"You need to get married" My father, the former don of the Bratva said to me "quickly". I have just taken over as the leader of the bratva from my father. "Why should I?" I asked him. "You know why,you need to get all of the syndicate on your side after what you pulled at the Bovanno marriage, most of them are hesitant to accept you as the Don" He said to me. "You could have dealt with him later by the way,out of preying eyes "he said. "He challenged my authority and I had let them all know what happens when my authority is being questioned " I told him. "Fine, but, you do need to get married for things to go on smoothly"He said to me. "I don't,if they are not going to accept me as their new Don,I just have to make an example of one of them" I said. "No,you are not going to do that "He said assertively. I did not know my parents well as a child but I look up to them especially my father as a Don. And I know that when he uses that tone,he is not going to change his mind. "Fine" I said to him. "Good, and you will be getting married"He said to me. "Okay,I will "I told him. "But I will choose who I will marry "I told him firmly. "Why do you care, you don't even want to get married" he said. "Maybe I do" I said to him. "Ohhhhhh,I didn't know" He said excitedly. "So who do you want to marry?".He asked. "I will marry Edward Nevarro daughter " I told him. I saw her at the Bovanno and Lucchese party. I was at a corner in the room eager to leave when I saw a woman walk into the party in a red dress, my eyes could not help but move with her as she walks in,totally captivated by the way she moved through the crowd. Moments later, Edward Nevarro approach her and started introducing her to powerful figures at the party, she looked like she didn't want to be there. I could tell he wanted to marry her off. I could not stop thinking what I would do to her if she were mine, how her perfect lips would fit into mine, how her mouth would be wrapped around my dick. I made a decision there and then to own her. "Wow,I didn't know you knew his daughters before" he said jolting me back to the present. "I saw her at the Bovanno and Lucchese ceremony" I told him. "Ok then,I will arrange a meeting with her father" My father said. "But let me ask you, since it seems like you have already decided to marry her even before I asked you,why her?". He asked curiously. "She seems like the perfect wife to me,she was calm throughout the whole evening even after what had happened, that is who I need right now, especially regarding Mattaeo" I told him,I do not need to tell my father how I want to fuck her all over the place. "But, Matteo will not be staying with you" he told me. "I know, but I don't need someone who will mistreat him when he comes visiting "I told my father. People in the syndicate thinks that my father only had a son, but no one knows that I had a sister, we lived together at my father's brother house but she was taken by my father's enemies eight years ago. We did everything we could to make sure we got her back but it was all ineffectual. My sister gave birth when she was with them until she died. It was then we knew she had a child. According to the doctors,Matteo was four years old when we found him. He has never uttered a word since we got him possibly because of what he went through. "How do you know she is going to be good for Matteo,I'm very sure she wasn't with a child when you saw her at the party" my father asked suddenly. "She ummmm, looked really calm, I'm sure she can handle a child " I told him. "Ohhhh okay if you say so"My father said. "I will arrange a meeting with Edward to let him know" My father said. "I know he will jump at the opportunity to get his daughter married to the Don since he had been trying to marry her off to save his business for about a year now.”SIERRA POV Three days had passed since my conversation with Lucas. Three days since I walked out of his office feeling like my entire understanding of my father had been ripped apart. I still hadn’t completely recovered from it. I had barely spoken to my father since then. Not that he wanted to speak to me except it had to do with the wedding. Not because I hated him. That was the confusing part. I didn’t hate him. I was angry. Hurt. Disappointed. But somewhere underneath all of that, there I am still the little girl who remembered him holding her hand while crossing the street. The little girl who used to believe her father could do no wrong. The little girl whose her father was always the hero. Maybe that was why his betrayal hurt so much.
LUCAS POV Three days had passed since Sierra came to my office. Three days since I had watched the realization of what her father had done settle across her face. I should have forgotten about it. But I couldn’t. Instead, I found myself thinking about her more than I cared to admit. Not because I felt sorry for her. At least, that was what I told myself. I had seen plenty of people make deals they regretted some didn’t regret. I had seen fathers sacrifice sons, brothers betray brothers, and men sell their closest friends for money. Edward was no different. He had simply found a different currency. His daughter. I sat behind my desk, staring at the report in front of me. The warehouse had been quiet for the last two days. Too quiet. No unusual mo
LUCAS POV A few seconds later, the door opened again. And Sierra walked into the room. My eyes moved over her before I could stop them. She wore a top and trouser. The top hugged her body perfectly, following the curve of her waist and the trouser highlighting the shape of her hips. It was elegant, but far more revealing than necessary for a visit to my office. The fabric clung to her in all the right places, drawing attention to every curve she seemed completely unaware she was displaying. I tried to look away. I failed. My gaze lingered longer than it should have, tracing the way the dress shaped her figure before slowly moving back to her face. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. So she had finally decided to do what her father asked of her. He had sent her here to seduce me and apparently not subtle ab
LUCAS POVThe report didn't make sense. The numbers didn’t make sense.I stared at the report spread across my desk, my fingers tapping slowly against the polished wood.Three shipments. All through the same routes.Three different dates.Yet whoever was watching them had made the same mistake. They had followed the same pattern. My eyes narrowed.I picked up the first report and read it again. The shipment had left the southern warehouse at 11:40 p.m.It was supposed to go through the western warehouse but it was being followed so I changed the route. It was supposed to reach the harbor by 2:00 a.m.It never did.It was an hour late. The second shipment had followed almost the exact same route two weeks later. And the third…The third had been almost two hours late. Someone was studying my shipment patterns. That wasn’t unusual. In my world, people were always watching.Competitors wanted information. Enemies wanted weaknesses. Men who wanted what belonged to me were constantly s
SIERRA POV “Yes.” His answer came so quickly and coldly that it hurt even more. I looked at him. There wasn’t even a hint of regret in his eyes. “And that is why you will do everything I ask of you,” he added. I stared at him for a long moment. I wanted to scream. I wanted to tell him that I wasn’t a property. Neither his nor my father’s. That I wasn’t something to sell and be bought. That Lucas had no right to own me. But then I remembered the man he had killed. I remembered exactly what Lucas was capable of.
SIERRA POV “I told you before, my father asked me to come,” I said smugly. Lucas stared at me for a few seconds, his expression unreadable. Then his jaw tightened. “Why don’t you drop that bullshit?” My smugness immediately disappeared. “You are here because your father wants to use you to control me,” he said, his voice low and serious. “But that wouldn’t work.” I swallowed. “So…” He leaned back slightly, his eyes never leaving mine. “DO NOT LIE TO ME and tell me what you know about it.” The look on his face made something inside me freeze. For a brief moment, I was no longer sitting across from Lucas. I was back at the Lucchese wedding ceremony. Back to the night I had witnessed him kill a man at a ceremony. The scream of the man he stabbed with a cutlery.
