They knew the sort of relationship June had with their boss, even though they weren't supposed to contradict his command. "Boss." One of them was about to start, but Amie stomped her feet on the floor. "Are you deaf? Didn't you hear to remove her from the room?" Then she turned towards Rauf. "Darling, I think these two are about to betray you." Confused Rauf stared at them both. In the past five years, Rauf believed Amie was the only one beside him. She was the only one he believed completely. Because of his blindness, he refrained himself from socializing with the outside world. It was enough that he already had a lot of enemies and anyone would want to take advantage of his blindness. "Do as I told you." He commanded. The guards, not wanting to offend their boss, grabbed June. She struggled in their hand, her hand holding tight to the report with her. "Please, Rauf. Can you just listen to me for one minute?" But he didn't care. His attention was on the woman he thought meant the world to him. He waved them off and soon the guards dragged June out of the room and eventually out of the hospital. Once they were out, the guards bowed to her. "We're sorry, ma'am, but we need to follow the boss's instructions." June clutched onto one of them before they could leave. "You guys know the truth. You know I was the one married to Rauf for this past five years. I was the one taking care of him when no one else cared. Why don't you tell him the truth? Why did you keep quiet?" They shared a look. "Did Amie bribe you guys?" One of the guards shook his head. "We're sorry, but the boss's mother had asked everyone to keep quiet on the matter. She believes such information might harm the boss that recovering. So, everyone has to play along with Miss Amie being boss's legal wife." Every word he spoke made June question her sanity. She knew Rauf mother never liked her, but she never liked Amie too. She hated anything that had to do with Trevor's households, so why was she supporting Amie. Satisfied that they already passed their message across, the guards left her alone. Devastated, June ordered a taxi and took it back home. But the taxi was refused entrance to Salvador Mansion. She got down from the taxi. Everyone in the mansion knew her, so there was no way they would deny her entrance. But the moment they saw her, most of them stared at her like she was a stranger. They turned her away, not letting her take a step into the place she had called home for five years. Confused, June tried to barge in, but what could someone as small as her do in the presence of the mafia guards? Eventually, she left the house and went to the only person she knew would accept her without question - Ellie Prescott. She pressed her doorbell and a sweaty Ellie appeared. She wore a tank top and a shorts. "June." She sounded surprised. "What are you doing here? I thought you would be having celebratory dinner with mister handsome?" Those words made her breakdown. The tears she had been holding in, fell out in progression. Having no idea what was happening, Ellie pulled her in for a hug. She helped her into her apartment, shutting the door behind them. "Shhh... It's okay. Whatever it is, you'll be fine." She cooed as if she was speaking to a little girl. Instead of stopping, the pleading only made June shed more tears. She bawled her eyes out while clutching onto Ellie. When she was satisfied and gotten everything out of her system, she turned to Ellie and explained what was going on. Starting with the pregnancy, to their excitement of announcing it to Rauf. Then to seeing Amie at Rauf's room, feeding him as if they were a couple. To her parents supporting Amie and his guards throwing her out without letting her pick a pin in the mansion. Somewhere along the tale, Ellie was on her feet. Her hands were balled in a fist. "How could they?" She asked. "How could they do that to you when they were the reason you got married to him in the first place?" She couldn't understand it too The reason her family decided to betray her on such a cruel way. Not wanting her to dwell on what happened, Ellie turned to her stomach. "So, does this mean I am going to be an aunt soon?" The reminder of her baby made June place her hand on her stomach. This baby was her reward from the marriage. This was hers and Rauf's baby and she was going to cherish them. Even though she felt like going back to the hospital, getting a hold of Rauf and speaking sense into his head until he realized he was making a huge mistake. But, all she did was rub her stomach. "Don't worry, baby. Mummy's going to protect you." Ellie also chimed in. "Aunty is also going to protect you." June gave Ellie a sad smile. Having Ellie in her corner was a blessing. If it weren't for Ellie, there was no doubt that she was going to be alone with this. Ellie sighed. "So, what do you intend to do now?" When she got married to Rauf, June had dedicated all of her time in caring for him. She refused to hire a caregiver, claiming her husband was her responsibility. But right now, she had no idea what to do. Her life had revolved around Rauf. "You don't need to think about it immediately." Ellie said. "You can rest and when you're awake, you can think of what you want to do." But resting was the last thing on her mind. There was just one thing she wanted to do badly. "I think I will go see Rauf again."The room was silent as June took in the words. New Central State. How was she supposed to find her mother in such a busy state?"So, what do you say? Do you want to or don't you want to?" Her father said in a sing song, as if he were talking to a little child. It was the tone he had always used on her when she younger. And, it might have worked on her then, but she was no longer a little child. Soon, she would become a mother, who needs to protect her child. June swallowed the lump in her throat. "Give me the letter and I will answer whatever you want."She needed to get that letter. They might be clues in it to find her mother. If truly her mother was desperate to find her, then she had to let her know somehow that she was also in the New Central State. But, her father didn't give her the letter immediately. His eyes moved around her like she was some sort of puzzle he couldn't place together. June remained expressionless as she stared at the letter in his hand. After a while,
