • The Lycan's Possession    No Reason

Grant just stared at his mate, unsure of how to react to that. A second ago, she said something of high importance, then the next, she was saying to forget everything?!But when he saw the expression in her eyes along with what she said about no one believing her, he came to understand her reason for asking him to forget what she said.“Esmeralda,” he called, his tone gentle and calm. He cupped her face while she tried to look away, but he didn't allow her. She barely looked him in the eyes, and now she was completely refusing to. “Look at me, Esme,” his tone even gentler now. Esme closed her eyes with face looking the other way. Grant took a deep breath and pulled her closer. “I believe you,” he whispered, his warm breath tickling her neck in a feathery sensation.Esme's breath caught at his unexpected words, and she stilled.“I have no doubt about anything that you have said, and I would like to hear more about it. If you'd like to shed more light on it, that is,” he added.Esme sl
