Alessia Morretti was a cop working diligently for Five years and trying to pin down a Deadly Mafia Lord who killed her parents through the Drug he manufactured. She made it her mission until she became obsessed, However Leonardo Ricci got impressed by her persistence and watched her every move and action till he became obsessed himself, he was done dancing around and watching her destroy his little hideouts. He's going to have her so he surrendered himself to the police instead, set her husband up and pinned the crime on him. Instead of being sentenced, he was bailed out and he blackmailed her with something extremely dangerous that would destroy her career for life.***Leo’s smirk widened as he continued to taunt me. "Imagine that. A dedicated little police officer like you, spread out in my backseat, moaning like a whore for the very man you’ve been trying to put behind bars." I felt sick. He leaned back, completely at ease. "I’m sure the department would love to see it. The media. Oh, and your family." "Shut up," I whispered. He didn’t. "Hell, maybe I’ll send it to your old rival in the force. The one who’s been dying to ruin your career. What was his name again? Oh, right. Detective Harris." I thought my body couldn’t handle more rage. I was wrong. I gritted my teeth, my whole body shaking as I hissed, "What the fuck do you want from me?" Leo’s expression turned smug. "Now we’re talking." He leaned forward, his voice dropping into something low, dangerous. "You’re going to sign a deal," he said. "You’re going to be my bride."

Alessia’s POV
"You're good for nothing, Alessia! Absolutely useless!"
Here again, Honestly? I’m done putting up with this crap just because he’s my husband.
I stood in front of the dresser and gripped its edge so hard my knuckles turned white.
I turned to face him, my own anger rising and stirring in my chest. "And you, Daniel? What have you done besides bitch about me all the time?”
"Oh, please! Don't act like you're some saint. A real wife knows how to cook, clean, and actually care for her husband.” He scoffed and raked a hand through his already disheveled hair.
“But no, not with Alessia! The great detective!! The iron woman who's always off chasing criminals instead of acting like a proper wife."
I let out a bitter laugh. "Proper wife?" My voice dripped with sarcasm. "Tell me, Daniel, did you ever give me a chance to be one? You never even look at me! You never touch me, never acknowledge me unless it's to insult me. You think being married means I'm supposed to sit at home, cook, and wait for you to show me the smallest ounce of affection?"
Daniel clenched his fist hard and continued, the room got smaller with tension and I hope I don't break my emotions to shatter what I've been preserving and tolerating for years.
God, I Loved Daniel, I still do but his attitude keeps getting me, all thanks to my Job who kept me distracted. "You knew who my mother was before we got married, you knew my family’s expectations. And yet, you still act like some independent woman who doesn’t need a husband." He spat out, fixing his cufflinks and staring at the mirror before him.
"Because you never act like one!" I fired back. "You never defend me when your mother and sisters tear me apart. You never listen to me. I have fought for this marriage alone for two years while you watched from the sidelines!"
The door opened and my mother in-law entered like a nightmare and stared at me with judgemental eyes as she scanned the room as if she owned it.
Sofia Moretti was always dressed in expensive clothes, luxury and classy jewels to live off her son's name so seeing her in a flashy gold gown this morning wasn't a surprise.
"You stupid girl," she sneered hard at me, crossing her arms. "I should have known you'd be in here arguing nonsense with my son instead of doing something useful."
I turned to her, already feeling exhausted. "Mother, this is between me and Daniel, Can you stay out of it?”
"Stay out of it?” She gasped dramatically and clutched her chest as if I slapped her. This is my son's house. And you? You’re just a barren, ungrateful burden leeching off of him!"
I clenched my jaw tight, refusing to let her words get to me, even though they burned but she took a step closer, lowering her voice into that venomous tone she always used when Daniel wasn’t looking. "A woman’s duty is to serve her husband. To give him children. But you?" She let out a bitter laugh.
"You’re nothing but a disgrace. I hope your job gives you the children and a husband you can't even keep and protect, Alessia. Get out!” Her words pierced my soul but I bit the back of my lips and ignored the rage boiling in my veins. This wasn’t the first time she threatened to throw me out.
I turned to my husband hoping, just for once, that he would say something. That he would defend me or say something that warrants our privacy.
But he just stood there like a silent hypocritical dove and avoided my gaze.
That hurt more than his words ever could and before I could respond, my phone rang, distracting me from my messed up emotions.
I sighed and pulled it out of my pocket to expect another useless report. But the moment I saw the caller ID, my entire body tensed and trembled.
It was my boss at work, Detective Marco, My partner.
I put the phone to my ear. "Marco?"
