My feet were freezing, it was stone cold and it looked like we were going to freeze to death. Lily on my back, I could hear her whimpering. She was still in shock and so was I.

A few moments back we were a happy family, I, Lily, Mama and Papa eating breakfast on the table. Mama had just baked bread and Lily was very excited about it. I wasn't sure whether to cherish the moments or not. But life was beautiful. Mama in the kitchen, there was a knock on the door, I didn't really take into account who they were but Papa had gone to open the door. In our old poor home there was a fire place where we made ourselves feel warm. It was a treasure, it stopped us from freezing to death on most winter nights. Everything was so perfect until I heard Papa scream "Miranda", Mama's name followed by a gunshot. Quickly, she rushed us through the back door and told us to run in her words "don't look back" confused but pushed with adrenaline, I held Lily's hand and ran as fast as I could run. Through the forest, I said goodbye to mama as I heard her scream. The gunshots rang twice. I was scared and traumatized by everything. Lily began to cry and ask for mama but how could I tell her she was too young.

As we walked through the snow I kept on beating myself up, what if I was attentive? And at least seen their faces maybe, I could have saved Papa. Listening to Lily cry, I felt the urge to join her, actually I shed a few tears but held most of them inside. Almost night, I slumped to the floor with Lily on my back. I wanted her to stop crying. I wanted her to be okay but I wanted Papa and Mama alive.

Luckily for us there was a cave nearby, and I knew this cave thanks to the adventurous times I had gotten lost in the woods and found it. I was able to get Lily to lie down and start a little fire. Unfortunately it wasn't strong enough. I was damn sure we were going to freeze to death. I watched Lily shiver as I tried to cover her with my body. It was a long cold night and I really missed the fireplace and so did Lily. Throughout the night I could hear Lily mutter "Mama, Papa...". I was in so much pain, I wondered if her little brain could simulate what had happened to our parents. With morning came hunger and this was when I knew we were really in trouble, it was winter and there were no plants around. We were left with hunting, this time I had to apply Papa's tactics and hunted a rabbit. Lily ate even though she was sad but it made me happy. I couldn't stop beating myself up. I felt guilty for not being able to save Papa. But now I had Lily, and I was going to protect her.

We survived the turmoil of the winter, when we stumbled on a great treasure, actually it was a small cottage, it was abandoned and nobody was living inside. For a while I and Lily called it out home. I was her protector and provider until we had unexpected visitors. I had just got back from hunting, I was bragging about the bounty I caught

"Lily, the dare thought it could escape my traps but unluckily for the poor thing it's our dinner"

I giggled a bit but I knew something was wrong when I didn't hear Lily's voice. I knew there were others in the house. I walked into the kitchen and there I saw Lily sitting, behind her are a few men dressed up in black. The one directly behind is muscled up, with a scar on his face he has this look of ruthlessness in his eyes. The two beside him are technically kids compared to how built his body is. Confusion lingers in my head but my aim is to protect Lily, my thirteen year old voice manages to say something.

"Who are you?"

The one with the scar on his face, laughs out loud he says something in Russian

"We are your nightmare"

His laugh puts chills on me, I'm scared but not for myself. For Lily, I see her crying and all I want to do is run to where she is and hold her and whisper into her ears that everything is going to be okay but the situation was not so.

After his thunderous laughter, he brought out a gun and a blade. The type that has it's parts cut out, I just knew we're screwed beyond words.

"Choose your poison?"

He asked me, I was so angry all I wanted to do was to get on top of him and stab him till I was tired but I was nothing but an ant in his hands. I looked at him and maintained my silence and refused to answer but inside me I was panicking. His countenance changed and he bent his head and raised his eyebrows.

"Do you think I'm playing with you?"

Then he yelled

"I said pick how you want to die!"

"Kill me first"

I fell to my knees, he seemed surprised and so did his sidekicks. He straightened his shirt and walked to my front and this time he whispered.

"Pick how you want to die"

A sharp witty reply paced out from my lips

"And I said kill me first"

He smirks

"If that is what you want"

Lily lets out a sharp cry, I could see running towards me but one the men drags her by the hair, her pretty blonde hair. The sight of it made my skin burn, in my mind I had killed all of them. Just then the big bad monsters laughs and then pulls out a gun and points it at my face

"I'll make it quick for you but take my time with her"

I was angrier knowing I wouldn't be able to stop him, I looked at Lily as he pulled the trigger.

"It's such a pity, you'd have been a pretty tough thing"

"Stop!"

A voice from the corner room, says subtlety and he lowers his gun. The entire room is graveyard quiet as footsteps fill the entire sound of the room. Her short blonde hair has a perfect equal cut to cover forehead, cheek bones highlighted and semi pointed nose is placed right before her petite lips. She looks at me and says

"My name is Greta"

She lit a cigarette and stood up. Walking out the house she offers one more statement.

"Don't kill them. The older one will be useful"

But the muscular guy is not having it at all

"The big, boss said they all have to die"

She stops and turns around let's out a puff and asks him

"What did you say?"

He quivers a bit but still speaks

"The big boss said no evidence is supposed to be alive, he gave orders to finish them off, none of their remains should be found-"

A gunshot goes off, the big muscular man is on the floor. Greta is holding a gun and has a look of nonchalance on her face.

"I am the big boss"

She talks to his dead body.

"Clean this up"

She points to the two other guys in the room.

