LOGINEnzo Romano POV
In my head, there were fires eating the ground.
Screams fading.
Bodies falling.
The smell of blood mixed with burned ash.
Those were my memories.
The past that made me.
The past I will never run from.
One day, I was just a child standing in the middle of ruin, my eyes wide with terror as I stared at torn bodies, my parents’ blood flowing under my feet. I never forgot that day. I never forgot how they forced me to choose. Death with them, or becoming something else. A monster with no mercy.
I chose life.
But it came with a price.
The phone rang beside me. I picked it up without taking my eyes off the city.
"Are you ready?"
It was one of my men. Calm, but with hesitation I hated hearing.
"Prepare our men."
Silence followed. Then his voice came back, unsure. "Is this necessary? There are other ways. We could talk. Make a peace deal. Instead of sending killers to slaughter everyone."
My jaw tightened. I looked at my reflection in the glass. Hesitation. Mercy. Those words had no place in my world.
I turned slowly. My fist tightened around the phone. My voice dropped, cold and deadly.
"Peace? Do you think I reached this power because I look for peace? Do you think I became this man by offering handshakes?"
Silence on the other end. Then I heard him swallow.
"But..."
"But nothing." I cut him off. "Anyone who stands against me. You know what happens to those who betray me."
The hesitation turned into fear.
"Do what I told you. Or I will find another man with more loyalty."
A few seconds of silence. Then his weak answer.
"As you command."
"When are you coming back?" he asked again, more careful now.
"I have things to finish here." I fastened the buttons of my black shirt.
"There is someone we do not know watching you. He wants to know you. Maybe an enemy getting ready for you." His voice shook a little.
Enemies never scared me. Neither did the curiosity of strangers or rivals who wanted to study me.
"Forget it. Welcome a new enemy. There is no one in this world who can stand in my way. Let him try."
"But..."
"Do what I told you."
I ended the call without waiting. I stared at my reflection again. My past was nothing but battles and blood. I had no choice but to be the strongest.
"Real power is not killing all your enemies. It is making them afraid to even think about facing you."
Her words still echoed in my head.
She tried to change me. Tried to tell me there were other ways. That I did not have to be the shadow that terrified everyone. But she never understood one thing. I did not choose this path. It was forced on me from birth.
And in the end, even she bent to the law of power.
I never knew mercy. Since childhood, I was hard. Dirty. Violent in every deal I made. But with Celine. I was a child again. Someone I did not recognize. She pulled me in, in a way that drove me insane.
How did she suddenly become part of my life? I do not know. I never cared about women. I used them as tools or saw them as threats. But Celine was different.
Bright. But hiding a darkness I could not ignore. Every time she smiled, I saw something behind it. A heart on fire.
I had been watching her for a while. She was not ordinary. She reminded me of something. Or someone.
One night, I saw her walking alone in dark streets.
That was not normal.
Maybe the mafia in me made me suspicious of her origins. But I had to be sure. I had to understand the secret behind her mystery. There was a puzzle around her, and I never allowed unknown things in my life.
I walked to my desk and dropped into the chair. I picked up my phone again and called my assistant. My voice was sharp and final.
"I want everything on Celine. And on her older brother, Michael Joseph."
A soft knock interrupted my thoughts. I did not answer. No one needed permission to enter. Not my men. And not one of my women.
The door opened slowly. Natalia walked in. One of the high class prostitutes from our nightclub. Her red hair spilled over her shoulders like fire. She wore a black silk dress that barely covered her curves. In her hand, a glass of whiskey with ice dancing inside. Her eyes locked on me like she had found her prey.
"Good evening, Enzo," she said my name slowly, tasting it.
I did not answer. I looked at her with cold eyes. But inside, I was not that cold. She was part of this dirty world. She knew how to touch the right strings.
She walked closer with confident steps. She set the glass on my desk. Then she leaned over, her body pressing forward until her chest was almost touching my hand.
"Tired of thinking?" she whispered, her fingers sliding slowly over my arm.
"The night is long. And I hate seeing you alone, drowning in worries that do not suit a man like you."
I raised an eyebrow. No smile.
"And did you come to comfort me, Natalia?"
She smiled. Half desire. Half danger.
"I came to remind you that there are things more beautiful than blood and guns. Things not solved by deals. Things you feel."
Then suddenly, she started to dance slowly in front of me. I did not move. I watched her like a familiar show. Not exciting. But deadly beautiful.
She closed the curtains with one hand and moved closer. She sat on the edge of the desk in front of me and leaned in until I felt her hot breath near my ear.
"Forget everything tonight. Be mine."
Her words hit my head. But they did not move anything inside me. Suddenly, Celine’s image filled my mind. Her defiant face. Her smile that trusted no one. Her eyes, always questioning.
"Enough." My voice was cold as I pushed Natalia’s hand away.
Her body froze for a second. Then she stepped back calmly. Before leaving, she stopped at the door and looked at me with a look I did not understand right away.
"You are burning inside, Enzo. And I am not the one who puts out that fire."
She closed the door behind her.
Why did Celine appear in my head?