"Alessia, listen carefully. It’s about him." He told me with urgency and I froze because there was only one man in the world Marco could be referring to.
Leonardo Ricci. The most powerful mafia boss in the country. The man I had been hunting for five years.
"The bastard just surrendered," Marco continued. "We were about to bust his next drug shipment, but he—he walked right in and handed himself over. Just like that."
My mind went blank because that didn’t freaking make sense. Leo Ricci wouldn’t just give up.
"What’s the catch?" I asked him, already knowing there had to be one.
"We don’t know yet. But we need you here…Now."
I hung up and wore my boots and made sure my ID card was tucked in my pockets.
"And where are you going without your bags?" My mother in law suddenly snapped and I almost rolled my eyes
"To do my job. The same one you hate so much and the same one that keeps this city safe from men like Leo Ricci."
Sofia scoffed with irritation and turned to her son. "You're running away, as always. Look at the woman you married as your wife, I hope she saves the world too, haha.."
I was too tired and occupied to let my mother in-law’s words affect me, I had a bastard to catch before something got messy but before I stepped out, I looked at my husband and sighed sadly.
" The most delusional thing I believed was that you will eventually love me but I was wrong. You never loved me.”
Then, without another
word, I walked out, leaving behind a house that never felt like home
Chapter Five Alessia’s POV The club smelled like sweat, liquor, and desperation. The bass pounded through the walls, vibrating beneath my feet as I sank deeper into the booth in the farthest corner of the room. My fingers curled around the heavy glass in front of me, the amber liquid burned down my throat as I took another long, slow sip. It was Hot scotch, mixed with tequila. Strong, Bitter and Perfect. The voices around me blurred into a dull hum, but I could still catch bits of conversations. My name was everywhere. Alessia Vasquez. The police officer who arrested her own husband. The wife of a criminal. The fraud who pretended to be a hero while sleeping next to a liar. I squeezed my eyes shut as I didn’t want to hear it and think about it but their whispers cut through me like a blade and that was sharp and unforgiving. “She had no idea her own husband was working for Leo? What kind of cop doesn’t notice that?” “I heard she was covering for him until Leo exposed ever
Chapter Four Leo’s POV The last drag of the cigarette burned my throat in the best way possible. I exhaled the smoke slowly and watched as the gray tendrils curled toward the ceiling before I crushed the butt into the ashtray. The taste of nicotine lingered on my tongue, mixing with the expensive whiskey I had been nursing. The leather chair beneath me was cold against my back, but I liked it that way. It kept me grounded. It Kept my mind sharp. The news was playing on the giant flat-screen across the room, and my lips curled into a smirk as I watched. Alessia Vasquez. The woman who had made it her life’s mission to bring me down was now the centerpiece of a scandal so big it could shake the entire police department. Her husband was a pathetic excuse of a man, he had been working for me for years, shuffling my shipments, cleaning up messes, and moving drugs under the department’s nose. And the bastard never once mentioned that his wife was the relentless little cop breath
Chapter Three Alessia’s POV When I stepped out of the room, the station was unusually quiet. Too quiet. That wasn’t a good sign. Police stations were supposed to be loud—phones ringing, officers shouting, footsteps pounding against the floors. But right now, the air was thick with something heavier than silence. It was the kind of quiet that comes before a disaster. And the stares? I felt it before I saw it. They weren’t just looking at me. They were burning holes into my entire body, whispering my name like it was a sudden curse which made me shivered in confusion I've worked with these officers for years, they've trusted and relied on me to have their backs but now they stood in a group with pale faces and their eyes were filled with something I couldn't quite place, was it disbelief? Betrayal? Hatred? Then I heard the news anchor’s voice on the television show.“Breaking news: In a shocking turn of events, the husband of a high-ranking Female police officer has been arr
Chapter Two Alessia’s POV The moment I reached the station , the tension was so high that the smell of coffee and sweat smells like blood to my nose and dear Lord knows how I wanted that blood to belong to Ricci. I walked briskly towards the interrogation room with anticipation running through my veins. Leonardo Ricci was a bastard who got away with almost everything and almost turned this city into his personal empire. A man whose crimes spanned across nations, a name that sent fear into the hearts of the most dangerous criminals. The bastard I had spent five years trying to pin down but he just walked in and surrendered? Bullshit! I pushed the door open and stepped inside with my blood boiling the moment I saw him. Leo sat there like he owned the damn place and leaned back in the metal chair like it was his private penthouse couch. He was wearing a neat tailored navy-blue suit and a Rolex glinting under the station bulbs and despite being in handcuffs, his aura was enough