"You know exactly what I want. Come to the house, I'll be waiting for you."The call dropped before she could say something else. June's fist tightened on the phone. She felt her anger rising, but beneath it was also hope. Hope she had lost completely.Hope for a family that Rauf had temporarily given her, only for him to snatch it away, cruelly. It couldn't truly be. Could be?Her father was a cruel man, and would do or say anything to achieve his goal. Yet, she looked at Ellie who hadn't uttered a word. "Can you please give me a dress? I left all of mine at Rauf's"Ellie blinked. "You're not seriously going back."June inhaled. "Ellie, I need to know. I need to know if my mother is truly alive or not. I can't move on without knowing."Speechless, Ellie stared at her. She had watched June grow without anyone in her corner. Every special day had always been dedicated to Amie. June had mourned her mother every single day of her life, and Ellie wouldn't say she knew exactly how she
"Sir, there's something you should know."As soon as the guard opened his mouth, the office door slid open. Amie peeped her head him, and seeing the guard looking tense and nervous, she walked inside. She stride to Rauf's side. Thankfully, she had the decency to cover herself up. "Darling, are you working already?" She questioned, her gaze moving among the files on his table. But Rauf only relaxed on his chair. He waved his hand off to dismissed the guard. He just have to question him another day. Amie moved her hand over her body, "It's lonely without you on the bed, darling. Remember, we always sleep together." She pouted at him, trying to act cute. "Don't go changing now that you can see."Rauf chuckled. He wished he could promise her he wouldn't change, but he couldn't make a promise when he was this much in doubt. Instead, he lifted her off his leg and led her out of this office. "I think we should go sleep now. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day."He was resuming back a
It had been three days. Three days without Rauf in her life and three days trying to find something to do with her life. Ellie had resigned form her workplace and they had both sat down to search for jobs in New Central State before relocating there. It was better knowing they would have something to fall back on, than going empty handed. After searching tiredlessly, June found an assistant job in a vet clinic with good pay. At least, it would be enough for her to register for her prenatal and started getting new things for herself. Ellie also got a job at a restaurant, but she planned on working part-time as she was going to be schooling while working."Is that the last thing you need to place in the bag?" June asked. She had watched Ellie packed her bag, and because most of her belongings were still at Salvador's mansion, she had absolutely nothing to pack.It was horrible, but she had promised not to cry again. They were some things that were personal to her, that she wouldn'
When he didn't respond, and kept staring at her, Amie felt her palm becoming sweaty. Did he find out something already? She gave him the gift and covered up the room color. Everything should be fine. Amie blinked, moving closer to him. She placed her hand right into his. "Come on, darling. What's happening? Why do you look like that?"Rauf schooled his features immediately. If this was an act he needed to find out. He shouldn't give them a clue that he suspected anything. He forced a smile at her. "Sorry, Mami. It's the aftermath of the surgery."Amie smiled at him. "Come on. I'll make you feel good, but first, come and eat."She pulled him away from the grey room towards the dining. The silence in the room was deafening as the maid came to drop the food on the table. There was no whispers from the maid like it used to whenever he heard them drop his food. He waited and watched as Amie commanded them to put their food on their plate. Another thing he had been looking forward to
After spending three more days in the hospital, Rauf was finally discharged. The hospital bed had been boring to him than he expected, and Amie had forbidden him from bringing work to his sick bed. Finally, he was going home and couldn't wait to see what his home now looked like after five years. But, he had a feeling he was going to love it. Though he was blind, he had done a lot of things in that home with his wife. Things he finally wanted to see face to face. "Darling, I hired a new interior decorator to change the look of your room. You'll love it." Amie said as she led him towards the room. Instead of a smile, a frown occupied Rauf's face. What did she mean by his room?It should be their room. She had promised to move fully in after his surgery was successful. But he kept quiet. For the past three days at the hospital, Rauf had resulted in eating the hospital's meal. No matter how Aime had prepared the food, it just didn't taste the same way it did when he was blind. It
