LOGINCHASE.
"And did you get him?" I asked Vadim, my right-hand man and he shook his head.
Incompetent fool.
"So you are saying someone tried to attack our warehouse and you could not catch him, one person?" I groused and he looked like he was going to say something but I cut him off.
"Just one man. And you couldn't catch him" My jaw clenched at the sheer stupidity of what he is saying, none of our rival clan has enough balls to get close to my property I won't just retaliate I will make sure they don't have anything left to fall back on.
Unless it's her.
"We thought it was just a tourist who got lost until he started shooting the guards, the others were able to outnumber him so he left on his bike" Vadim narrated.
"And his license number? The cameras outside?" I probed, if I'm going to go after whoever it was I need to know if it isn't from my brothers back home.
"The camera was destroyed before he came, he must have hacked into it. But one of the injured men who saw him from up close said it's a man, he was wearing a mask so they couldn't see his face" He explained and I nodded.
"Find him, I don't care how you do it but one man can't just be bold enough to attack my men, make sure you have more information about this masked man by the end of the month" I ordered and he nodded.
"And the Carlisles?" I asked, typing on my desktop computer, the grainy picture of a ginger-haired woman was displayed on my screen, my eyes caught the silver ring on her left hand and my fists clenched.
She even dared to wear Kolya's ring, flaunting her treasure from her first kill.
I will enjoy breaking her into pieces.
After Vadim suggested the marriage deal, I accepted because I know that's the only way I will have absolute control over her but seeing my brother's ring on her finger makes me want to crack that skull open and watch her bleed before the lights fade from her pretty eyes.
Watch the crimson soak her ginger hair and -
"We have been told Don Carlisle informed his daughter of the marriage deal" Vadim voiced out interrupting my thoughts and I nodded uninterested in the details.
The Don didn't hesitate when we offered to call a truce on those terms, I was hoping he would resist or reject my offer so I could kill the bastard but Vadim is a smart fucker he was able to make it look like we really wanted peace.
But the Don is supposed to know that's bullshit if he's smart, or he doesn't care about his daughter. That would explain why he would have his daughter over to the enemy on a silver platter.
What if I chop her head off and send it to him instead?
But she has such a pretty dainty neck, I have never met Sloane Carlisle before not even with the bad blood between us. I never cared enough to see what she looked like. I only want her dead.
Gone.
Erased.
I don't give a shit if she's beautiful or not, but after seeing how she looks made me understand why they call her a devilish angel.
She has a stunning face, with the layered ginger hair and ethereal teal color eyes, pale skin, oval-shaped face, and red lips. A bit too tall for a woman, she's 5'10 with a curvy slender body.
She has a soft kind of beauty like that of an angel but I knew better, she murdered Kolya in cold blood when she was just a fucking minor.
I wasn't bothered by her beauty, I have seen countless beautiful women so this one doesn't make any difference, if she tries anything stupid I will slit her throat the same way she did with my brother.
I still remember that day when I saw him, his cold body, his wide empty eyes, and the dried teardrop on his cheek.
It has haunted me since that night. I wanted her gone even at that moment but Father insisted we wait, Sokolovs don't do impulsivity.
Everything we do is meticulously planned and perfectly executed.
So I waited for years to finally get my revenge only for me to hear the Bravta was against me taking over my father's position as the Pakhan's right-hand man because I don't have a wife. I was livid when I heard the rumors and Vadim confirmed that it was true.
I wasn't going to let them push me to the side and ruin all my father had worked for with such a silly reason.
They wanted me to get married so I will grant their wish.
Then Vadim suggested I kill two birds with one stone, get married, and have my revenge at the same time.
From what I heard she doesn't like to be told what to do, too bad I'm controlling.
Vadim walked out of my study and I carried the glass of vodka close to my computer taking a long sip before I put it back. Today was terribly boring.
My phone started vibrating and I scowled when I saw that it was the men I put in charge of the hotel my latest investments, this would be the first time they were calling me instead of Vadim.
"What is it?" I snapped as soon as I picked up.
"Sir, there has been a breach," The man at the other end said and I sat upright using my other hand to type on my computer.
"Who is the intruder?" I asked calmly as I hacked into the hotel cameras, I watched as a woman wearing a black shirt and black jeans with a face mask concealing her identity walked into the lobby with a black bag.
That wasn't what made her stand out, it's her ginger hair.
I can recognize that hair anywhere even if I just saw it, the silk strand shines in the light even with the grainy picture I knew who it was and my instincts are always right, and the precise steps of a dangerous woman on a mission.
"Make sure you catch her," I ordered coldly. I was curious to know what she was doing on the stairs.
I watched as she got out of the elevator and paused when she saw the camera, then flipped off whoever she thought was watching.
Brave little thing, I would give her that.
"Let her go, she's leaving already so find out what she did with the stairs" I added and hung up on him calling Kazmir instantly.
"I want you to follow Sloane Carlisle, she just left my hotel, find out where she's going to" I instructed and he grunted a reply at the other end.
"And Kazmir-"
One moment I was watching my men move around and the next they flew back then the camera went blank.
"I think we both know what she just did to the hotel," Kazmir said and I could hear the shuffling in the background despite the rage simmering inside me with the loud roaring in my head.
