Chapter Seven: Fast and Dangerous

And as soon as their hug was over, Michele and Clarisse suddenly heard a gunshot. Clarisse felt a small gust of the wind passed her face, and she saw something which zinged infront of her.

It was so fast that she felt a dizzy.

Meanwhile, Michele knew that someone had fired a gun towards their direction. The bullet zinged past on Clarisse, and it's a good thing that it didn't directly hit her face. His body quickly acted on its own. He immediately carried Clarisse, bridal style, and he ran with all his might until he found a safe place.

Good thing they didn't hear more gunshots, and the whole place became quiet. Michele surveyed the place, and once he made sure that it's safe, he returned his attention back to Clarisse.

"Are you alright, Clarissa? Are you hurt somewhere?" he asked, while cupping Clarisse's face.

"I'm shaking and I still feel nervous, but I can handle it." Clarisse weakly answered, as she tries to regain her composure.

"No, I think we should go to the hospital to get you checked." Michele enunciated, as he looks dead worried for Clarisse.

"Michele! Look at me! Breathe in and breathe out, okay?" Clarisse tries to calm Michele down.

Michele decided to close his eyes. He breathes in and breathes out, as his trying best to calm himself. After a few seconds, he was able to regain his composure.

"Are you alright now?" Clarisse asks him.

Michele forces a smile towards Clarisse.

"Yes, I'm alright now. I'm sorry, I went into a full panic mode, but don't worry, I can control myself now." he responded, while looking at the woman he loves.

"I wonder who fired a gun, and I'm also wondering why someone fired a dangerous weapon. I hope that everyone at the park is okay..." Clarisse wondered aloud.

Michele remained silent, as he is thinking something else. He already have an idea on who fired a gun, and he is going to confront that person later. But for now, he has to put his full attention towards Clarisse.

He snaps out from his reverie when he heard Clarisse's voice again.

"I have to go back to work, Michele. You should go home now and we'll just see each other again next time." she stated.

"Are you sure you still want to go back to work? I can drive you home if you want..." Michele suddenly suggested.

"How many times do I have to tell you that I'm perfectly alright? Don't make me repeat myself or else, I won't talk to you again!" Clarisse gave him warning.

"Okay, fine! Anyway, give me your phone." Michele suddenly said.

Clarisse's brows met in a frown.

"My phone? But why?" he asked.

"Trust me. Please give me your phone." Michele said, in reassuring tone.

Clarisse gave her mobile phone to Michele. He dialled some numbers, then afterwards, Clarisse can hear another mobile phone ringing.

Michele pulled something from his pant's pocket, and he showed her his phone.

"I've already saved my number on your phone, and I am going to save your number later. Our lines should be open and we should have constant communication." he said, while giving the phone back to Clarisse.

"Alright then." Clarisse said, while casually shrugging her shoulders.

Michele started walking Clarisse back to her workplace but his mind is flying elsewhere. He needs to talk to someone who he thinks is the mastermind of what happened today.

He needs to have a serious talk to that person.

===============================

"Welcome, Master Michele."  one of the servants greeted him, as he enters a mansion house.

Michele grimly marches inside the house, as he is trying his best to control his anger.

"Where is my father?" he demanded.

The servant looked taken back as she  saw Michele's angry face.

"Hello, my dearest son! I'm so glad that you visited us today..." his mother lovingly greeted him.

"Where is my dear father, mother?" Michele asked, while gritting his teeth.

His mother suddenly looks confused while looking at her one and only son. There's no denying it. Her son is seething in anger, and she doesn't know the reason why.

"He's in the library room but why---!" the old woman wasn't able to finish her sentence when Michele walks past her, and he is now making his way towards the library.

Mrs. Montserrat decided to follow her son, while feeling worried.

Once they reached the library, Michele didn't even bother to knock on the door. He just pushed the door open, and he saw his father reading a book.

"Where's your manners, Michele? Don't you know how to knock at the door?" Mr. Montserrat asked his son.

"Let's go straight to the point, father. Why did you ask someone to fire a gun at me and Clarisse?" Michele angrily interrogated his own father.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Montserrat's eyes widened in shock after she heard everything from Michele.

"Michael! Why on earth would you do that to your own son!" she demanded.

"Please leave us, darling. It's just between Michele and I." Mr. Montserrat ordered.

"But----!" Mrs. Montserrat tried to protest, but Michele suddenly spoke.

"I'm so sorry, Mother. Father and I need to talk, so I'll be asking you to leave us." Michele requested to his mother.

Mrs. Montserrat didn't have any choice but to say yes. Both of her husband and son are dead serious, so she really needs to give them time and space to talk to each other.

"Okay, then. Take your time." Mrs. Montserrat finally gives in.

Mrs. Montserrat steps out from the library, leaving Michael and Michele alone.

Once the door closes, Michele decided to speak again.

"I'm going to ask you the very same question, father. Why did you ask someone to fire a gun at me and Clarisse?" he doesn't want to waste any more time.

"I would like to teach you a lesson, son. A normal girl can't be associated to you and to our family. You should be with a woman who knows that you belong to a Mafia family." his father explained his side.
