Violet's POV

Two hands dropped on my table, I raised my eyes from my computer to see who it was.

A particular red-haired Daisy, my closest friend in my workplace.

“The CEO wants to see you in his office now,” she said, the seriousness in her tone was unmistakable, my brow creased in confusion, as I try to think what I may have done, due to the rumors I heard when I got a job here if the boss calls for you when you don't work directly under him you're fucked.

I'm a new employee, I started working here two months ago, I'm a secretary to his chief finance officer, that's why I'm a bit worried.

“Now!” She forced the words through gritted teeth and I flinched back in shock, squinting. I snapped out of my daze.

“Okay,” I mutter, stepping out of my desk and on my heels to Mr Rogers's office.

I knock once and I hear a loud ‘Come in’, I place my hand on my chest to steady my breathing so I don't look like a freak when I enter his office.

I enter the office and close the door behind me, Fear doesn't let me take another step further, he is standing with his back facing me, looking at the bustling city of California through his floor-to-ceiling glass window with his glass filled with alcohol at hand.

Mr Rogers' office spoke well of a successful businessman with impeccable taste, the refined mahogany furniture and designer sofas mounted in proper places in his office were a testimony to that, and the see-through wall was just another addition to the aesthetic office.

I watch him keenly, not knowing what to say. I'm very sure he asked Daisy to call me, his voice was the voice that ordered me to come in from the outside and he is very much aware that I'm here but why isn't he talking?

I sense suppressed anger in his demeanor but what have I done? I ask myself.

He stirs the alcohol in the glass, sips a little from it, and takes his gaze back to the window, one hand in his pocket. I notice his jaw clenching multiple times during the past 3 minutes I've been standing, and his silence makes my skin crawl.

“Good morning Mr Rogers,” I cleared my throat, “Daisy, your secretary, said you called for me,” I spoke with the little confidence I gathered.

He slowly turned to me, his face was expressionless and it unnerved me. I heard the sound of my gulping in my ears.

“Yes, I did,” he ambled towards his table with calculated steps and dropped the glass, pulled his hand from his pocket, he started donning his tie, my eyes followed hands absentmindedly till he ran a hand through his jet-black blonde hair and my eyes met with his honey brown eyes, I couldn't hold his gaze so I instinctively faced down.

“I called you before but it's obvious you don't need this job, and I can't force it on you, I know thousands of girls out there that are smarter than you with better physiques,” he talked slowly and his tone was menacingly calm and that scared shit out of me, he rounded his table and placed his butt in front of his desk, folding his arms across his chest in his Armani suit, now he was facing me, “That would do everything to keep their job, but you…..it's seems you don't value opportunity,” His lips formed a wicked smirk and I wondered where he was heading with that.

I lifted my eyes from the floor to look at him, my pulse started racing as I tried to decipher what he meant.

“I work earnestly Sir, I do my part to support the growth of the company, I follow all the rules and regulations of the company, what have I done Sir?” I ask, my voice unsteady.

“You support my company?” He asked, his tone tinged with a touch of mockery, “You don't do anything for my company, I pay you for your service and you are the one who owes me!” He spat menacingly.

I flinched slightly from the direness in his voice, how can I owe a billionaire?

“Ho..how Sir?” I asked fearfully, I don't remember borrowing money from him unless in my dream.

“Did your finance officer give you any message yesterday?”

Oh…now I see where all this is going, the finance officer asked me to meet him at a hotel yesterday at the end of the day, but when I told Daisy she advised against it and my Mom asked me to get her medications from the pharmacy yesterday.

“Ummm…yesterday I was…..”

“Answer the fucking question! did she? Or did she not?” He snapped.

I let out some air from my lungs, “She did tell me,” I say truthfully.

“Was that the first time you didn't meet up with me when I asked you to?”

Without beating around the bush I answered the question, “No,” from the look of things, I think my fate has been decided.

“So is it clear now how you owe me? What do you think you have that I haven't seen in my lifetime,” He cocked his eyebrow at me, and I brought my gaze down again, this time my eyes caught his black shoes that had been polished to perfection, contrasting his outfit.

“I'm sorry, Sir,” I pleaded, my hands intertwined behind me, nervously trembling. Maybe I shouldn't have listened to Daisy's advice.

“There’s nothing like sorry Violet, this is business, we trade deal for a deal, under normal circumstances I'm supposed to fire you, but you look so innocent, that's why I'll be giving you a second chance now, but on one condition,” I raise my gaze again and there he has a sinister smile plastered on his face.

“What condition Sir?” I retorted I couldn't help the desperacy in my tone.

“You'll be my Mistress,” he says, his evil smile unwavering.

For a few seconds I go numb, Mr Rogers is a married man with two children and I thought the rumors about him sleeping with his workers were wrong until now, I can't believe my ears, but the truth is as obvious as white.

“How…how do you mean, Sir?” I say, respectfully.

