Behind Bars

On the morning of Sophia's first day in prison, the inmates are lined in front of the serving counter each with mental trays clanging in their hands and their eyes fixed on the sorry excuse they dish into their plates as breakfast.

Sophia gets her share of the offering and is suddenly disgusted by the semblance of the food, coupled with the fact that it emits no aroma.

She reluctantly walks over to one of the steel tables and throws the tray on it, then takes a seat alone all by herself while the other inmates are in pairs.

"Who's the new girl," an inmate, Jessie watches her from a table of three.

"Some rich daddy's girl who apparently got her hands dirty," her friend, Jena responds.

"Rich people," their other friend, Isabella thuds the food with her spoon. "This people are societies biggest problem."

"Girls like her?" Jena questions.

"Yes, Jena," Isabella responds. "Rich people." She slowly stands up from her seat with eyes fixed on Sophia.

"What're you doing?" Jessie questions her.
