Chapter 8 : First kiss! (Ever!)

“What are you doing here Mr Blackwood?” Grace said sounding annoyed.

“Why won’t this man just leave me alone?” Grace thought.

“Firstly, I am here to apologise. I should have never laid my hand on you, even if your friend was trying to wind me up!” Kurt said genuinely. Grace said nothing, because she knew what Kurt said was true. James had been playing games, but that still does not excuse his poor behaviour!

Kurt waited for a sign, but none came. So he continued and said “The second reason is because I am here to collect on a promise you made!”

“Promise?” Grace said confused

“Yes Dr Evans, you promised me Fish and Chips. Are you going to go back on your word now?” Kurt said in a challenging voice. He knew that Grace would not be able to resist such a challenge. However, Kurt was surprised by Grace’s reaction.

Grace sighed and relaxed before saying “Look, I am sorry to! I been thinking and I know that I over reacted. I want to tell you why, but I can’t right now.”

“You never have to explain yourself to me Grace and as I said, I am genuinely sorry and it won’t happen again. Now, are you going to show me where this famous Fish and Chip shop is?” Kurt said with a smile.

Grace returned the smile and said “Ok! But I just need to get my bag and coat from upstairs. Can you wait two minutes?”

“Absolutely I can!” Kirk said and he smiled as he watched her run up the stairs.

“Remember what I said, take it easy and don’t hurt her! She has a good heart and I can’t bare to see it broken again!” Anne said as she walked Kurt to the door.

Kurt was about to reply when Grace came down the stairs.

“Ready for the best Fish and Chip Supper you have ever had?” Grace said as they both walked to the car.

“Lead the way!” Kurt said as they both got in.

Later that evening, Kurt and Grace were sat on a bench. It was in a city park and it overlooked the whole of the city. The lights twinkled against the night sky, giving the view a magical feeling.

“Gosh, it is so magical up here! How did I not know about this place?” Grace asked

“Exactly the same way I did not know about the Fish and Chip shop on Abbey Road!” Kurt said as he popped a chip in his mouth! He knew that some of his work colleagues would be shocked at him right now. He was eating Fish and Chips with a disposable wooden spork. This was the man who was known to want the best of everything in life. But somehow, Grace made him remember the simpler things.

“Well, it has certainly been nice to be back in Sheffield!” Grace said as shivered slightly.

“Grace are you cold again?” Kurt said suddenly concerned. He put down his Fish and Chips and took off his coat.

“Oh no! Don’t worry Kurt!” Grace said as he got up to stop him.

Suddenly, they were staring into each other’s eyes and Grace could not breath. She was caught in his blue eyes, which seem to go on forever. Grace thought that she could drown in them, and strangely enough she did not seem to mind that fact.

“Grace!” Kurt said softly as he slowly moved into kiss her.

Grace’s heart started to pound faster, as her body wanted Kurt’s lips on hers. She moved in and felt sparks as soon as their lips touched.

Kurt moved to the side to deepen the kiss, making Grace moan. She instinctively combed her hands through his hair, making he moan in pleasure to. Kurt teased her lips with his tongue, urging her to let he in.

Grace relented and felt Kurt expertly tease her as he tasted her. He eventually broke off the kiss and looked at her.

“That was …amazing..thank you!” Grace managed to stutter. She was trying to get hold of her senses that had been sent haywire. She could feel the blood run to her cheeks as she became embarrassed sed.

Kurt chuckled and said “You don’t have to thank me for kissing you Grace. It was a very enjoyable experience for me as well!”

“Oh!” Grace said as her blush deepened.

“Come, sit back down  and talk with me!” Kurt said guiding her to the bench. Kurt was doing his upmost to take it slow with her. He knew that if he had not stopped then, he would have lost control.

They sat and talked about their memories of Sheffield for a while. Grace laughed at the stories of what James and Kurt got up to.

“Come with me to the Charity Ball Grace, I know that you would enjoy it!” Kurt asked

Grace eyes lit up for a moment before looking at the ground.

“What is it?” Kurt asked.

“I don’t have anything to wear! I know the charity ball is a big deal and so I think it would be better if you take someone else!” Grace said practically.

“Is that all? How about I take you shopping and we can have a meal out tomorrow? I am paying and I don’t want no arguments Grace!” Kurt said firmly.

Grace thought for a minute, she really did want to go to the Ball. Grace sighed and laid her head in his shoulder saying “I suppose I could have one night of fun before I go back!”

Her words were like a knife to Kurt’s heart and he knew he could never let her go!