“What don't you understand dumb idiot, who interviewed you? Why can't you comprehend simple words?” he barked angrily, even if he was the wrong one here I had to be respectful because he was the richer one too.

“I'm sorry Sir, but I can't….” He snatched the words from my mouth again.

“You know what? You are fired! Leave my office and never step foot anywhere in my Company again,” he commanded, picking up his glass like he needed the flavors to calm his rising anger.

I fell on my knees, “Sir, Please hear me out please…..”

“I said GET OUT!” He growled and threw his glass across the room, the glass hit a concrete part of the wall and shattered into pieces leaving me immobile and stunned.

But I didn't need another warning from him or maybe the next person to leave this office in pieces will be me-so I scurried out of the office.

Vincenzo's POV “Why do you ask that?” I stop in my tracks, going back to her; I take a seat beside her. “Because I want to be sure you're doing things because you want it, not because you want to please me,” she said, I see tears run down her cheeks. I instinctively used my thumb to wipe them off, “Hey don't say that, I'm pleasing you, yes, but I want this, why wait longer? Why wait for another year? I want to make you mine. I hope you're happy with that. You said you wanted a future with me in it, have you changed your mind now?” I hold up her chin so I can see her face. “No, I still want a future with you, I just get scared sometimes you know,” she gives me a weak smile. I open my arms and embrace her, she still sobs silently, her shoulders shaking beneath my hold. “You don't have to worry about anything, I got you, nothing will happen to you, okay, I'll always protect you,” I assure her, stroking her hair that's balanced under my chin softly. Whenever I assure her that I'll

Vincenzo's POV Violet tugged the hem of my shirt slightly to get my attention and I tilted to look at her. “What is it?” I asked, creasing my brow as I noticed the faint discomfort on her face, the last time I checked she was clapping at the performance of one of the guest artists. “I want to use the restroom,” She says, leaning close to my ear. I used my hands to give the guard behind me a sign to lean forward, he understood the sign and leaned close. “Take her to the convenience,” I say to him with a fixed voice, he nodded and escorted Violet and they followed a close exit. Once Violet and the guards were out of sight I took my gaze back to the lady speaking on stage “So we just have a few things on our list….” She says scanning through the small long card she is holding, she looks back up, “And we will come to a close for today's meeting,” she says looking with a beam. The words she says catches my attention for a moment but after a few minutes they started sounding like dis

Chapter 129Violet's POV My left fingers intertwined in Vincenzo's hands as we drove to the event place, Vincenzo had kissed the back of my hand one million times. He does it absentmindedly because his eyes are on the road, my eyes are fixed on him but his eyes are focused somewhere else, looking out the window like he is thinking of something, I wonder what he might be thinking of, I guess it has to do with me because he subconsciously kisses my hand like I'm going to run away. After watching him for a while I decided to break the eerie silence.“Vincenzo,” I called him and he shook slightly, I think I guessed right, he quivered like he was pulled back from a train of intense thoughts. If I'm not mistaken I see an obvious sign of worry in his expression, maybe something else but that's what I think.“Yes….” He muttered in a low and almost inaudible voice, looking into my eyes with his baby gray eyes, for a moment I locked my gaze on him, and I reached to touch his chin, my blue eyes

Violet's POV “Hello, my Dear,” the perky lady rises from her seat, immediately she sets her eyes on me, and opens her arms to hug me.I'm quite taken aback by her strange humor but I manage to hide my discomfort as she engulfs me in a warm hug.“Oh my goodness, YOU. ARE. SO. BEAUTIFUL.” she says with a hint of admiration after disengaging from the hug, her eyes checking me out from head to toe as she holds my upper arm with both hands. Her aura is friendly and welcoming but I can't bring myself to just trust or like her because she's friendly. I guess I've developed trust issues for strangers after the incident with the detective. The lady is like two inches taller than me, she has doll-like green eyes, her round smooth face with faint freckles looks like she goes to the spa every weekend, she is a red-hair blonde, her hair is well trimmed on the edges and they drop equally above her shoulders, she has tan skin, moderate double D’s like me likewise her hips, her short pants gives me a

Violet's POV I stared at my phone screen helplessly as I lay on my bed. I couldn't help the feeling of being ignored by Vincenzo, I don't even know if that's the right word to use. Why isn't he taking my calls? This is the tenth time in a row in the last 5 minutes that I called him and he hasn't picked up one call. I know he wouldn't ignore me on purpose but I'm just worried when he doesn't take my calls, is it normal? Or am I worrying too much? I can't help the sense of abandonment that simmers into my mind when I don't get to speak to him when I want to, Maybe that's how I'm wired.I exhale deeply, dropping the phone to the side as I lay on my bed, looking above me, watching the high ceiling, every column and corner of it, the magnitude compared to that of my old room at home, its apparent white color, gleaming above me.I picked up my phone from my side again and clutched it tightly to my chest. I let out another breath. I just needed to ease my mind. All I wanted was to talk to V