Is she starting to slip inside me? Into the part I never allow anyone to touch?
Enzo POVCeline cried harder, burying her face in my chest, her voice breaking between shattered sobs. "What if I love someone else? What if one day I look at you and feel nothing? I would rather die remembering you than live without knowing who you are!"I tightened my arms around her and shut my eyes hard, my tears falling into her hair without trying to hide them. My voice came out rough, filled with pain and determination. "That will never happen. Because my love for you is stronger than memory. Even if you forget my name, I will make your heart remember me. I will start from zero if I have to. But I will never leave you."We stayed wrapped around each other, holding on like we were fighting fate itself before it swallowed us whole. Celine cried in my arms until exhaustion took over. I kept holding her tightly, as if I was fighting death with my bare hands. After a long and painful breakdown, I carried her in my arms. She was too weak to resist this time. I placed her in the front
Enzo POVMichael and Montgomery came in a few minutes later after getting the news from the doctor. I had sent them a quick message. Montgomery looked completely shattered. His face was pale, his eyes filled with tears, his hands shaking. The moment he saw Celine lying on the bed, surrounded by machines, he collapsed to his knees beside her, crying in a broken voice. "No… no, my daughter… don’t leave me."I remembered the doctor’s words from the previous visit, the harsh ones I tried to forget. "If the tumor continues to grow without immediate treatment, it may lead to very serious complications such as increased pressure inside the skull, internal brain bleeding, stroke, or a prolonged coma. Time is critical."Now Montgomery was crying uncontrollably, his voice rising. "I was afraid for her from everything except this… God, forgive me, Celine!"Michael stood behind him, his hand on his shoulder, but he was pale too. His eyes were fixed on Celine, unable to speak. His face looked empt
Enzo POVI sat beside her on the edge of a quiet river, its water shimmering under a warm golden sun that didn’t burn. The air was clean, carrying the scent of wildflowers and fresh grass. Celine was next to me, calm in a way I had never seen before. No fear in her features. No trembling. None of that quiet brokenness that always lived inside her. Just peace. My fingers moved gently through her soft waves of hair, catching strands between them like something fragile that could break if I wasn’t careful. I wrapped a lock around my finger, then let it fall slowly, as if I was afraid of hurting even the air around her. She leaned against my shoulder, and for the first time, my eyes were not searching for war. They only wanted this moment to last. There was something strange in my chest. A calm that did not belong to me.Suddenly, she lifted her head slightly and smiled, a soft smile filled with the wonder of a child who finally found safety. "Do you know… my headache is gone. I don’t fee
Celine POVTwo days passed while I was at my father’s house. I had come because I missed him, but now I missed Enzo even more. So I slipped out through a small back door, wearing a short black skirt and black high heels I didn’t even think to take off. I moved like a mischievous little cat, my steps light, but the heels made a soft sound that betrayed me every time.I reached the side wall of the house and saw the metal ladder used for maintenance. I dragged it as quietly as I could toward the upper window I knew was Enzo’s room. I climbed slowly, my heart pounding hard, a mix of jealousy and longing driving me. But the heel betrayed me on the last step. My foot slipped, I lost my balance, and I fell backward with a muffled cry.At that exact moment, strong hands reached out from the open window, catching me by the waist before I hit the ground. Enzo lifted me effortlessly, pulled me inside the room, and closed the window behind us.I screamed in fear, eyes tightly shut, convinced I h
Celine POVHot water poured heavily from the large overhead shower, tracing shining lines over Enzo’s strong, toned body. He stood under the stream, his blue eyes half closed in relaxation, his hands moving slowly with the soap over his broad chest, then down his sculpted abdomen, and finally to his large erection, partially hardened from the warmth of the water and the constant desire he carried.I had opened the door quietly, watching him shower while wearing a short red silk robe that hugged the curves of my slim body in a tempting way.I paused at the entrance for a moment, my bright eyes devouring his body with clear hunger, moving slowly from his broad shoulders to his strong arms, then to his chest, and finally settling on his length beneath the running water, big and arousing in a way that made warmth spread instantly between my thighs.I smiled softly, full of desire and boldness, biting my lower lip gently. Then I untied the belt of my robe with deliberate slowness. The silk
Enzo POVThe place was unnaturally vast, a massive stone hall with a high ceiling. Dim lights hung above, casting distorted shadows across the walls. In the center stood a huge iron cage, more like a prison for a mythical beast than for an animal.Inside the cage… a massive lion. Its body was tense, its golden eyes hard… it wasn’t an ordinary animal, but something trained for obedience and killing. It was clear this lion knew only one name.I sat on a wide leather chair, one leg crossed over the other, a cigarette between my fingers. Smoke rose slowly. I didn’t look at the lion. I didn’t need to.On the ground beside me, Stephen lay there, his body covered in bruises, his face pale, his breathing uneven, his consciousness drifting in and out. He tried to lift his head, but the pain forced him back down.I finally spoke. My voice wasn’t loud, not angry… just calm in a way that was terrifying."Do you know the difference between me and you?"I took a long drag from my cigarette, then ex