She blew up my hotel.
"Change of plans, bring her to me dead or alive make sure she's here in fifteen minutes"
ChaseThe day was fresh. My body refused to acknowledge it. Each muscle screamed in protest every joint ached and every nerve flared as if torn apart and hastily stitched anew. My leg throbbed with a burning pain, rigid and swollen. My head pounded my chest ached and my shoulder throbbed in time with each heartbeat. Still beneath all the agony something acute and weighty lingered: the recollection of how narrowly I had almost lost her Sloane.Afterwards I sensed her.Sloane.She sat next to me, her hand lightly touching mine, an insistence that grounded me. A rush of relief overwhelmed me, tightening my chest and stinging my throat. I attempted to speak, to let her know I was conscious. The sound that emerged was a hoarse croak.“Sloane " I croaked, my tone. Strained from several days without speaking. She moved nearer, placing a kiss on my forehead. "You’re secure, " she murmured. "You’re at home.”I attempted to move, to lift myself up yet a sharp pain shot through my leg. Each moti
SLOANEI caught the door sliding open, the noise unmistakably purposeful. My gut dropped immediately, a fear winding inside me. I stood motionless in the living room, fingers clutching the table's rim as though it might keep me steady. The voice that came next squeezed my chest like a clamp. I didn't think I would hear it anytime soon. “Sloane…”It was him. My dad. Despite all I had been through the turmoil of weeks, the brush with death, the nightmares, the terror….I recognized that voice. The very voice that used to assure safety that never arrived was the one that disappeared when I required him most. The identical voice that had observed me. Nearly perished, at the hands of those he ought to have prevented.Initially I was stunned. Then anger took hold. My jaw tightened, my hands. My heart pounded so fiercely I feared it would explode.“Dad…" I murmured, my tone. Rough. "Why… why are you here?”He paused, his gaze flitting across the room like a trapped creature. "I… I ran into
SLOANEThe drive back was agonizing. I clutched Vadim’s arm as if it were the link holding me anchored to reality. Chase lay slouched next, to me his form weak, pale and almost motionless. Each bump along the way caused me to flinch, fearful that another jolt would cause him to bleed quickly and lose even more blood. I couldn’t avert my gaze from him. The dried blood staining his clothes, the rise and fall of his chest, with every shallow breath all caused my stomach to knot up in ways I never thought possible.Vadim was driving silently, his jaw clenched, eyes flicking repeatedly to the rearview mirror scanning the roads. He remained quiet. His anxiety revealed that he was working out every detail: the way home, the most secure path, the exact distance, to the guest room where he was certain Chase would need to be placed. I concentrated on my breathing attempting to soothe the thoughts that incessantly shouted: He’s injured he might not survive it’s entirely my responsibility, everyt
SLOANEThe door slammed open with such force that the reverberation dislodged dust from the ceiling. My whole body flinched. For a moment I feared Xavier had summoned reinforcements that this was the instant everything tumbled deeper into chaos. However I noticed him.Chase.He remained steady in the doorway, his chest heaving in gasps, a firearm held with both hands though his arms shook. His eyes fiercely aflame fixed on Xavier as if blaming him for every injury he bore. His garments were ripped, smeared with blood and fresh marks dirt caking his jaw and bruises shadowing his cheekbone. He appeared worn out, beaten and barely standing. But he was alive. Alive and here.Relief overwhelmed me quickly and forcefully that it nearly caused pain. It shattered something within me. My lungs at last expanded with air that had been held captive in my chest, for hours. My eyesight blurred as a throbbing radiated through the middle of my ribs. Chase located me. He succeeded. Somehow despite eve
CHASEIt's morning Sloane hasn't arrived yet Kazmir is getting on my nerves and Vadim? Vadim is firm. Forbids me from moving due to my leg. The sunlight filtering through the drapes made the room seem bright and overly serene as if the world failed to grasp that everything inside me was ablaze. I forced myself to sit up disregarding the intense fiery pain radiating down my thigh. Pain was irrelevant. Breathing hardly mattered. The sole important fact was that Sloane wasn’t present. Before my feet touched the floor my hands were already clenching into fists. I despised this house more than before. It felt off without her presence. Vacant. Too silent. Her absence was palpable, in the walls the air and the foolish furniture that still carried the scent of her shampoo.
SLOANEI kept blinking until the faint light became clear. I lay on the ground on my back, against a beam that reeked of mildew. My hands were bound behind me with rope that chafed my skin whenever I took a deep breath.Perfect.I moved slightly to check the knot's firmness. It was too secure to come undone. Not so tight as to be impossible. Then I noticed footsteps—annoyed—approaching from the left side of the room.Xavier.I noticed the noise of his breathing, laying eyes on him. A brief staccato rhythm, as if he was struggling with his mind and falling behind. He emerged from behind a workbench massaging the bridge of his nose. His jaw was tightly clenched. I feared it might shatter under the strain.I swallowed hard. "I figured I’d be gone by now.”His head snapped in my direction. The glare he shot at me might have stripped paint.I grinned regardless.“Honestly it’s somewhat disappointing " I remarked. "If you’re going to abduct someone you ought to be, at least, efficient.”His