"When you're done, get the girls somewhere safe"

Then she leaves. That was the beginning of Octavia, Greta took me under her wings and trained me. Made my first kill at thirteen, told me to have no remorse. In her own words "...the mission is more important than your emotions"

when I went for my very first mission and succeeded she looked at me and said

"Today, a spy is born"

I looked up to her and wanted to be fierce like her, to be strong and brave like her. After Lily, I adored Greta for the most part of it. I was the sacrifice taken so that Lily could be happy. I sold my life to an

agency in exchange for Lily's freedom. But now I was literally going to die for her sake

OctaviaThe water rippled as he emerged from the pool, and my breath caught in my throat.Alfredo pushed his wet hair back from his face, water streaming down his broad shoulders, carving paths over the ridges of his chest and stomach. His body was a map of power, every muscle defined but not ostentatious, the kind of strength earned through action rather than vanity. The afternoon sun caught the droplets on his skin, making him look almost golden.God help me.I was supposed to be gathering intel. The study was two floors up, his private safe combination hidden in a book I had spotted days ago. Carlos was probably losing his mind wondering where I was or thinking I was dead. The agency needed evidence that would bring this entire empire crashing down.Instead, I stood frozen at the poolside window like a lovestruck teenager, watching the man I was supposed to destroy dry himself with a towel. He caught me staring.A slow smile spread across his face, that devastating smile that made

AlfredoThe bunker had served its purpose, but I could not hide her forever. Three days. Three days of watching Maria sleep, of taking care of her and telling myself that the world outside could burn for all I cared. Three days of peace I had never known. But I was Alfredo De El. And a king who abandons his throne does not remain king for long. The morning we emerged, I had already sent word ahead. Every captain, every lieutenant, every made man who mattered was to assemble in the main hall of the mansion by noon. No excuses. No delays. Failure to appear would be treated as insubordination.I dressed carefully that morning in a charcoal suit, perfectly tailored, my hair slicked back, my jaw clean-shaven. The man in the mirror looked every inch the mafia boss. Cold. Commanding. Unshakeable.Inside, I was anything but.Maria stood at the window of the safe house, watching the sun rise over the estate. Her bruises had faded to sickly yellows and greens, but she still moved carefully, pro

AlfredoShe said yes.I replayed the words in my head as I lay beside her in the narrow bunker bed, her hand still wrapped in mine, her breathing finally slow and even with sleep. I'll stay. I'll be yours. Three days ago, I had been drowning in a sea of loneliness and obligation, convinced that my life would consist of nothing but shipments and meetings and the cold emptiness of my mansion at night. Three days ago, I had never tasted real hope. Now, watching the soft rise and fall of Maria's chest beneath the thin blanket, I felt something I had forgotten existed. Peace. I didn’t care if she was a spy or not. Whether she worked with the feds or FBI. She could be the death of me, for I cared. Her face was still bruised, still marked by what Scarfaced had done to her. The sight of those injuries made my blood boil even now. When I found her collapsed against that tree, bloody and broken, something inside me had shattered. I had carried her through the forest with a single thought pou

OctaviaHis lips were still on mine, soft and demanding all at once, when my brain finally caught up with my body. This is wrong.Watching him confess his feelings for me wasn’t something I signed up for. How was this going to look for me, a top world class spy?I pulled back, my hands pressing against his chest. The fabric of his shirt was warm beneath my palms, and I could feel his heartbeat racing beneath my fingertips. Fast and desperate. Real."Alfredo, stop."He didn't move away. His forehead stayed pressed against mine, his breath mixing with my own. Those deep brown eyes searched my face with an intensity that made my stomach flip."I can't stop," he whispered. "I've tried. God knows I've tried. You're in my head, Maria. Every moment of every day. When I'm giving orders, I hear your voice. When I'm in meetings, I see your face. When I close my eyes at night..." He swallowed hard. "You're there."My heart hammered against my broken ribs. Maria. He still called me Maria. He still

AlfredoShe slept for nearly fourteen hours.I barely left her side, watching the rise and fall of her chest, counting each breath like it was a gift. The bandages she had on were already soaked. I had made sure that the doctors didn’t leave her side throughout the entire night. I wanted to be safe by all means. Now, as the first light of dawn filtered through the bunker's small reinforced window, she finally stirred. Her icy grey eyes fluttered open, finding mine immediately. Even swollen and bruised, even with the split lip and the dark circles carved beneath her eyes, she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen."Alfredo," she whispered, my name sounding strange on her lips. Not *sir*. Not *master*. Just my name.I moved from the chair to the edge of the bed, the old mattress dipping under my weight. "You're alive.""Barely."We sat in silence for a long moment. OctaviaPain had become my entire world.Scarfaced’s knife traced another slow line across my skin, shallow but deliberate, designed to hurt without killing me too quickly. I bit down hard on my lip to keep from screaming, tasting fresh blood. My body was a map of bruises and cuts. Every breath sent fire through my broken ribs. I had lost track of how long I had been in this basement, chained to the metal chair like an animal.“You are tougher than I expected,” Scarfaced said, wiping the blade on a cloth. “But everyone breaks eventually. Tell me who you really work for, and I might end this quickly.”I lifted my head with the last bit of defiance I had left. “Go to hell.”He smiled, that jagged scar twisting grotesquely. He reached for the blowtorch again.Suddenly, loud alarms blared through the underground facility. Red emergency lights flashed. Scarfaced’s head snapped toward the door as frantic footsteps pounded outside.“What the fuck is happening?” he barked into his radio.“Bos
